Went to another PPTQ and got lost in the semifinals (again). Top 4 was 3 tron decks and 1 amulet. I was paired against the amulet Titan and lost in 3. Had to mull to 4. Had I drew a natures claim I could have won, he kept 2 amulets and drew a 3rd and I had a surgical.... so close yet again. I can’t seem to close out. I consistently get top 8 but can’t finish it.
Tron did end up winning (GR tron) but I’m not sold on the red splash over mono green.
Also I totally won the quarterfinals against spirits with platinum angel. Saved me game 2 when he would have killed me turn 4 (he was on the play).
Went to dallas, overall my team went 5-4. I personally was 5-2-2, losing only to storm and infect. Went against a different deck each match, it was fun but a little unfortunate. I hate storm
I believe talks of bannings is against the forum rules. There is a dedicated forum for that.
I cut worldbreaker from the main to the side and put in a dismember. I still don't want to cut plat angel. Ended up shaving a wail from the side, and replaced loam for crucible, had a discussion with some buddies and loam is cute but crucible is better. I disagree because g2 they are bringing in artifact hate as well as land hate, and loam doesn't fall to artifact hate like crucible. But I will try it for Dallas.
Another PPTQ, another loss in the quarterfinals in the top 8. The top 8 was atrocious for tron, 2 infect, ponza(ish), devoted vizier company, grixis control, modular affinity, grixis death shadow. I got turn 3 combo'd both games 1 and 3 against vizier company. :/
Did happen to go undefeated and double ID into the top 8 in a 71 person PPTQ, coming out first overall in standings. Decks I beat:
1) Jeskai Control
2) Ad Nauseum
3) Boggles
4) Modular Affinity
5) Grixis Control
6) ID
7) ID
Here is the list I have been having a lot of success with lately at tournaments. I have frequently Top-8'd with it at IQs and PPTQs. Some of my card choices: Platinum Angel - a hedge against the worse matchups game 1, like burn and infect. 3 Ballista - another hedge against the go wide decks, having more sources of pinging has helped me. 0 dismembers main - I have no idea what to cut for some maindeck removal, maybe an Ugin because the format is extremely fast right now. Urza's Factory - in grindy matchups, dead draws late game turn into 2/2's. Helpful chump blockers against agro decks, and late game pressure against control. This card has won me many games because people don't expect it/forget about it.
Life from the loam - allows you to get back multiple utility lands, and costs 1 less than Crucible so against FoR on the draw it can be very helpful. I could see myself swapping it out. Warping Wail - Some of the harder to interact with decks, like living end and storm, can help you counter something (maybe). The exile effect is also very relevant. Emrakul is obviously for the control matchups (and storm). Taking over their turn is game over.
My main issue is trying to fit a dismember in. I really don't want to cut the angel: it is so helpful in some of the worst matchups game 1. I am prepping for the team open in dallas.
In the paper world, is it worth it to do the resiviour plan? Also is there a Sideboarding guide? I went through a few pages but failed to find. I built this and plan to make it my primary over tron until the tron hate dies down a little.
I took this to an IQ and got to the semi finals, losing to infect in Swiss and tron in semi. My only 2 losses for the day were the two finalists, deck is real strong.

Sell me on the red splash!
Beat: Counters Company, bant spirits, and nauseum and double drew to top 8. Beat Grixis delver then lost to bridgevine.
In the bridgevine match I mulled to 6 and kept:
Mine
Mine
O stone
Ulamog
Surgical
Surgical
Never found the 5th land for ostone else I might have had a chance. He would have had a turn 1 vengevine had I not had surgical.

And oppositions to cutting WB from the main?
