Have you guys tested Liliana Death's Majesty in a U/B control deck? I have been testing her and I find her to be a perfect Planeswalker for a control deck. It gives you zombie tokens plus you can revive your Torrential Gearhulk from the graveyard to trigger it's ability for extra defensive plays. I find this combo to be very powerful after testing her out.

Deadlock Trap seems a good card in a U/B deck since it helps you tap their Plainswalkers and creatures and prevent them from triggering their ability. Also Pacification Array is good for tapping artifacts and creatures for more board control. With Glimmer of Genius granting you energy counters you can utilize them to triggerDeadlock Trap ability very easily.

Here is a video of U/W Control vs U/B Control.

Since U/B Control doesn't have that many answers against artifacts and enchantments, I was thinking of building a Improvise deck since it helps you save up your mana for casting other spells. It also contains Battle at the Bridge for gaining life since U/B doesn't have that many life gaining spells other than Essence Extraction. Also with Spire of Industry, Aether Hub and Inventors' fair available, you can splash in a third color very easily without worrying about the mana curve. Do you think that Esper Improvise or Grixis Improvise are really good options against aggro decks?

I have to say that Scarab feast is a good sideboard card against control decks since it can exile their Glimmer of Genius, Disallow or any other cards from their graveyard if they don't have Torrential Gearhulk to resolve. It is also good for Exiling Scrapheap Scrounger from the graveyard. This works well with zombie decks too.

I don't see why you would play Cancel when you have Disallow which it allows you to do so much more for the same mana cost. Supreme Will counter effect can be very good if you utilize it when your opponent spends all his mana for casting a spell, which it will act as a Cancel since your opponent doesn't have any lands left to pay for the cost. Another thing that makes this counter spell so good is it's mana cost. A single blue mana spell is to be casted more accurately than a double blue mana spells, which makes it more versatile than Cancel in that perspective. It will also allow you to save up your blue mana sources for casting other blue spells at your disposal, as well balancing out your mana curve for casting other spells more consistent without having to worry about misusing your lands.

For Example: If you have more lands that produces one color and a few lands of the opposite color on the field, you will likely utilize the lands with the highest number for spending it for the genetic cost of a spell you want to cast rather than utilize it's main color source for casting that spell. That is why it is important to have spells that requires the least amount of mana of it's main color for a more balance mana curve.

Do you think that this card will be playable in Standard?

I personally think that this card will be seen in standard do to the number of control decks that utilizes the powerful Torrential Gearhulk. It is a Mana Leak and a Anticipate in one card with a Mana cost of 3 at instant speed. This card will give a power boost to control decks since not only it allows you to have extra protection, but it will also allow you to dig deeper into the deck to search out for answers. I can see this card been played in a variety of control decks such as U/B Control, U/R Control, Grixis Control and Jeskai Control. This will increase the deck's performance as well its defenses by a lot.

It also synergizes very well with Torrential Gearhulk's ability, making this card more versatile than it appears to be. It allows you to counter any spell your opponent utilizes against you or Scry for 4 to search out for any answers you need for certain situations. I can see this card increase it's value as well as Torrential Gearhulk's in the future since it is a powerful card combination for a control deck to have.

I'm not sure about the him being better then Ajani bit. If anything Ajani has the fact that he is a green planeswalker going for him in a field which was more or less dominated by green midrange-y decks. Tezzeret doesn't have a deck in the current Standard format in which he can effortlessly slot into and that is what makes him unappealing to a large part of the community.

That being said UB control decks aren't exactly invisible in this format but the new Tezzeret isn't exactly a perfect fit there either. Maybe a Metallurgic Summonings variant but I wouldn't care to speculate on that just yet.

In my own mind he's really more of a Mana rock that lets someone ramp in the UB colors. Hedron Crawler is still in the format along with Foundry Inspector, so if someone wanted to go strait into Torrential Gearhulk or Noxious Gearhulk he's a good choice.

I totally agree with you on these. You can build a similar deck of the original UB tezzeret control by utilizing Tezzeret the Schemer and adding some artifacts that fits the best with his abilities. Hedron Crawler is one of the best choice with Tezzeret the Schemer since it allows you to cast the planeswalker by turn 3. Foundry Inspector is another great card for making your artifacts cheaper for casting multiple artifacts and fill your board faster. One of the great things that I like about this Tezzeret is its +1 ability. Not only allows you to put a artifact token with the ability to tap itself to add a mana of any color, but it also can be used to protect Tezzeret from attacks. If you combine that ability with Authority of the Councils you will have extra protection for your planeswalker as well produce extra token on each turn.

This card might not seem very appealing at the moment but I can see him been playable with Metallurgic Summonings making your construct tokens 5/5. He has a decent ultimate for a 4 mana cost planeswalker.

I just don't see how it would be good in that deck. Your scenario involves getting out Summonings, and a Planeswalker, and ultimating it. How about I just cast summonings and then a couple of instants that draw me cards and kill stuff and I win normally?

It can be used in a control type deck or an aggro deck with low mana cost artifacts such as the puzzleknots, scarp trawler, etc. That is probably the best choice to utilize this planeswalker in my opinion.

Repression of the Consulate - 3WW
    Enchantment

When ~ enters the battlefield, exile all artefacts your opponents control until ~ leaves the battlefield.

"Our workshops are silent. Our creations have been seized. They've killed our desire to live." - Pia Nalaar
Note that the translation appears to be a bit wonky. Literal wording translates as 'exile all artefacts your opponent controls'. I'd think it would be either 'exile all artefacts target opponent controls' or 'exile all artefacts your opponents control', given that effects like these are generally worded with multiplayer formats in mind.

This is the correct translation of this card ability.

When Repression of the Consulate enters the battlefield, exile all artifacts your opponents control until Repression of the Consulate leaves the battlefield.

This instant counter spell is meant to replace Scatter of the Winds when the next rotation takes place. I find it to be a better counter spell since it has multiple targets to chose from. I can see this card been played in a control deck.

Yeah I like battle at the bridge. If I know how X spells work this should also get around chalice for 1 which is nice and give chalice another use. One problem I have with it is a bunch of the artifacts we tend to play are mana sources so it's not really helping to pay for it. a 3 mana -3/-3 and gain 3 life is fine I guess. Some builds can abuse this much more than others. It is pretty nuts late game though.

Side note: I think the name is the best part of the card. It's almost like they were like, hey what kind of removal would be sweet with ensnaring bridge? Oh so many games are built around setting up and defending the bridge. so good.

As another side note: do NOT play this against nahiri decks lol tapping your artifacts that are normally immune will certainly kill you Smile

yet another side note: I still think tezz will be grixis. I'm really hoping he wont be as I'm not a fan of grixis colors. I just have this itching saying he will be. I doubt Bolas will be in the set, just scheming in the background as always but he's certainly grixis.

Well according to the sorcery spell Dark Intimitation says I think there will be a new Bolas Planeswalker for grixis decks.

@gigafish 1x Crucible is by no means canon. Also, Time Sieve has been thoroughly tested and it's just not right for the deck; if you assemble Thopter Sword you're already a huge favorite to win, so a card that's useless without the combo just takes space from something better.

ALSO. This just got spoiled on Reddit. Holy SMOKE.

If that new Trophy Mage says CMC 3 like I think it does, this deck is revolutionized. Plus that Mutilate-nation that casts a free Bridge, AND that artifact that gets artifacts?! GEEEEEZ 3/4 of the spoiled cards so far will make a huge splash for this deck

Yes. These new additions deserve extensive testing. Keep in mind, we will also likely get a new Tezzeret planeswalker card.

This new set is looking pretty good so far. I can see a whole new powerful Tezzeret deck utilizing the sorcery, the mage and the construct creature.

I think that UB Control is going to be the next big thing in standard do to the number of the new powerful blue and black spells recently released on Kaladesh. With so many aggressive decks currently in standard this is the perfect deck against them. With Liliana, The Last Hope dominating in the current meta, you can easily take care of most aggressive decks out there by utilizing its +1 ability to take care most of their creatures. Essence Extraction is one of the best card for taking out those Smuggler's Copters. Lost Legacy is another great card for taking care of decks that utilize Ulrog and Emrakul, The Promised End. I am confident that this deck will be seen in the next tournament in standard.

Consulate Skygate should just be Spellskite, so much more upside than reach. Prophetic Prism doesn't give enough value outside of the cycling to be worth it. However, I feel that Filigree Familiar could probably be used in an aggressive meta where the lifegain is valuable.

What about Noxious Gearhulk? Can he be a good candidate for a U/B Tezzeret control deck?
