Maybe you explode, but how do you recover from a damnation/wrath of god (Blasphemous Act, languish). - Or even targeted removal?
Remember if you shoot quickly out of the gates people will focus you: and everyone runs creature (mass)-removal. You have very little ways to protect yourself against those things; only Void Winnower gives protection. Sure without protection you'll go very very fast if things go well and the opponents don't draw their hate/control cards. But you need a backup plan if at T6 a wipe comes.
Well I wouldn't run creature ramp - it's way too temporary to rely on it in the prolonged game that is edh. You should really add the standard green sorcery/instant speed ramp,
On the land base I wonder why you are running the urza lands: the chance you draw them all in a game is just negligible, better off with some direct utility. Also: Nephalia Academy is there so much discard in your meta? Also with an indestructable, non-creature commander like kruphix Command Beacon becomes a wasted slot.
I'd definity add temple of the false gods, and also homeward path. As you run a few of the strongest bombs in the game you certainly don't want those get stolen.
So far from play testing the deck exploded right out of the gate. I tend to end up winning via Laboratory Maniac due to a primal surge/genesis wave... Which is great but it feels cheap I guess.
Well I ended up getting a Kruphix, God of Horizons, I think its the best option in Simic colors for my general. That being said, is there anything else I should change about this deck?
So, I have adapted my Colorless Eldrazi to Simic Eldrazi but know I'm a little stuck. I feel my main board is strong but my general doesn't really fit the playstyle of the deck as a whole. So here's my question, what commander would you recommend? Personally I think Kruphix, God of Horizons might be the way to go for ramp... But from play testing I feel I'm ramping to fast? Any thoughts/criticisms are welcome!
Might as well play Enter the Infinite and Omniscience at this rate. Yeah they are blue but you will pretty much get the same effect. Just run Simic for fun
Also, noticed you're running the tron lands but no expedition map to go get the one you might need to finish the set.
I'd also run crucible of worlds to go with Inventors' fair to reuse the ability for the win, as well as for any other useful lands that could have been milled or removed.
Crucible is a great card, I actually just got one and should be here in a week or so.
May I ask what the bottled cloister is for? That cancels out new kozilek's abilities as you have nothing in hand to counter. If you were running ghirapur orrery that would actually be pretty good as you could pick the orrery trigger, draw 3,then the cloister trigger to return your hand and draw one.... Actually that's genius!
I play Cloister as a countermeasure for all the pesky black discard.
Panharmonicon only triggers when things come into play, not on cast, so it won't work for Kozilek
Also, Rings of the Brighthearth and Illusionist's Bracers won't work to copy either the draw or annihilator, since they are triggered abilities, not activated abilities (Unless you use Rings with the Strionic Resonator, in which case you can copy the resonator's ability). And I'm not sure you can make as many copies as you have mana for either - Rings triggers once every time an activated ability happens, which means you only get one attempt at copying it?
on the plus side, since they are almost all cast triggers and not ETB triggers, you can play sweet hate-rocks like torpor orb!
http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/477463-kozilek-butcher-with-juice maybe have a look over juwdah's primer for kozilek and see what you think of that.
I don't wanna sound mean but I think a lot of the cards in your build could be swapped out for something much much stronger.
Theres so much potential for land abuse and you've got 17 wastes that could be a ton of land destruction like strip mine, add that in with your rings of brighthearth and a Crucible of worlds and you're destroying 2 lands per turn. Add strionic resonator and its 3 lands a turn.
Let me know what you think of the primer in terms of which aspects you might want to apply and we can cook something up Smile
I have looked at it, and as much hate I get from annihilator, I don't feel like adding land destruction to my MTG wrap sheet. Albeit I have heavily considered it strictly due to the fact that I get hated on so much in my playgroups I end up playing archenemy... Lol.
sensei's divining top with the rings/monolith combo is draw your deck. I'd definitely run that
I'd definitely look to run a LOT more rocks so you can chain them into a T3-4 kozilek drop. It'll make opponents panic and destroy him, which is great because 4 more cards on the next cast and if you draw more rocks you throw him out another time.
I once played an 8 player game with my Kozi deck and consistently had him destroyed which meant I drew into all my combos and ended the game by about T6/7
Are you going for completely eldrazi tribal? Because you're missing out on some seriously good game winning cards
Edit: just noticed you're running panharmonicon but there's almost nothing in your list that it interacts with, any reason it's in there that I'm not seeing?
sensei's divining top Has been a big one I have been looking into for sure, I just don't have one yet. As for rocks, I need a Thran Dynamo for sure, as well as a mana crypt.
I'd love for the deck to be completely tribal, but I think can't really think of any other Eldrazi that fit the commander color. I'm sure I have overlooked some though.
Panharmonicon triggers off when creatures hit the field/cast right? I could be reading the card wrong, but I was pretty that's how it works.
Zur is still a good commander. If you still have cards and have a Zur, run him. He's more competitive than a lot of decks I usually run into. I see/play against him at least once or twice at events. However, you can always get a pre-con and switch things up from there. The last set of pre-cons are all fairly equal and of course the new pre-cons are just around the corner.
For sometime now I have been working towards a Competitive Colorless Eldrazi EDH Deck and here's what I have so far. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth as my commander. Most playgroups see him as an immediate threat so you start the game off in Arch Enemy mode up until people don't won't to mess with you. The reason I run him as my commander is simple, draw power. There are a couple reasons why I picked him over his new OGW twin, Kozilek, the Great Distortion and that is because his (new Kozie) draw power can be fairly situational. Nor does it work well with Panharmonicon, yet old Kozie can, and when he hits you get to draw 8 cards instead of 4. Putting you much closer to victory! For the laughs, let's say you really want to outdraw the blue player to your left. Well let's look at some other fun cards I have added to optimize your drawing capabilities. Like perhaps a Strionic Resonator and if that's not enough how about a Rings of Brighthearth for your troubles? Now you might be asking, why only use them for draw power? For mana rocks of course! Let's face it Eldrazi love mana, they love it so much not only do they eat your opponent's mana all up, they like to tap you all out of yours as well. So the draw power helps to keep your board state favorable. Here is where the abuse comes into the fold, believe it or not, you WANT Kozie to die not just once or twice but multiple times. Get the extra draw out of him over and over.
By the time you are ready to start beating your opponents into submission you should have all the tools to do so. What are the tools exactly? Well there is the above listed cards that can handle quite a bit especially against those pesky green decks that vomit elves all over their field. Strionic Resonator and Rings of Brighthearth (indirectly) as well as Illusionist's Bracers can all trigger off of Annihilator, and when you have Annihilator 4 on your commander, well try getting someone to actually annihilate 16+ in one combat... Most players scoop at that point. Why do I say 16+? Well Rings can continue to be paid until your out of mana so you can literally board whip just from attacking. What's better than that? Oh I know, the satisfying feeling of exile a deck. Yes with Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger and the crazy copy trigger cards can do this as well... It's so much fun. Even more fun is watching a player's face when you continuously copy Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger WC trigger as well. This deck is like Anti-Opera, instead of giving everyone everything you take everything away and laugh.
Now we can't very well play Eldrazi without mana so let's take a look at some mana rocks that We can use in the deck. First up Sol Ring It's just too good to not put in, yet there are better alternatives like Mana Vault which is also in the deck. I haven't found a Mana Crypt yet but when I do it will be in here. Thought Vessel is also in here because no maximum hand size and well that's just perfect for our crazy good draw power. Hedron Archive and Dreamstone Hedron Are great because the add some extra draw utility for later on when you need it. Lastly Basalt Monolith, this card goes without saying really. Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth = Mana forever.
All the fun stuff out of the way, let's look over the deck list shall we?
Any question or comments please let me know! Even though I feel like the deck it a solid 75%-80% Complete if you have any recommendations please post them! Thanks for checking my deck out!
I think Kahno said it best. Over the years I have played in many different playgroups with even more differences in their decks. My colorless deck is a great example, I built it while I was living somewhere else and it did great. When I moved back to my hometown and brought it to the local card shop, it got destroyed by decks made to combo out.
I feel the format has an almost 2 head coin approach to it. On one side you get Combo decks, on the other you get Cruisers. Of course there are some the don't met either of those. But combo's and cruisers seem to be more popular depending on location and player base. With that in mind, I find more often than not players with choose to play in groups where their deck type is more commonly played. Cruiser decks tend to like to play with/against other cruisers, as where combo's like to out combo each other. Which I feel give the game its "Fairness" attribute considering when combo decks and cruiser decks fight it out, it seems to usually be a landslide victory in either player's favor. The same could be said for aggro and control, however those deck types tend to like to play against each other more so than combo and cruiser types.
EDH has a certain duality to it from my standpoint. Yet I still feel the game has its "fairness" to it, yet really it depends on what you are playing and what everyone else is playing during that specific game otherwise it does seem to feel "unfair" at times. Of Course its all depends on the player to as well as house rules which may say certain cards are banned and ones that are banned are not banned (Which is a different case during FNM, when whats banned is banned and nothing else).
Perhaps there are just too many variables to EDH as it stand to really get a cemented yes or no about the balance and fairness of the game due to its mostly casual players as well as its large and unique player style and playgroups?
Is Doubling Cube some kind of joke? It's a terrible card that barely deserves a place in Omnath, let alone any kind of serious deck.
No, it's not. I run it in my colorless Eldrazi EDH. Just one more ramp card so I can play titans back to back. In a fast deck it's not very good, but when you play a colorless battle cruiser it's helpful at least.
As someone who plays Colorless EDH, I would love to see Emrakul, the Aeons Torn unbanned. However in fairness I think she should stay where she is. She can be played relatively early on with the right ramp.
I don't deny I would like her to be unbanned, with the BFZ block there is even more to work with to get her off the field like Aligned Hedron Network even instant speed removal like Scour from Existence and Titan's Presence as long as you can reveal Draco or your own Emmy.
True, thats why I have Isochron Scepter with Counterspell Imprinted on it. With Voltaic Key,Strionic Resonator, and Rings of Brighthearth I have access to 3-4 Counterspell's a turn. I did give board wipes a thought, however I do have little counter magic.
So far from play testing the deck exploded right out of the gate. I tend to end up winning via Laboratory Maniac due to a primal surge/genesis wave... Which is great but it feels cheap I guess.

Crucible is a great card, I actually just got one and should be here in a week or so.
I play Cloister as a countermeasure for all the pesky black discard.
Good to know! When I first read Rings of the Brighthearth it seemed like it's pay ability could be "Multi-kicked" in a sense. So Illusionist's Bracers doesn't work with Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger Exile top 20 trigger then? I was told it would. Oh well...
I have looked at it, and as much hate I get from annihilator, I don't feel like adding land destruction to my MTG wrap sheet. Albeit I have heavily considered it strictly due to the fact that I get hated on so much in my playgroups I end up playing archenemy... Lol.
