Seeing people complain about this on Facebook is so annoying. Go play Yugioh. You'll get hammered into oblivion just trying and Konami will spit in your face for it. No one is obligated to buy this product. It's only a plus to have these cards available to those who can and will, rather than not. Because if we didn't have some promise of reprints, some addition to the card pool, then the secondary market will run wild with its prices. And at that point, who does everyone blame? Never the hoarders or scalpers, it'll be WOTC fault for not reprinting more. And if the reprints are too accessible? Their fault again for not honoring MTG as a collector's game. It's hilarious to me that the complaints are that these reprints may not lower the price of the secondary market cards - MAY NOT, neglecting the fact it's a valid possibility it may - and neglecting the fact those secondary market prices are the fault of the losers who establish them because MTG isn't a game, but an investment to them.
An investment.
Laughable.
I agree. Everyone is complaining because it's so expensive to buy a box, but the why the crap do people even buy boxes in the first place? Such a waste of money. THIS IS A GAME – IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FUN.
I'm going to enjoy myself by doing either one or two UMA drafts, and if I open something sweet, great! If I win, even better! Sure it's more expensive than a regular draft, but I'm willing to fork out that little bit of extra money for the experience.
The new M19 card Mistcaller states that it stops a creature from entering the battlefield if 'it wasn't cast'. Now, the text for Cascade says that 'you may cast the card without paying its mana cost.'
Am I to assume from that wording that the card being cascaded in still counts as 'being cast', even if it's for free, and so Mistcaller won't work here, and only works against things like Through the Breach and Sneak Attack where it says 'you may put it onto the battlefield?
Let's say I attack with a Wojek Halberdiers and two other creatures; Battalion is triggered and the Halberdiers gain first strike. This would happen in the Declare Attackers step. Would that then trigger Path of Mettle to transform (assuming the transforming criteria is met)? Or would a card have to have first strike already before it is declared as an attacker so that Path can check it?
Recruiter would be a sweet print, it would make me have to get one, because of the price drop. The man-lands seem like a strong cycle to be printed again; I'd personally like the filter lands better, but both are good enough in my mind.
They really wasted an opportunity in Iconic Masters by printing the Future Sight cycle instead of the filter lands IMO.
Imperial Recruiter is my pick for the set's money mythic a la Mana Drain, Force of Will, or Tarmogoyf. Rishadan Port could really use a reprint as well.
Those are pretty good options as well. Def. Rishadan Port.
I find the list for Iconic Masters to be a pretty big let down, so I have no idea what 'will' be in Masters 25, but one something I think certainly should be are the allied-colour creature lands. They've never been reprinted, so I'd say it's definitely time.
This set is so far turning out to be completely different than how I imagined it. I thought it was going to be shards again (like Bolas would try to create his own version of Alara, or something), and Dark Intimations seemed to foreshadow that.
But now it's looking very much straightforward 2-colour fare. Which isn't bad necessarily, just ... I don't know. Nothing here is really seeming all that exciting.
You can always respond to the declaration of a phase change. A phase only changes when all players pass while the stack is empty. So if they are in their Pre-combat Main Phase and play Blood Moon and pass priority, in response you float some green mana then pass priority so Blood Moon resolves. Then they pass priority again hoping you will not use your mana and let it go to waste, this is your chance to cast Naturalize with the floating mana. They will still be in their Pre-combat Main Phase so they will again have the option of casting noninstant spells before going to combat.
That's what I thought, but it's interesting because I've never actually seen anyone make this play (though I assume it has happened before).

But still, that's pretty dumb. So what good is Mistcaller, then?

Celestial Colonnade
Creeping Tar Pit
Lavaclaw Reaches
Raging Ravine
Stirring Wildwood
Then they do something.
Um, yes – Sign in Blood can. This is a strictly-worse version of that.

They don't even look like Magic cards.
A guy at the store later opened a foil Goyf – he yelled so loud I thought his head was going to explode.

Okay, thanks folks.
