So... no story for M20? Not even one on young Chandra? Slant

By the way, I thought Teyo was supposed to be the new face of the game. He was created explicitly for the novel to act like an introduction to readers unfamiliar with Magic, he is relatively young and a white PW, a good substitute for Gideon... But apparently they are trying again what they did in 2014... Wasn't Chandra the face of that core set too?

I was searching the post on Dominaria geography, and the post with the old list of sources (comics, webstories and such), but I cannot find them anymore. Have they been lost to the change of server? Have we now lost that content forevere? I know some of it was already outdated, but it is incredible how quick the Magic lore get swallowed by time...

I know you just adore pointing out retcons and such but help if you know what they have kept or not Wink

Ah ah! Yes, I was just exagerating. There are worse offendere in the "ignore characters' past" category.

So uh... Chandra is officially the energetic, endearing, lovable face of the product now? Are we all supposed to pretend that one time when she killed innocent people with no provocation (TWICE!) never happened?

Yup, but I don't know what are you talking about... she is ever been a lovely person, don't let anyone tell you different! u.u

Am I reading too much into this?

    Yes.
It was already stated by Wizards that it was simply oil: they tried to make a joke about dinosaur fossils becoming oil, but they seem to have failed.

Pick any of the other old walkers and its more or less the same. This is them when they sparked, this is them 40 years after they sparked when they have mastered their craft; this is them now. Can you spot the difference? No? Well, that's to be expected they haven't actually changed very much. You know being an old walker they are essentially immortal and watching an immortal grow up through still images is confusing at best.

Some old walkers got character development too: Tevesh Szat was borna as Tev Loneglade, a sort of hermit, and only after his sister's death he became the Doom of Fools.
Also, Taysirt went from being a hero to a crazied villian and was reborn as a hero once again.
Even Freyalise had changes in her aspect, from her strange leaf-wings to her eye-patch.

The flavor text for Lazotep Behemoth is a perfect example of what I mean. A monster like that should be absolutely terrifying, it's an enormous undead zombie beast, it's definitely not something that a normal soldier should be taking lightly.

Yup, even a charging normal hyppo would be enough to terrorize a normal soldier, an undead beast from an other world should be even more frightening. I know that on Ravnica there are wurms, giants and ogres, but the existence of these creatures shouldn't be enough to make light of something that could nevertheless kill you...

So glad we got the old appearance of the Slivers (seriously, what were they thinking when they created those Predator-esque things?).

Unfortunately, they are now a normal tribe (i.e. affecting only the Slivers you control), since probably MaRo thinks people got stupider from Future Sight and can't play a Sliver mirror game.

Now that Mtg Salvation is closing, where will all your Vorhtos go?
I'll admit that Mtg Salvation was the only mtg community I lurked everyday, so now I'm a bit lost and I don't know of other forums or community interested not only in Mtg cards, but in lore too...

Sooo, is the guy on Umezawa's Charm Toshiro or Tetsuo? Judging by the Jitte I would say Toshiro, but I don't remember if the weapon was handed down to Tetsuo.

I really don't know what they wanted to do with Vivien... When she was introduced, with her vendetta against Bolas, she seemed to would have been a key character in bringing down the dragon. We even got a story for her, but not her origin story, which was basically only in her bio. As others have already said, why showing her on Ixalan? Is she is the only survivor of Skalla, show us Skalla, tell us what happened to it...
This would have probably matter less if her role in WAR would have been major, but she did nothing against Bolas, which we were told was her nemesis.. Why create this character, then? You don't show her origin, and you don't close her storyline...

I'm not even sure she was supposed to be a "good" girl, an antihero, or simply a neutral character. If her portrayal in Unbowed was supposed to show her like an hero, it failed miserably. So, once again... why we had Vivien? She is a little more than another Kasmina.

It is also not impossible that we might see serra in a standard set in the future as well, Kamigawa and coldsnap are good exemples that not every standard set needs to be in chronological order, but due to the storyline from today (following the gatewatch) it lowers the possibility of this happening.

Judging from the Chronicles of Bolas, I believe they could use the Core set for exploring past events.
In any case, before the real protagonists of the story were the planes themselves (not during the Weatherlight saga, obviously). That permitted to be able to "time-jump" without problems, like from the Invasion to Onslaught, to Kamigawa to Time Spiral. Now, with the planeswalker-centric story (and they no-more-eternal lifespan) the possibility of this were reduced drastically.

we are getting a new walker besides Serra who might be a player in the future story
Hardly. Serra is dead and has been from long before the invasion of Phyrexians on Dominaria.
I believe he is referring to the other walker besides Serra.
