After I wrote that, I went 1-2 drop at fnm, losing to Eldrazi Tron (2maindeck ulamogs with servant of the conduit to search them up) and mono white hate bears with a grave misplay. Opponent goes plains plains arbitor, I decide on a bridge instead of moon, he gqs me and I get locked under a thalia and 2 mana. Oh well, bad beats. Gonna swap to grishoalbrand next week to trip them up.

Edit: orcish librarian is cute but I don’t think it will work how we want. The random part is harsh. You do get to look at the cards before you put them back but possibly bricking hard and ultimately brainstorm locking yourself is bad.

Still grinding fnm, going 3-0-1 and 3-1 every night. Standard build of 5 rituals, 1 hazoret, 4 rabble, 2 koth 4 Chandra main. Only had tormenting voice once in the past 2 weeks, I do miss the scry off of magma jet, abrade is so-so, but haven’t got storm yet. I lose to burn a lot, I just always seem to draw the wrong half.

The only thing about abrade is that it could be a dead card in certain matchups. I agree the 3 damage is relevant against storm though.

Swept FMM (TNM) again. Most notably was against boggles where I led with a turn 1 chalice on 1 and turn 2 anger.

So what is the general gameplan against storm? Look for a fast chalice on 2, fast rabble game 1 and game 2 bring in eidolon, cage, trinisphere, and look for an early rabble?

    • Not only do I never want to draw a faithless looting, I also never want to see a faithless looting in my opening hand.
    • If I'm casting a faithless looting from my opening hand, that's a hand I should have mulled away.

Ok, the same exact thing can be said if t voice, the only difference is when facing 1/1s, the better late game to continue the lock with an empty hand is faithless.

We can all agree we need some sort of filtering but I don’t think we need things that go against the plan of being able to be stranded in our hand regardless of if we chalice or not. I’d take a magma jet over voice any day, not only am I trying to close out the game quicker, I can dig at instant speed to set up a Chandra +1 or dig for lands and sideboard cards.

I am just curious as to why you have such a hard on for t voice? The name of the game is drop locks and keep an empty hand, why are you holding cards to voice into a bigger hand that decreases your chances of emptying your hand? The longer the game goes to more chances the opponent has to get out from the lock.

Although this is correct, there are a few times where it matters.

I stand by faithless looting. It is about even with t voice except for one thing. Under a Chandra emblem, looting is 10 damage for 4 mana all the time. T voice is 5-10 depending on what you hit.

The outcome was neither mattered but the scry was useful or not?

Question for the fellows here. What are our outs to worship/leyline? Chandra’s +1 gets around leyline but worship + rhonas is unbeatable. I have a 1 of ratchet bomb in the side but that’s barely a hedge.

I am also hesitant on the flex slots. I feel like magma jet is too useful (scry) to cut but the molten rain could be useful, currently I am going to try a 3/1 split tomorrow. I constantly find myself cutting hazoret because it most games he is kind of useless. Is he really worth running?

The only tier 1 deck that uses chalice is eldrazi tron. If anything has a chance at being banned, it is eldrazi temple, or manamorphose/past in flames. Wizards hate storm.

I think having 0 creature interaction is wrong. Gw decks have quazali pridemage (or whatever, that gw that can pay 1 to destroy target artifact or enchant with exalted). Killing that is so key. Killing a 0 power creature can be so key because of the ability to get under bridge.

I embrace the salt life. I keep contacting ultimate guard so I can obtain a set of white borderfies to white border my entire deck. I don't take it to fnm too often (then people start dedicating sideboard hate) but when I pull it out it's fun. For me at least.

Edit: also depending on the meta in December, I might take it to the next gp that comes near me.

I am on mobile so I can't really throw together anything fancy, normal 2 koth 4 Chandra build, 4 rituals, 1 pk, 1 magus, 3 jets, 2 faithless looting, 2 main deck sweltering suns.

Sideboard I ran 2 eidolon, 2 spellskite, 1 torpor orb,2 grafdiggers cage, 1 dampening matrix, 1 ratchet bomb, 1 anger, 1 shattering spree, 1 phyrexian revoker, 2 abrade, 1 witchbane orb.

Affinity is not hot right now locally but the abrades came in handy for ad naus. But other than that I never sided them in. The only thing I would want is maybe another looting effect, or lifegain as a hedge against burn to slow them down if we cannot find a chalice.

Edit: my mb deck list is similar except I have 1 more koth, 1 more jet, 1 less magus, 1 less pia, no slagstorm, no anger, no pyretic

Took this to a scg iq and got 10th out of 46. Pretty basic deck list.

    Round 1: bant spirits 2-0 (W)

Game 1 got the lock of bridge, moon, chalice, koth and Chandra. Game 2, he drops a worship but I get the lock down. Ultimate Chandra and slowly kill all his creatures.

    Round 2: burn 1-2 (L)

Game 1 I get the lock of chalice on 1 and 2. Game 2 he burns me out quick. Game 3, I missed attacking with 2 pk thops and those 2 points of damage cost me the game.

    Round 3: scapeshift 2-0 (W)

Game 1 I land a rabble master into blood moon and close it out fast. Game 2 follows suit. Easiest match.

    Round 4: elves 2-1 (W)

Round 1 I miss on lands and lose. Round 2 I get the lock but he lands a throne of the god pharoh to combo with his tap elves. I keep his elf supply low and emblem koth for the slow win on 3 mountains. Round 3 he plays no basics and I blood moon him out.

    Round 5: scapeshift 1-2 (L)

Game 1 I moon him out on a mulligan to 5. Game 2 I have to mull down to 5 again and see nothing. Game 3 I mulligan yet again to 5 and my only moon effect was a magus. Could never find a real moon, he sweltering suns my magus and domes me.

    Round 6: ad nauseam 2-1 (W)

Game 1 he gets me fast before I can find a lock. Game 2 an early moon shuts him down and chalice on 1 and 2 plus rabble beats wins. Game 3 another fast moon and chalice with rabble beats wins the game.

Overall I believe this was a great choice for my meta. It had game against all the decks I saw, and had I not missed 2 points of damage I might have went undefeated to top 8.

Is there any way to interact with those stupid cage counters?
