Hi guys I want to share my 1st experience with the deck in 1st torunamnet - sincerely I did't expect to make so bad... 0-3 I think it was the 1st time in years I just loose so many games - reason why I want to play it.
the idea of the deck was based on Disgrutling Egg + racing089 decks ideas side.
when testing I noticed the power of Opal, then cards like signets or Pentad seemed bad cards. pentad was good at playing whirs - but also opals. then I just thougth in taking out petals and maximicing the odds to ASAP put online opals then I included liars and expedition and 3rd citadel, hanving total 12 <=1 mana cost artifacts, I had the idea of line plays like play any <=1 mana cost then a 2 card cost - like sword or thopter, then opal for Tezz/jace or whir.
I had an oportunity to do like pendulums then baubles then 2 opals into tezz on 2nd turn!
well now the match ups:
1 - valakut with scapeshift and titan
1st game I wss able to strip a titan but he had Prismatic Omen and landed on next turn other titan it was close as i needed 1 more turn to combo with krak
2nd we reached a point where he plays scapeshift i had a bord with tons of artifacts and thopter plus welding jar, he taps for 7 mana leaving GRR, then I opted for witchbane in resp - i had the other option for sword plus 1 mana then able to be at 19 lifes I believe i had survived 1 more turn - the problem was that those mana floating was forA.drudge.
2 - storm - 1st game i felt like It is a bye for him but even he does not combo when he should and having played 2 remands when he finally combos off he remands my whir and loose. 2nd game i was not able to end the game but was a lot in my favour.
3 - URG agro with leaks tarmos and some criptic.
1st game i was able to discard cryoptic - thanks again seize! and landed a bridge but was not able to empty myhand so a couple of tarmos plus a kikijiki defeated me. it was sad. there was a point where i just didnt have in mind opp.lifes so i ould have just tendrils him. I am so used to play storm in legacy that just if do not have much in mind things like this if i dont play storm...
2nd game i was crushed again by drudge.
4th game i received a by and went home.
conclusions:
- not sure about liars pendulum but helped to reach the artifact count for opals
- t.seize overperformed i missed it a lot sometimes
- didnt play much serum visions.
- i miss more discard
- really having 4 thopters not is what i want and really used once krak which underperform as was too slow.
- i feel like 1 welder in base is ok, but i would need 3 more in side...
- i do not understand why the hell there is no a conseus about this deck - some plays pentads other not, some play serums other no, some plays even liars or jesters cap.. it would be really great if we allr each that consensous - i used to play legacy storm and by here there is a conseous on cards most of the times just 2/3 cards...
@DisgruntlingEgg I do not see the link you posted about your deck/side strategy please could you re-post
@racing: i do not see 2 jars in the base unless there is lot of jund in yur meta - why not in side? it is just too dead. would not you play just 4 in the 75? there are lot of artifact hate and durdge just shuts up us. Dont you think 4 opals is not the goal and at the same time maximicing the odds to use it - always i see an opal i am happy with it. Maybe I just have to start with any deck from you and not chane anything and see from here...
