My bro in law is running GR TaN combo. He's looking for ways to help against Grixis control and BGx match ups. Spot removal and counter magic is just giving his untap elves and enchantments trouble. Any suggestions?
My SB is kind of everywhere. Im thinking of throwing in some Thrun, the Last Troll for mirror/jund/junk decks. I know I need some Fulminator Mage but i'd rather drop that kind of cash on LotV at the moment. My LGS meta kind of jumps around, but the consistent players are affinity, rw LD, jund, ad nasuem, Tooth and Nail combo, and lantern.
Any advice on tweaks or random suggestions would be appreciated - thanks.
What's everyone's thoughts on Wotc basically saying they don't support modern anymore VIA removing it from all major events from here on out? I understand that pros don't like it and wotc doesn't make that much money from it, but isn't it extremely popular? Will this impact prices of cards? Will LGS still support sanctioned tournaments for modern? I'm still pretty new coming back to magic, and modern is honestly the only thing that brought me back to the game. Sucks to see wotc basically dropping it like legacy.
just curious to hear what everyone else's thoughts on the matter is. Thanks.
I saw that list yes but I still think playing Jund or Junk is better because third color gives you access to more cards. I think having third color that provides more options to you is better than less greedy mana base you have with two colors and the option of playing more Ghost Quarters.
It's still a decent deck but I think other two are better.
I agree that jund/junk have a lot more options - but what is better, having more options or a higher amount of card advantage and less disadvantages? Running essentially 7 bob's and more man-lands seems strong.
Nice to see this threads getting some movement! My girlfriend started playing Modern with me and she loves kithkin (it stems back when I played it as a standard deck back when it was legal, and she essential stole it from me once I switched over to 5cc/faeries.) We splashed red in for bolts/boros charms since she was having troubles finishing off the games in some cases.
She likes the harriers since her brother plays TaN Combo with emmy. It's also pretty usefel against mid-range stuff to tap big goyfs or stuff that are out of bolt range. She also has the Mirran crusaders against me, being a g/b player
Do you guys think that since BG limits its self to only 2 colors, it makes it much easier to pull of the double-green drops and still maintain a turn 1 thoughtseize/inquisition?
It gets better for sure.
You need 14 untapped black mana sources to consistantly cast turn 1 IOK/TS and you need 18 green sources to consistantly cast a turn 3 Courser with double green.
This list has 15 black sources, so yes to the first one and 20 green sources, so also yes to the second one. However, this list runs 9 potential tapped lands, which I think is a bit high. I would reduce the number of manlands there. But, as stated, Courser on turn 3 and IOK/TS on Turn 1 is basically no problem.
I understand treetops. I play with 2 and always say I want to up them to 3 since i am never disappointed with them. But running 4 plus 1 hissing seems a bit much. Is hissing really that good?
Gives me a bit of hope for rock to be a viable choices between junk/jund/rock. He rand 3 coursers and 4 Bobs though - that's some intense card advantage.

I'm actually going to disagree with everyone here, get your verdant catacombs first. Always, always have an established mana base before anything else. Black is the most important color in Junk and Jund. Get it ASAP.
LOTV has a very good chance of being reprinted in like a month. She is probably the second most important card in GBx (After Goyf).
Bob is still unknown whether or not to be good in Junk, but he's obviously a must in Jund.
I am running only BG ATM. can't afford the land structure for junk/jund. I'm running 4 check lands, 2 shock, 2 blooming marsh and 2 llanowar wastes. You think picking up 4 verdant catacombs would make that much of an impact? I almost always have a swamp source turn 1, just don't have the fetches for thinning.
I've ran it a couple of times with mild success, but I think it has some hope since it seems to have a stronger control matchup.

Since I am having no luck with this setup, I was considering going with BG eldrazi or 8rack. Since I have most of the cards for each.
Most of my meta is lantern control and scapeshift, with a little bit of affinity and Tooth and Nail/tron combo.
I would go with This as an 8rack deck

18 Swamp
4 Mutavault
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 Shrieking Affliction
2 Dismember
2 Fatal Push
