I would like to forward the notion that a "modal copy" would be different than just a "copy". When we say "modal copy" that can denote an entire new world of interaction. It's not just a copy. It's a modal copy. This opens up for implementation that a permanent can exist as a [modal copy] of several different things at the same time, because it's not the same as a normal copy. This is where the rules would denote that the game basically creates a "selection cache" for the [modal copy] parameters. And through this "selection cache" is how it exists as a "modal copy" of all those parameters at once.
On that note, this is where I feel like it's important to use the word "every" instead of "any". Since the word "every" is explicit to the notion of selection, and variety of selection available, when referencing this [selection cache]. Sure, the word "any" could fly, but it doesn't have as much natural persuasion I think. Running a simple emulation between players, and using the term "any" instantly triggers for me that this is going to lock players up over coherence of the "selection cache". Using the term "every" is fluid to that [selection cache], where the term and meaning of "modal copy" reinforces against players being locked up over coherence that the permanent is only one of those modes at a time (and is not all of them at the same time).
I don't really see there being any crazy priority issues, because this can basically work the same as instant spell priority based on the selected [modal copy] change parameters.
That's just my pitch on how this is best implemented and left as it is. Furthermore, how modal copies handle copiable values could also be implemented differently so that text isn't needed to say that a card retains its base values. It could just retain them automatically through its copy mode changes. And where contradictions exist, and selection is necessary, the player chooses which values to apply.
The purpose of changeling was explained towards the bottom of the design notes. That flavor text is actually the original flavor text for this design. I'm not entirely sure if the composure is exact as the original though.
The point is, as cool as it sound is way too much complicated, contrived and unconvenient for no real gain other than confusing players.
AT LEAST you should add a reminders text on how that "modal copy" works otherwise it is left really unclear.
As it is, it looks like a lot of theorycrafting without any substance to where to refer if any issues get address while actually playing the card.
Griselbrand: Not much to say here. This guy knows what he wants to be doing. Interesting resurrection ability. I would say it's fair, although obviously becomes menacing.
Tolovar: Hexproof and indestructible should be off the table. You're not even beginning to encourage challenge for yourself. I would say even, that either of these are out of taste. Rampage would be an interesting return. It combines with menace amazingly. Not saying to put those together here. Each other creature you control is a werewolf would also be interesting towards tribal buffs.
Gisa and Geralf: Makes an interesting couple. Not against the concept. I do think the effects know what they want to do, but I can't help but feel like the pair here would instead create some type of immense electromagnetic static barrier. An effect that prevents cards from being exiled to pay additional costs, or to cast spells, etc. It provides a dampener on Force of Will and Grief alternative casting methods. That would be so much more punishing.
The anti exile clause sounds fun, but I didn't meant those two to work against exile but to reward you for exiling stuff (Alas with Skaab zombies from Geralf and Red Flashback Cards from Gisa)
Added the last card nothing special just closing the color pairs, so a simple mana dork with extra steps.
It feels like a paint on the * to track down at times what abilities it has.
I propose a more simple way to word it (albeit this will end up just being a more broken version of Scion itself)
0: Origin Dragon becomes a copy of another target Dragon card on the battlefield, in a graveyard or in exile, except its name is Origin Dragon, it's a 5/5 Dragon God, and it’s legendary in addition to its other types, and it has this ability.
Lastly, Bloodthirst has to be on a permanent on the battlefield to be relevant, rather than a spell which is still on the stack.
Avacyn, Cruel Protector 4BRR
Legendary Creature - Angel
Flying, Haste, bloodthirst 3.
Other Angels you control have bloodthirst 3.
Whenever Avacyn, Cruel Protector would be destroyed for the first time each turn, regenerate it. When Avacyn regenerates this way you may destroy another target creature. If you controlled that creature, create two Blood tokens.
6/6
Bloodlord of Vaasgoth is where I based off the ability and it seems to work on cast, for some reason.
Yeah I didn't meant for the last ability to work with damage based destruction some i'm ruling it out by specifing it only only spell/abilities based destruction. Also you now get tokens from Humans being killed by the ability.
When you model an ability after an existing one you really need to use the same wording or you will end up with an ability that doesn't work and you won't know why. The Bloodlord has vampire spell GAIN bloodthirst. While your card says angels spells HAVE bloodthirst. The difference is that your angel permanents won't have bloodthirst.
Ah that is what he meant alright then changing to fully mimic BoVs ability then.
The replacement/triggered ability doesn’t really work.
First off, if Avacyn has lethal damage or -x/-6, she’ll just die again as a state based effect after the ability goes on the stack to prevent it the first time.
It’s also half worded like a replacement effect, but targets in a way that needs to be an ability that goes on the stack.
Even though regeneration isn’t really used any more, that would be a better way to handle this ability.
Lastly, Bloodthirst has to be on a permanent on the battlefield to be relevant, rather than a spell which is still on the stack.

Ulrich of the Moonmist 3GB
Legendary Creature - Human Shaman

At the beginning of each upkeep, if a player cast two or more spells last turn, sacrifice a creature you control. 3GB: Wolves and Werewolves you control get +3/+3 until end of turn. Whenever a creature blocks this turn, you create a Food Token. 4/5
This should be considered an alternate timeline version of you know who.
I don't thinkg that there are any type of creature other than Shapeshifters that has ever had Changeling so I would take it out as it makes no sense on an Avatar. (actually just checked each creature in existences with the changeling ability is in effect a shapeshifter)
Also creatures loses their counters when they die so I don't think you can trigger your cards ability, at least the way you want to.
'You may cast this card from your graveyard as long as there is another card named Corrupter of the Sixth Path on your graveeyard. You may cast this from your graveyard instead if it reincarnated three or more times.'
Is your intent to be able to cast it from the graveyard if a second copy is in play? And in addition to be able to cast from your graveyard if you have 3 in exile?
Reincarnation (As you cast this spell, you may exile a card in your graveyard named Follower of the Sixth Path and put a reincarnation counter on it. This creature has reincarnated a number of times equal to the number of card named Follower of the Sixth Path you own in exile with reincarnation counters on them.)
I assume you don't want people showing up with binders of cards so their permanents have reincarnated 200 times.
Well you'll need as many counters to do that but yeah, better be safe
'You may cast this card from your graveyard as long as there is another card named Corrupter of the Sixth Path on it.'
How would the card have another of the same card on it?
Ah lol, another copy in the graveyard, "on it" was refering to the graveyard,
I meant to requires two copies of the Corrupter in the yard in order to cast one from the graveyard. (Unless it is fulled reincarnated)
Need to reword ir better.
I got a few ideas of how to implement a Keywod with such a name, here is an example.
Follower of the Sixth Path 1W
Creature - Human Monk
Reincarnation (As you cast this spell, you may exile a card in your graveyard named Follower of the Sixth Path and put a reincarnation counter on it. This creature have reincarnated a number of times equal to the number of card named Follower of the Sixth Path you own in exile with reincarnation counters on them.)
Follower of the Sixth Path gets +1/+1 for each time it has reincarnated. If it reincarnated three or more times it also have flying, vigilance and lifelink. 2/2

This creature has reincarnated a number of times equal to the number of card named Betrayer of the Sixth Path you own in exile with reincarnation counters on them.)

First of all that would be gross, second that is not what Bloodthirst represent in this case, and that is not what Food tokens represent at all.
EDIT:EDIT: Added a new card and will also make a couple more later.
Also will update with mini bios to understand the flavor behind each one.
Yeah but would be a flavor fail
Legendary Creature - Angel
