Its actually kind of elegant in that you play it, and if it dies you get ramp into more spells later on. Then during a opponents EOT you can get a token that's mostly a copy of the beginning creature. Dunno if it would go well into the Mono G food deck but overall nice card

Its not a bad card by any means and could be a really good alternate card, but I see the cant be chumped by 2/2 tokens/creatures as more threat. It could overall be a meta card depending on what is in your area since as you say it does replace itself after a point and the mana ramp could be relevant.

Varragoth's Boast ability is nuts. Potentially a repeatable tutor (slap a Whispersilk Cloak on him, and he's good) in the command zone.
Its not completely nuts, but it is VERY VERY good. Its not demonic tutor which folks will have to get used to but its more like Worldly Tutor in that it places the card on top of your deck so unless you have a draw effect its not insta grab.

Which really means that in the older formats or any format with fetchlands of whatever stripe you have to go thru a draw phase if you have used the boast first instead of on EOT on your opponents or basically you paid 2 mana for nothing.

Behold is majorly powerful even if your always paying 4 total. The ability to split the difference late game without having to fully pay at once is pretty great. As a bonus sorcery out the initial pay then 2 at eot on their turn to set your draw and get card advantage without losing momentum.

This set kinda feels like a mix of lorwyn and shards of alara, which is great cause I loved both those to death. Also Gnottvold seems to be built on the backs of giants...which is awesome imagery.

Yasharn, Implacable Earth as well but I'm unsure if it stops the annihilator trigger or not since while annihilator is only when you attack but I'm unsure if that counts fully as a triggered ability.

I would play Liesa and make her w/b group hate with a choice of the worst things you can do in multiplayer like kicked desolation angel,
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, , melding Bruna, the Fading Light and Gisela, the Broken Blade. Searching for the bits with Thalia's Lancers. Using Underworld Dreams, and forcing them to draw somehow. Many other taxing and interesting card in both black and white.

I would personally say rams though since while it does cost one more if used with a large Avatar you get excess burn dmg. Also instant speed. Both are of course better with death touch creatures and the 1cc for swipe would make that shine better if this deck did run such creatures. But the sorcery speed timing in a deck loaded with sorcery speed casts seems ok but not great. Admittedly this is without any gameplay backing either of the assumptions up.

I love when the rules feel for the players.
yeah that could get insane if you cascade too many times into interlocking cascades then have to go back to the next trigger and start again. TG most commander is casual cause imagine what a tourney with a cascade commander and such could get to be like.

Oh god that's going in the trostani deck since I have blade of selves, Helm of the Host, panharmonicon, Séance, God-Pharaoh's Gift and mimic vat. I do believe that in the right instance you could basically play the deck if you can populate the token enough.

I agree the free equip is a great benefit and I hate to use the dies to removal argument but the re-equip cost is really high for this deck so if/when the creature its on is removed by path, push, bolt, smother, ect it just lays there doing nothing and the mana you would need to re equip it is probably going to be used to cast a creature or spell rather than re-equip regardless of the devotion it brings. Don't get me wrong its initial usefulness can be tremendously swingy but if it cant get there after its been un-equipped it is really dead for the board state. That is why even without the free equip the adventuring gear is superior in that regard as we could actually swing the 1 equip cost and play another beater even though it wont initial equip to the creature. If we ran extra mana sources in the deck I would say the pickaxe would be the superior card since the offset of mana sources could re-equip the card.

I can see what your leaning toward but the issue is as always going to be the re equip cost, and Adventuring Gear has that beat hands down and we still don't play it. If we bounced artifacts or permanent's in some way beneficial to us overall then it wouldn't be a issue. As it stands anything we would equip it to basically has a target painted on it, that it may only get one swing or two if possible and while those swings could be very very big ones it still shrinks at end of turn.
