just a thought I'd like to express after much reflection and logical thinking.

A forum is very much like a society, it's a perfect model of a society at large on a smaller scale complete with judicion and legislation. when executing laws, there is a balance between observing the intention, which requires more of a case by case basis, or absolute cold unthinking execution of the laws, which is simpler and more universally applied. In the case of large states, the last one is more necessary, since the judges and juries cannot be allowed to rule with their heart but their head.

however, what about the case of small societies, especially ones that purport a sense of familiar community. Is the absolute execution of protocol regardless of intent to upkeep an example necessary in a society so small?

Just like large societies need a seperation of church and state, there needs to exist a seperation of heart and mind for their smaller counterparts, otherwise, those in power would be able to pick and choose as they see fit, claiming principal when all other logical arguements fail, whereas those not in power will not be able to claim such for any reason. In cases of these, there is a seperation of law execution and justice.

In gaming news, I hear that the FFT remake for the PSP will have some new things added. I can always emulate it, so I'm not worried. Also, I heard that the new Fire Emblem (YAY!) game comes out in November. So I'll have to get that on top of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros., which has Ike as a character! *Lovingly shakes a fist at Nintendo*

I can't wait myself, but pit and pokemon trainer will be my reason. The fact they are using the first pokemon only serve to further make me believe that the pokemon of melee, and poke floats was just a way to showcase second generation pokemon.

I rarely watch tv, it's a matter of not having cable where I am, and not wanting to spend money if I'm so busy, I am suprised how much tv reflects the internet when it comes to pop culture and social memes, it's creepy to come back home on visits and see how it's evolved in say, half a year since I last saw things.

    hello all.

I'm in my hometown of Odessa TX for the weekend, after a half week of craziness, the flat, swampy city of Odessa manages to be a vacation compared to the boredom of Alpine, imagine that. My birthday is coming up Sunday so that's why I'm going all over, I want my 24th birthday not to be nearly as lame as the last three were.

After some discussion with people, I decided to upload an image of my actual self as an avatar, I was skeptical at first as I am hesitant to give my appearance online, but I'm tryinng to loosen up a bit and relax myself, besides, I see some of you other people posting photos o ya'll selves, and I assume you are fine.

And the fact that everyone else does it is a perfect reason to do something!

I just support you people and all that you do Smile

rescuing puppies and hurling giant agglutinated piles of nuclear weapons into the sun; all in a day's work.

just joshing you; welcome. I assume we are not heated in the core of a discussion, so I hope I am not breeching protocol but asking a brief magic question. I have an aversion to going to other threads becuase of past experiences. Here's what I have been wondering. I got my very first magic cards about a week ago, a theme deck, if I were to remove a card or two and replace them with others to fit my liking, it's it not considered said theme deck anymore?

With a christian teacher, do you think that is possible? I read a good part of the bible. Read revelations a couple of times, and read genesis and St Johns evangel as well as some of the older books. And its impossible to not influence yourself from them since they are talking about the religion all.the.time.

So my opinion is that the bible shouldn't be taught as a literature subject

    hello all; dropping in again.

I agree; however much of a majority of society believe in a certain religion, that cannot be reflected in the teachings of literature. As much as the opponents of this concept want to say that educational unbias is catering to the very few, the very few still want an education where a religion they don't have isnt' taught as truth.

This is assuming that When religious text is taught in schools that we cannot guarantee that teachers will be influenced by their beliefs, which is true, since we can't look over every educator's shoulder. Even the best most respectable history professor I had could not help but inject a momentary political bias. Sure I agreed with him, but suppose there had been a singular student with a dissenting belief, how he would have silenced himself.

however, there would be a great allure in joining the ghost council. If I were in a position of power, I can easily see myself regarding my body as merely an anchor until I can look all cool and ectoplasmic in the Obzedat.

just keeping myself updated and letting you all know I am still around. I fear when we get to a topic I can type a long post about, someone'd have forgotten about me.

I'm awaiting an important message that will determine my possible stay to mtgsalvation, until then, hope to hear form someone. it's just more fun to learn the rules from a person than a keyword wiki.

I'm pretty short, I'm 5'1'', and so I aspire to be with a person who is close to my height, but a few inches taller is fine. But I'm a single guy myself and I think my personality type is meant for it; heh heh.

If I could change anything about myself, I would only change my nose I hate it. I'm fine with everything else.

hello all. I've been to this forum for a week or so I believe. I've done a bit of searching for my natural place in this vast forum, and on the verge of deleting my account, my friend sakura suggested I give this place a try.

I just might stick to this thread for all my needs, so forgive me if I post something unrelated in the future. My goal is to make freinds who play magic, as I am new to the game too, get explantions for things I may run into and find co-conspirators and inspiration for a card game I'm making.

Oh yea, I just remembered I have my own thread so I'll check that as well, heh. I am in a mellow enough mood that I won't bring up the issue of my near exodus, but my burning sense of justice will have me speak sometime in the future no doubt, if I do, just pass me off as an izzet crackpot until I cool off, we all need to vent, eh?

anyway, glad to be here, and sorry for possible topic derailment.

    Update:
I've decided that cards will have a cost, and a certain amount of cost will be allowed at a time. There might be spells, that have a cost, or locations that provide assistance, but mostly people. All three types will be able to put counters in play that represent the bulk of the compie fighters.

for magicians they will be represented by magic they "send out" sort of like creating fightiers out of scarecrows or something, but they specialty will be putting more powerful counters that are short lived, representing momentary magic like a blast.
politicians will use counters that represent "troopers" or lawmen. they will be worst at counters since they put laws into play, which you can equate with magic's enchantments.
clergy's counters will represent loyal enthusiasts, baptists (not the religion, I mean "enlightened ones") or vigilantes. counter wise, clergy will be quantity as opposed to magicians' quality.

Also, there will be individual cards that are aimed at the dominated type for cheap and the dominating type for more expensive, making it difficult to battle a mono dominating type. To keep it from being like an actual game of rock paper scissors, there will be dual types, for which I am currently trying to come up for each of the three combinations. And I also am going to work on making more cards aimed at the civilians so I can make them worth while. I want to eventually make ignoring the civilian commodity require ignoring good cards and being foolish.

with only a certain number of points allowed. You can focus on characters that send counters out to battle, or ones that do other abilities. Abilities may also discard or exhaust counters pretty much like energy. These ideas are a compilation of many ideas from many people over the past week or so and I appreciate all ideas, my game idea is starting to materialize before me.

trial and error is another big component, and so since I use index cards if I make a loser card, no huge resource loss for me, I've made quite a few. If anyone has an idea for an actual card, I'd be happy to continue to bounce ideas to and fro. I like bouncing suchly.

too bad it ends in "-ism" right? words that have that ending tend to have a negative connotation, and imply extremist or insurrection.

It's refreshing to come to this thread because it's one of the only threads where I feel "safe" if you know what I mean, by "safe" I mean I know there is no threat of someone quoting me and nit picking my posts and being angry and sarcastic about what I write. I'm not an argumenitive person, but arguing with people seems to be a sport around here, and in forums in general. I have a psychological philosophy about these type of people but I'll stop there.

I know it's a change of subject but I had to add it, but at least I have the benefit of possibly finding out that it's common and expected in forums and I'll know to quit forums for good if I can never hope to escape it.

anyway. I own a pair of plaid shorts so not necesarily for "frat boys". Though I belong to Alpha Psi Omega, it's an honor society, not a frat. I own plenty of casual clothes, so I'll buy more nice clothes anyway. We will be in a hotel in the theatre district and during the time of the thanksgiving day parade. Erasmus, what part of New York do you live?

Wow Alpine is sooooooo far away. Small states have it so easy. You say "I'm from North Dakota" and someone else is like "Wow small world we'll visit we're like 30 minutes apart."

But in Texas it's, "I'm from Texas!" "Oh yeah me too!" "We'll.....never see each other because were six hours apart."

    Lol.

And small towns in Texas are the WORST. Have you gotten any guff for being one of them gays?

yea, it's a small town, population of about 7,000, 2,000 of which are the university. and no, no guff, you may not think so but for some reason, west texas is very liberal, lesbians can hold hands on campus, and there are lots of gays. My hometown Odessa has a gay club and all. Lot o people discontented with our president and governor in this part of the state, if a revolution were to ever break out, it'll probably base here.

this thread gave me an interesting thought:

speaking of someone after they died is much like speaking about someone after they have left the room. You are more inclined to say what you really think about them. only with a dead person, you get the luxury of saying it directly to them without their arguing back.

I say speak of the dead the way you speak of them in life, better yet, tell them right now what they think that way they can "appreciate" it better; and we only have to deal with them, rather than a whole clan of mourning loved ones.

And the whole world can be a more honest place. I'm not a hateful person, but if I had something profoundly negative to say about someone, I would not have the patience to wait til they died.
