this deck could use Genesis Chamber and/or Elemental Mastery for the lulz

I have a deck that's very similar to yours... I use Ajani's Pridemate and Viscera Seerin it also.

I'd Say Soul of the harvest is vastly superior to Harmonize in this kind of deck.

Use Kessig Wolf Run as an 1of with some land that can produce red.

I's a very powerful win condition with Dungrove Elder and you can tutor it with primeval titan

You could try Avenger of Zendinkar and Omnath, Locus of Mana also

[*]Nighthowler with Boon Satyr on top of it: WTF?[/list]

    LOL! yeah....
    this creates serious memory issues.

a person that just came and saw the table cannot properly identify what's going on.
    nice catch.

Still... no matter what bestow creature is enchanting what, the P/T ratio and abilities are always the same.

stuff like the name of the creature, color and copiable characteristics are different though.
The most recurring issue in this case would be determining which of the two creatures would remain in the battleflied after the other one was killed.
    List tags are malformed.

This is certainly one of the most powerful one drops ever printed.
The metagame is FULL of multicolored spells and permanents in every format, this guy is quasi unblockable against a fair amount of competitive decks in a lot of formats.
it has 2 power for 1 mana, dodges a lot of relevant removal, and it's just a 1 drop!!!!

why does it matter your 1 drop won't pass the bolt test?
if you want to burn your Bolt on my 1 drop, please, be my guest.

In white, the only 1drop that's clearly better than this guy I remember from the top of my head is Mother of Runes.

Sen Triplets is an auto shoe in.
Daxos of Meletis is also coming in Theros.

I'd Play 2 Sen Triplets, 4 Daxos, 4 Nightveil Specters and fill every other slot with control cards and a solid mana base.
    then call it a day.

    why would they be messy?
I think they're just mostly uninspiring and underwhelming.

I have some interest in Boon Satyr and none else.

I don't agree that much about Genesis Wave being an early game tutor....
I mean, if you want it to be able to put your walls into play, you'll need at least 6 manas on it, so it can exile and put 3 cards into play, IF, they cost 3 or less...
If you have 2 Primal Surges and no additional non permanents, for 10 manas, you're likely to put 10-20 cards into play even if they cost a lot more than the 7 you'd net for a genesis wave for that same 10 mana.

well, with axebane guardian, you probably won't need any land other than basic forests to make anything hardcastable with wall mana.

if you really want to make umbral mantle to make you walls 1000/1000 then you might want to use Momentous Fall in place of Genesis Wave again to just draw your entire deck(just don't mill yourself to death... lol), or Fling for an easy kill.

either way, your deck seems ready to go as is.

"Defenderball, Minus The Ball"Magic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards
    Defender('s) - Cantrip: 12
    4x Gatecreeper Vine
    4x Wall of Blossoms
    4x Carven Caryatid

    Defender('s) - Ramp: 12
    4x Vine Trellis
    4x Overgrown Battlement
    4x Axebane Guardian

    Defender('s) - Win Condition: 2
    2x Vent Sentinel

    Infinite Mana Engine: 4
    4x Umbral Mantle

    Alternate Win Condiotion: 4
    4x Worldspine Wurm

    Fetch: 4
    4x Genesis Wave

    Lands: 22
    4x Gruul Guildgate
    18x Forest

Revised List. With hydra gone, my problem with Genesis Wave summoning a dead hydra is gone, so out with Enshrined Memories.

Vent Sentinel does seem like a good fit, but being that I'm still basically mono green, I really don't want to splash more then 2 off color cards in the whole deck.

Worldspine Wurm fits this deck more and more, as I think about it. With as much ramp as I have, hard casting it is no problem. As well, Genesis Wave could let me sneak it out if I can pay enough for it, and if I don't, it just shuffles back into my library anyway and negates Genesis Waves drawback. Due to its graveyard trigger ability, its also basically "uncounterable" as far as I'm concerned, as I'll eventually get it back to try and cast again, so that helps take care of my friend who seems to be building a mono-blue control deck with out $2.00 max (per card) ruleset.

I have also just considered Akroma, Angel of Fury for the 2 off color, infinite mana abusing slots. She is literally uncountable, and swings for infinite trample damage on the next turn. My only problem with it, is that costing so much, and not having the ability to shuffle back into my deck, if I have to Genesis Wave early for a low amount just to setup board pressure and get my combos online, I might hit her, and not be allowed to genesis her to play and destroy a win condition.

I also took out the Citanul Flutes, as they were redundant with the addition of Genesis Wave. I'm not sure what to do with these 2 slots however, and just ended up adding 2 more land, but 22 land in a deck with 12 ramp creatures seems high... So I'm not sure that's the best use of those 2 slots I freed up.

Ok, now you need to be a little less of a slave for your theme.
Get some removal running so you can actually deal with something.

I'd drop the Umbral Mantles for some removal...
Maybe Beast Within as you'd have zero issues blocking it's tokens.
Or acidic Slimes which are fetchable via Genesis Wave.

Also, maybe I'd forget about genesis wave and play Primal Surge instead as a 2of.
Add 2 Fires of Yavimaya along with it so you'll win on the spot as soon as you cast primal surge

Another card that's awesome with an engine like this would be the lord of all hatebears... Lurking Predators

To make the deck perfect you'd need 4 Green Sun's Zenith and a Dryad Arbor but those are out of budget... lol

you should really be playing Vent Sentinel....

use Grull Guildgates you can fetch with your gatecreepers to generate those red mana.

I'd say Quest for Renewal would be quite good in this deck also.

so for instance the card draco would cost 10 less if i had on the field a stomping ground, a steam vents, and a godless shrine?

    Yes.
you don't need 5 lands, for instance, if you just have, let's say....
a Darksteel Citadel and a Prismatic Omen, Draco already costs 10 less to play.

Pucca's Mischief is just funny. Give it to them, steal their stuff, blink it back? Kind of slow, but a nice way to steal things. I might have to run that.... Add in some fun blinkable threats...

Man I need a clear vision of this deck.

And yeah, I definitely want a fun deck. Instant I win buttons aren't fun. Ah, the annoyance of being a Johnny who loves the thrill more than the victory...

unfortunately the deck is too slow for competitive constructed, but it's very strong once it gets going, it tramples over creature decks for free if it survives until Parallax Wave and/or stonehorn dignatary is in play.

Venser makes the deck awesome, but he's not really necessary for the deck to work in a satisfying manner.

this deck is a powerful control deck, I used Meddling Mages and Phyrexian Revokers on it, and they're awesome with blink engines, as you can keep changing the cards they're naming, depending on your kitchen meta, you'll probably need those to protect some of your important stuff.

What I like the most about this deck is that it plays a clear aggro vs control, and play a clear control vs aggros.

It's contructed to trample over creature heavy builds, but it has 30 creatures, so it's damn quick to kill creatureless decks.

Venser's -1 is quite often your win condition.
you make your board, control stuff, goes on and on blinking Blade Splicers to make more tokens and grow your Champions of Parish, then, when you have over 20 power in the battlefield, you activate venser's -1, attack and win.

It's a pretty powerful deck, unfortunately Parallax Wave makes it only Legacy legal... and it's just not fast enough for competitive Legacy....
If there was a good replacement for Parallax Wave, I'd give this deck a try in modern Smile

Dang, that's downright evil. I love it. I have the landbase, aside from the fetches and flagstones, so that shouldn't be a problem. I do like Wall of Omens, Fiend Hunter, and the Warder in here. I used the latter two in INN standard for a bit.

I'm basically setting this deck up for my friends. They like magic, but don't want to invest too much, so we agreed to build cheaper casual decks.

I do like the deck you provided. It looks like a lot of fun, but I want to make something that isn't too infinite combo. I'm the most experienced magic player in that group, and I want to set the tone. Something good, but not infinite. That's what EDH is for.

But once people start going for infinite, because it probably will happen, I'll add in parallax wave.

    Any other suggestions?

    hahaha
    yeah, I undestand that....

I even ended up removing the fiend hunters and adding Banisher Priests in their place just to remove the loop.

The deck is fun, but the combo is dumb, when it gets online, you win on the spot, so, the fun ends... and the point of casual with it.

A card I love to use in this deck once in a while is Puca's Mischief as you can get your dudes back with Venser or Flickerwisp.
And... it has a GOAT SMOKING PIPE in the freaking art!
    How awesome is that?

With Daxos of Meletis doing the same thing with the whole "Spend any mana" do you guys think we will see a cycle with this for every colour in Theros?

for me, Daxos seems like it was designed by WotC interns and it finished with a W instead of B.

Since when? Just how old is Spiritmonger, really?

Well... Spiritmonger was a staple in it's age, it was like "the best creature ever".
today, if they reprint it, it wouldn't come close to warp the format.... I'm not even sure it would be extensively played.

I really feel wizards should stop making creatures better while making spells worse...
at least stop making spells worse, lol.
