Atleast Sony warns you well in advance their will be downtime =P.

I called the help line and they said it could anywhere under 24 hours to a full 48 hours before they get the content able to download. Leave it to WotC to find someone as unreliable as they are to launch their game. Frown

It's only 280 MB anyway! What content could be corrupted that they couldn't fix right away? PS3 is infy better.

Doubling Season + Elspeth. Makes all my permanents ( except Elspeth ) indestructible for the rest of the game right away.

I just wanted to let you know that this combo doesn't work. Elspeth adds counters as a cost, not an effect.

And the basic level of intelligence to work at wizards has further dropped. Hey i have an idea, lets do a new theme deck... actually i honestly spent 5 minutes trying to make up a joke that's a worse example of this unbalance but i couldn't come up with anything to do it justice. that's how dumb this is. unless black has damnation and white DOESNT have wrath, then this is just dumb. go ahead and buy em up white fans, enjoy the spring of white.......

I agree...don't they have to put something in there that can potentially kill Akroma? I know Dread can...but who's the other guy that destroys all non-black non-artifact creatures when he comes into play?

There was a comedy show? Patrick Chapin is so unbelievably hilarious with all of his wacky deck ideas, dress wearing, and clever quips that I bet he just killed it.

There was mulitple comedy shows (although the one I was talking about was the good one), a club, casino, they had bingo multiple times...dinner was amazing you could order what you wanted in what ever quantity you wanted. Although I heard that they had to cut Chapin off after he 5-0'd the lobster...

I didn't think anything could ever become better then Gen Con. I mean, 4 days of straight magic, whenever I want...what could be better then that? Try 5 days of gaming whenever you're not out in the Mexican sun? It was quite the trip and I really hope more people go next year. Lindsay and Steve have started what I hope becomes a long tradition.

    I hope that's some sort of padding:D

Some dresses are formed that way, for girls with Chapin's problem...er well, you know what I mean. Rolleyes

The weird thing about Chapin in the dress was the fact that he wore it, took it off for Karaoke and then put it back on for the comedy show, only to take it off again when we went to Stripes! He must've liked the attention!

It was a blast and I hope a lot of this year's group goes again next year. I know Neil and I are.

Here's my top 10 for Conflux in no particular order or rarity:

Nyxathid + Raven's Crime seems pretty good
    Banefire > Demonfire
Noble Hierarch just needs the right home
Apocalypse Hydra might have to replace seige-gang commander if he's not in 11th.
Knight of the Reliquary + Life from the Loam seems pretty donkey.
Maelstrom Archangel could be a one or two of in Cruel.dec
Scattershot Archer will put faeries and spectral procession in its place. Little kid G/W will make an awesome comeback.
Celestial Purge will be a tournament staple
Path to Exile could see play in 5cc
Nicol Bolas just because he's old-school and if you open him you can sell him for way more than he's worth.

Did anyone else have a foil cryptic command coming to them and opened up their rewards and have no foil? Was there an announcement that I missed? Three friends of mine both got their rewards with NO foil. Even though the website says we had a foil coming. I also have a friend down in Texas who says he got his. WTF? Any ideas?

I normally wouldn't care but its Cryptic Command for goodness sake.

    1)Target opponent sacrifices a creature,
    2) discards three cards,
    3) then loses 5 life.
    4) You return a creature card from your graveyard to your hand,
    5) draw three cards,
    6) then gain 5 life.

I personally have tested this particular Ultimatum only. It can only fit in QnT or a deck that's designed around it IMO. Yesterday for instance, I was testing it vs another QnT deck that was playing Battlegrace Angel as a win condition. It was back breaking.

Even though I baited his counterspells, he countered it and then he tapped out to play Battlegrace Angel, then I just played Nucklavee and got back Bant charm and Cruel Ultimatum. He had to play a creature inconviently so that the Angel wouldn't get the axe, it just so happened to be Shriekmaw. He chose to target the Nucklavee so it was awesome that I just played Cruel and got the Nucklavee back again, replayed Nucklavee and got Ultimatum back again. Needless to say, he just scooped after that. Granted this situation is rare, its still a good point to the playability it has in a deck like QnT.

The mana wasn't a problem at all. When you're playing 23-26 land getting to 7 isn't that big of a deal. It being a UUBBBRR costed spell had no bearing on my ability to play it in ANY of my matches. The only reason I couldn't play it was because I didn't have enough land. Which isn't really saying much because people will get caught up on mana despite what deck or what cards they're playing...except maybe Kithkin.

I also highly recommend Distress for the MD, alongside Thoughtseize. Cherrypicking their best card is a great thing.

Also, Distress can nab those stupid Chameleon Colossi I've been seeing. Dying to a 16/16 effectively unblockable is not very fun. ;p

    Thoughtseize grabs Chameleon Colossus too.

But yea running distress in the board is alright, I wouldn't run 4 MD. Ultimately it depends on your meta.

i just dont understand how you have trouble with aggro. bitterblossom for chumpers, tendrils to kill stuff and gain life and damnation for massive CA. aggro isnt too hard with this deck.

Damnation isn't that hard to play around, especially aggro decks like Kithkin which can just hold onto a Cloudgoat Ranger or a Spectral Procession. Merfolk is only beatable with damnation, but again, its easy enough to play around. G/W is also a difficult match up...as anything with Persist is just a pain to deal with.

Once they see it coming...and any competent player will know mbc is playing 4 damnations main.

About the arguement on Corrupt vs Consume Spirit.

Corrupt in every way is better then Consume. Remember for some posters earlier B must be spent for X.

The 2 situations where Consume is better,

    1. Earlier then t5 (which is kinda minimal.

    2. If you are playing something like Magus of the Coffers, Cabal Coffers or Doubling Cube where you can add horids of B mana to your pool not just what your lands tap for..

Like I had said earlier... I liked it for the early game because of my poor match ups with various aggro decks. Its also a lot easier to BtQ for...

I just made my version of the deck on wednesday but I'll try to remember the list.

Haven't really thought of a board yet. I think its going to have Sudden Spoiling ,Sudden Death, the 4th Bitterblossom...like I said I'm not quite sure.

Except when you go back down to 6 swamps, 6 damage is a whole lot better than 4.

Besides that, doing 10 points of damage AND having 4 mana left to Damnation or drop Korlash is really where the difference between Corrupt and Consume Spirit comes out. It isn't so much the damage difference, but the efficiency in the use of the mana.

And in the early game, Tendrils of Corruption is better than Consume Spirit for trying to live into the long game.

I guess it really depends on your meta. I'm not really worried about the late game, I've always won easily with either Hammerlash or Oona, or just BtQ for whatever I needed. I'm more worried about my early game. There are dumb aggro decks everywhere!

The only advantage Consume Spirit has over Corrupt is that it can be cast for less than 6 mana if needed.

When you get into the late game and have 10 swamps out, you start to realize why Corrupt is better.

I don't see much of a difference between 8 points of damage or 10 points of damage? By turn 10 you should be on the winning end anyway. You own the late game. All I care about is living long enough to see the late game and Consume Spirit does that way better then corrupt.
