I wish it stopped it from being legendary for the turn, feels like it's just going to be used as a removal effect.

Where's the reminder text???? I can't play these cards if they don't say what they do.

CARDS SHOULD SAY WHAT THEY DO!!!!

I haven't double-checked every card, but it seems every common and uncommon has (on their default version) reminder text for every nonevergreen mechanic - in some cases even for evergreen mechanics like scry, mill and menace. The one exception is taking the initiative - which is in line with becoming the monarch, where the reminder text appears on the marker card.
But yeah, beyond disliking the set's general concept and mechanics, I don't find many of these cards interesting. I've never been so disinterested in a set. They don't even have any good reprints. I bet they don't even reprint City of Brass or Birds of Paradise. I'm usually not one of the people saying "wah wah, bad set", but this just seems hollow. And the cards failing to say what they do just seems insulting.

These sets (Also the previous Commander draft set) put a lot of effort into setting up interesting interactions for their "max and match" cards (partner/Backgrounds) and that often results in complex yet individually uninteresting seeming cards. I don't know whether the impression will improve over time, but they really fail that first impression.
I think part of what bothers me with the DnD sets is it just doesn't feel like DnD to me. I was never very interested in their official DnD worlds and novels. DnD is all about making your own worlds and characters. These characters don't feel like DnD to me. They're not like the characters I've played with, and they're not in the settings I've played in. It's more of a video game crossover than anything. I know there are people who like official modules. I guess this feels like DnD to those people.

I mean, Baldur's Gate is a video game series, so at least for this set the feeling of a video game crossover is spot on.

I feel the set relies too much on familiarity with the source material. When they did the same thing in the first Commander draft set, the required familiarity was with MtG lore, so they had a lot they could expect from MtG players. This time though there was more hand-holding required than they seem to provide to create a coherent feel to the setting.

I'm familiar enough with D&D to get a lot, but even I feel the set is just a mess of ideas - in part that's what Commander can feel like, but it feels like the wrong aspect of the Commander Constructed metagame to represent in their Limited set. Maybe it's more the unhealthy ratio of rarities in the revealed cards, too, that helps along that impression.

As someone who knows basically nothing about dnd, I found AFR and what I've seen of this set as a bizarre mess of unpronounceable gibberish. Some cool cards for sure but easily my least favourite setting.

I predict that dnd brings the most nonsense names and places to mtg where everything is gibberish and unpronounceable.

the rumours that this is a test before WotC buys Games Workshop.

    Oh no Frown

WotC handles their brand much better than GW has ever. I've been a long time player of both and im pretty sure the only thing that kept Warhammer alive and kicking was the devotion of the fan base.

Edit: GWs market cap is too high for Hasbro to takeover anyway, they would require some serious capital to get the deal done and I don't think investors would be pushing for it.

What interests me is we have:

So there's new art for Aminatou which looks like planeswalker art, but she wouldn't fit in the crunch between Liliana and W&6. Would they put new cards into a masters set?,..or have we been jebaited before with unique packaging art without any representation in the set? I can't recall anything, but I could be wrong. She's also on the draft box with Liliana.

I suppose she could be mono-esper color, but it would have to be a new iteration. Did they confirm somewhere there are only two planeswalkers?

EDIT: Maybe the gimmick could be one reprinted rare/mythic and one new in each pack

Maybe she just didn't get borderless art?

I hate that people will gobble up all these garbage DND, 40K and LotR sets.

    Nom,nom,nom.

Also, why do you care what other people like?

Yeah but knowing the team at Wizards they would try to throw in time travel along with them .

You could probs make a cute joke about Kino and cavewamen .

They could make Muraganda a pre-historic + Alien Invasion themed plane. Dinosaurs and Cavemen vs literal Aliens.

I would wager that the Background Cards work exactly like partner, that this new enchantment sits in the command zone with your commander and has its own tax and commander damage. It's basically the glue that makes the draft work.

Oh I still think the card is good, but if I faced him I would have zero concerns about his forced impulse. I suppose Ive never been a draw-go kind of player. Anyway, screw blue!

It's more than counterspells, it's hate pieces you don't need yet, 2/3 drops on turn 5 when you have a better card to play, lands drops that are the suboptimal choice. It forces you to play topdeck even with other cards in hand.

Not really a punishment to opponent. This should have been 'cant draw more than one' instead

I feel like youve either misread it or are not too familiar with impulse draw, this punishment is very relevant. He may be a little overprice but its probably broken at 3 or 4.

Honestly in my experience most MTG communities are just awful, this one is pretty good but the major Reddit and FB ones are straight up unbearable.
