I think Damnation absolutely should be played. Even though it nukes our creatures too, Goyf and Scooze are usually higher quality than your opponent's attempts to rebuild. Hard resets are especially good in the Midrange mirror.
Last Hope is great at cleaning up lingering souls, elementals, etc (things that you really don't want to use Push on, but can't ignore)
And her Ult is absolutely game winning against anything other than decks that ignore the board (combo, Burn, etc) so even if she does nothing but come down t3 against control and + on an empty board, she still needs to be answered. I've played 1 copy in the main of any BGx deck since she was printed
I agree about Ashiok and Nissa though. Nissa is great in Bant but I don't think she's what we want here.
I really like Eidolon of Rhetoric for Storm.
If you see Tron a lot I'd consider Gaddock Teeg in the Sideboard (and Stony Silence of course)
Valakut is reeeeally really tough without devoting sideboard space to it (flashfreeze and stuff)
There's some Esper Gifts talk in the 4C Gifts thread.
I run it some times but there's a bunch of different ways to build it and Esper isn't especially popular in the first place so it's hard to say if one version is strictly better than another. I think it's more of a tailor to your meta type of deal
I don't think it's where we want to be. Bant Company/Knightfall is focused more on individual card power like a Midrange deck.
Image does really well in tribal decks because those decks function mostly off of synergy (mainly lords)
Was previously opposed to running Bojuka Bog in the sideboard
But after getting manhandled by Dredge I think it's a necessary evil. Creeping Chill is just Too. Damn. Good.
Wins were over Esper Shadow, Grixis Delver, and Jund
I can do a loose writup of how the matches went if anyone cares.
Was my first time playing with Jace though and he's honestly great for us. Was especially powerful when paired with Nissa, Steward of Elements.
Against Jund I was able to Brainstorm a Reflector Mage from my hand to the top of my library, cast Nissa for X=4, then 0 in Reflector and hold up Path to deal with BBE + Goyf, protecting my walkers long enough for a win
Interesting stuff. I've been tempted to try playing without Retreat, but I think I'd still like to keep in the red splash for Kessig and Staticaster out of the board. Has anybody else tried something similar?
never! gavony is a wincon.. you can play one field in your 75 but not over gavony
Yeah I was asking a question about the list he posted, not making a suggestion. Personally I'd never leave home without Gavony
I play the traditional Wolf Run, Gavony, and 1 GQ for my colorless lands (I'm still playing Retreat)
I've just found I never usually want to spend the mana on Field, because ideally I'm holding up Queller or CoCo
With a couple of Blood Moons and some number of Terminates/Dreadbore/Anger of the Gods taken from the SB into MB, you've basically got a RB control deck with a Demigod beatdown plan. I've faced a deck like that at my local FNMs, and it stomps the living daylights out of many a greedy midrange decks. I don't see a reason why this deck would perform much worse.
My guess is Lashwrithe is too cute, just 1-2 Demigods in and of themselves should be sufficient to kill your opponent. I'd be in for a couple of Risk Factor in a deck like this, perhaps in the SB, as well as a couple of Sweltering Suns in MB if your meta has Humans/Spirits or any other swarm type decks.
There's actually a thread in here for that deck already
No tags since I'm on mobile but: Razaketh, Pitiless Plunderer, Torment of Hailfire, Bontu's Monument, I don't think Aetherflux Reservoir is new since the latest posts in here but it seems good, Krav the Unredeemed, just to name a few
Hate to necro such an old thread, but this deck has had a lot of new toys printed in the last year or so, and it could be pretty fun to start brewing again

She's good. I wouldn't play more than one though

It's been pretty inactive for a while
