So, I’ve got a 4-0 today. Paired against Izzet Phoenix (2-0), UB Turns (2-0), AltarVine (2-1) and Humans (2-1).
In three tournaments, I’ve got 4-1, 2-2, 4-0 changing little. Force of Negation immediately impacted the deck, cause it’s basically a mono blue that splashes two colors. Turn 0 protection is exactly what the deck was lacking, and it showed today against both AltarVine and Humans in game one (Looting, Vial). It’s also the perfect way to deal with opposing walkers in counterwars (Cryptic and Charm suddenly become WAY more appealing even in the mirror).
Lately I’ve been immersed in testing with UR/Grixis Bloo and Phoenix variants, but I feel that it’s a good time to play this deck.
Do we have a good tron match up? I am just curious to know your opinion. I have an lgs that is very tron heavy like 4-6 players on a given friday are on it. Ill be honest, I am very high on your list, as a blue mage I love nothing more than never tapping out at sorcery speed. Also is the lack of a sweeper in addition to blast zone because of the large amount of spot removal? How damaging is blast zone being a land drop on turns 1-3 and then being unable to hold up a turn 3 archmage's charm?
Hey dudes, I've been on BUG shadow for a bit, but that forum is pretty dead. People can't seem to pick an archetype for where BUG should be, which is understandable considering all the routes one can take. Here's my list, I figured I'd post it here but if it's off topic, mods can remove it. I just thought it would be good to stir up some discussion considering there's not a lot of people posting.
While I like the list, I cant help but think that gurmag and tasigur are just better threats than tarmogoyf. I realize there is no thought scour in your build either.
In sticking with a build like yours, would there be any merit to running some # of grim flayer instead of goyf? He doesnt get nearly as big, but you already have a good amount of support for delirium, as evidenced by playing traverse.
EDIT: I dont know why it is saying that it is my list and not yours. Im sorry about that.
Im all for the discard and no counters train. I just dont think they play well together. To make counters work in this deck, it would end up being a different style of deck entirely.
Im really conflicted. I dont necessarily want to play bob, but bob steals games. Thoughts on playing a creature suite like this:
4 tracker
4 goyf
3 scooze
2 tasigur
So I absolutely hate Tireless Tracker. It is always too slow to generate any amount of value. People always say it is great for midrange, but we are already positioned well against midrange. I really want to run something else, anyone have any suggestions? Part of me just wants to go back to Courser.
Honestly, it's pretty new tech for me so I'm not too sure where I want it but I can think of a few matchups where I might bring it in: Valakut, Grapeshot, Ad Nauseam, maaaaybe Living End? Basically any deck that relies on a single card to end the game. If it ends up being good against Storm as well as Valakut, that's probably good enough to justify it.
In a Sideboard like this, what would you personally take out to replace with Gideon's Intervention?
Which version is this? I'm guessing it's the traditional version?
Regardless, probably Gaddock Teeg. I don't like Teeg in this deck because it stops us from casting our own Cocos. It also does nothing against Valakut decks and dies to every removal under the sun. There could be an argument for taking out a 1/1 split between Teeg and Eidolon.

What else does Gideon's Intervention hit? Just curious, I don't know if it is good enough to justify a spot in the sideboard if it only hits one match up.

Ah, I like Gaddock, I dont know how useful it actually is. The Gaddock is mainly a hate piece against Storm and any Tron Variant.
