    Look at Grim Flayer, $12 a week ago and now $23. It looks like it'll be increasing more too in the next couple of days, maybe capping at $30. Is anyone here making good money from speculating card price increases?

    In a set there are definitely a few cards that begin selling at a moderate to low price because people are unsure of the value of the card in the meta. During this time, let's say you buy 10, 20, or even more copies of the card. Suddenly a couple months later the cards that you bought shot up in price. A good example of this would be Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. When it came out you could get it for $25-30 and then 3 months later it shot up to $80. You could then mass sell at that point and make more than double your money back. Does anyone here actually do this?

    Another example would be Nightveil Specter. Was worth literally nothing at $1.00 and then shot up to $10 in 3-4 months. If you bought 50 copies you would've spent $50 and be able to sell for $500. Of course I like to play magic, but why not play magic but also make some money on the side by buying out cards when they're low, and mass selling when they're at a peak price?

    You are right that everyone gets their own packs. You get 6 total along with a random promo foil that you can use in your deck. Limited in general is not my strong suit, so hopefully someone else can comment on actual tips for deckbuilding. However, I can comment on midnight prereleases.

    As with anything, it depends on where where you go. The place I go to prereleases always fills out except for 2HG on Sunday (which is what I prefer playing). I have been to a couple midnights and the last I went to was for Eldritch Moon. They were sold out and every spot was taken. This meant there were about 110-120 people (I forget exactly how many tables they had). So the turnout was pretty good.

    Just remember to get some sleep beforehand. While it is fun and playing Magic can be enough to keep you awake, I have seen people that are tired enough that they start making play mistakes the end up costing them games.

    I see, that sounds like a huge turn out. I can't wait to partake. I've been playing a Grixis (black/red/blue) deck in standard since eldritch moon but I think I might have to completely go with another deck once kaladesh is released. I'm thinking the artifacts and new mechanics for the cards will be much much stronger in the new meta compared to the current deck I have now

    I'm planning to go to the Kaladesh midnight pre-release. Super excited, first pre-release ever. What's the turn out for a midnight pre-release? It's the first pre-release of the set but then again it's at 12 am so one would think people would be sleeping instead of up from 12-5 am playing magic lol. I hope it's a huge turnout. Pre-release is different from draft in that everyone gets their own full packs right? So I guess one of the factors to winning is getting lucky with your packs and opening up some serious bomb cards. Any deck construction tips for kaladesh pre-release? Thanks all

    Collective brutality is a must-play in a burn deck that includes black. As you say it can discard Alms of the Vein and Fiery Temper.

    Also if you have Thermo-Alchemist in play, he untaps for EACH of those spells you cast for up to 3 additional points of damage.

    StrictlyBetterMTG did a Deck Tech on this on his YouTube channel;
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNZr6dYieb0

    And I played that deck over on my channel - MTG Deck Busters;
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqkRetfOFSF1WPCHoDp0uEYkGdwzTlSKq

    So if you've been thinking about using this combination I recommend you check those videos out if you'd like to see how they play.

    This is correct and this is exactly the type of deck I'm playing right now. It literally churns out damage turn by turn, before you know it your opponent is down to half life, 1/4th life, and then no life. As far as Collective Brutality goes, it's a fantastic card. Discard your madness cards for maximum effects. It's so OP in a way. Play collective brutality, tap 2 mana, discard alms and fiery temper, do 6 damage gain 3 life, and now you have access to all 3 modes. So that's -2 more damage, possible removal of another creature and you see their hand. Great card, highly recommended

    Hi, I have been playing MTG for several years. I like the game because it stimulates my mind and allows me to crush my opponents in games and feel good about myself. I also like the artwork of certain cards like Archangel Avacyn and Day of Judgement. Right now I play standard because I believe it to be the cheapest of competitive play and I'm playing a grixis deck with thermo alchemist and a lot of spells. I play online and occasionally at my LGS but not so much because I haven't bought my complete deck, I'm low on money right now. Once kaladesh is released I am looking to improve my grixis deck 10 fold and start rolling kids at my LGS and taking home the glory and prizes every friday
