Kenaron316 posted a message on Deathbellow War CryI'm going to go on record that Minitaur tribal isn't going to make the top 8 at the next Mythic Champions, unless there's some new blood for that tribe that is just jaw-dropping. As someone who built a Didgeridoo casual deck the second Mistform Ultimus came out, I've noticed that as far as tribes go Minotaurs don't have what it takes to be called a full strategy. You have no early plays in tribe, for instance, and they can't decide what tribes besides red to make them so its hard to build a coherent strategy without taking some less than optimal members.Posted in: Deathbellow War Cry
I would love for a new 3 CMC legendary Minotaur bombshell to invalidate everything I just said but I don't feel its particularly likely. This is going to be the rare you least hope to open in your packs. -

Louis of the Oak posted a message on Deathbellow War CryNah Blood. First of all Dragonstorm is not in Pioneer. This card is, as are most of the good minotaurs. Also you don't have to play 3 spells before you play this one giving you much more deck-building flexibility. When you cast this you get a:Posted in: Deathbellow War Cry
Kragma Warcaller (which gives all minotaurs +2/+0 and Haste),
Minotaur Aggressor (6/2 Haste),
Barging Sergeant 4/2 Haste with mentor,
and then Neheb, the worthy (+2/+0 to other minotaurs) or another Minotaur.
With those, if you have one or less cards in your hand that's 35 Firststrike, Haste Damage.
You don't fill your deck with Minos you just play these 4 and maybe a few doubles to make sure you can search for them even if one is already in your hand.

HolyProxyBatman posted a message on Grasping GiantIn Limited, this will be ridiculous. Having Vigilance is pretty devastating when the creature can't be killed in combat. And as people in Pre-releases can be pretty dumb, I'm looking forward to people throwing multiple blockers at it, not realizing they all go bye-bye.Posted in: Grasping Giant -

Kenaron316 posted a message on Tahngarth, First MateSeeing all of the other legendary persona of this age get newer, better cards and Tahngarth getting something flatly worse than his original is upsetting. The only benefit is being allowed to use green cards if he's your commander, and minotaur tribal effects are either mono-red or red/black. This card really missed the mark. He's not impressivly big and the majority of his textbox is overrun with an incredibly narrow application that puts him at severe risk.Posted in: Tahngarth, First Mate -

ClassicRandolph posted a message on Spark DoubleWhat a crybaby. Per the tournament results, control isn't dominating anything. Big Red/Gruul Aggro, Mono U Tempo, and WWx ha e the highest win rates right now. Sultai Midrange and Simic Nexus are next (the latter of which is a combo deck), and then Esper Control and Temur Reclamation. Two mainstream control decks in the format and they aren't dominating anything. Remember people thought Teferi was going to shoot up to $70+ once it got Orzhov and Azorius Guilds, and yet now it's at its lowest going rate under $40. It went down. It's even less prevalent in the format than it was before Allegiance. A set which you same people swore wouldn't change Standard, but then it changed pretty much everything.Posted in: Spark Double
Reading a spoiler tells us nothing about an upcoming format. The internet doomsday patrol is currently batting 0.000 when predicting the impact new cards will have. Always broad, sweeping extremes and talking hopeless like Eeyore. These cards weren't whimsically designed over a weekend. They have been playtested by groups including pro players for over 18 months.
So either freak out and be wrong (and then back pedal into trying to sound reasonable when called out about it); or wait until we can all play with the cards and figure out for real what's happening. -
