I don't know about the land construction -- Zhalfirin Void is very hard to run in a deck with so many symbols in the CMC.
I think you should swap those Slagstorm in the sideboard to Anger of the Gods instead
What do you think of Goblin Cratermaker? I have moved away from it - once believed to be a straight up superior card to abrade, I now have my doubts.
Similar observations... I'm thinking on going own on only two Zhalfirin Voids or just change them completely to Mountains. In some moment during the tournament I wanted the Slagstorms to be Angers and was disappointed with the Cratermakers. They could not kill a couple 2/3 Goyfs game 1 that cost me a match and the only time I had the option to use one to kill a Karn, the opponent played a Wurmcoil that was more relevant, so Abrade would have been a better card to have in each case.
I ended the tournament 3-3 ...
I defeated Hardened Scales on round 1, Lantern on round 5 and 8-Rack on round 6 (against lantern I had the fastest concede ever with a turn 1 Chalice). Outpost Siege on Dragon won me one of the games against Hardened Scales in which the opponent blocked most of my attackers and sac'ed all but one of his creatures, taking 2 damage (he was at 3) and completely forgot that the creature he was blocking would die and Siege killed him.
I lost to Jund (I had a penalty for giving my decklist late, so I started my second round with 1 game loss... two Goyfs that I could not get rid of made it a short round), Tron, in which I kept a 1 lander and put a Blood Moon on T1, but didn't find a second land in more than 6 turns, combined with multiple O-Stones and an Ulamog that set me back to 1 land, G2 I didn't find a Blood Moon, so Tron was active and I tried my best, with no success... My round 4 was against U-Tron, which normally don't care about our lock pieces... Mindslaver killed me twice.
I'm planning to replace Cratermeker with a couple Abrades, probably a 4th Warboss and maybe one Slagstorm MB and change all Slagstorms on the SB into Angers. Not sure about other changes, except replacing the Voids... the scry is useful sometimes, but too many colorless sources are frequently painful.
I am going to try a variant of Goblin Gun tomorrow at the tournament that CardKingdom organized as part of their Chalice event (https://thechalice.causevox.com)
I made some changes, like keeping a couple Chandras and added a few copies of Outpost Siege, ideally Purphoros should do damage when our tokens come into play, then there's damage when they attack, even when they're blocked ... also, choosing Khans when card advantage is needed is a good option.
I've played only once against Abzan... but I have to say I was really lucky... He was mana screwed game 1 and luckily for me didn't see any Lingering Souls or LotV during the second game, so it felt very favorable for GDS... I am pretty sure that any of those threats would have made my life a lot more difficult.
Hey guys! What's the Humans matchup like? Any tips or tricks? Recently started playing this deck and I find it to be a difficult matchup. Thank you in advance!
Haven't played against Humans... it seems that it's not become popular at my LGS yet.
Isn't this an opportunity for Young Pyromancer to be back in our 75? I mean, Humans grow wide and big at the same time... spawning blockers and then trying to go through with a big creature + TBR could be a good strategy.
I have had some problems with Ponza in my LGS, so that's why I'm already thinking on YP (I need blockers for Chameleon Colossus). Not sure if it helps against Humans.
I have been on opt and visions on and off, visions just feels so much better when it comes to the 18 land count. If you're going to opt I suggest going to a 19 land count. We need to hit the land drops
I decided to go to 19 lands because I was more frequently mana screwed than flooded. I guess it's because I was on the 4 opt/2 serum visions plan.
I'm happy that I am doing the right combination now.
BTW... any good suggestions in terms of Burn MUs? My LGS seems to have a lot of Burn in the current meta (I've seen 4 burn players out of 20-something people one night).
I have been going with the 2x Collective Brutality and completing the set of Stubborn Denials ... are EE/Tendrils good (in case I need to get rid of multiple 1 drop creatures) or should I just rely on hitting our 1-1 removal spells?
I used to play 1 copy of Murderous Cut when I played 8-Rack, just to kill Eidolon of the Great Revel, but with the amount of Delve creatures we play I don't see it as an option here.
The first week that I played it, I ended 1-3 (first match against some RG fringe deck, which I won, but then I had to play the mirror and 2 matches against Burn).
The second week I lost against Gx Tron, won a match against Burn, but then lost another match against Burn and had a draw in turns against MU Tron, ending 1-2-1
So, I am making some changes. I am taking out the Serum Visions and going just with 4 Opts, and replacing them with one extra land (Watery Grave) and a second TBR. I also changed the 2 copies of Tasigur, Golden Fang to Gurmag Angler to go with a full set. Even if they cost 1 more mana, I prefer a 5/5 over a 4/5... they are vulnerable to the same removal spells, but Angler is a slightly faster clock (1 turn faster), two more points of damage combined with TBR and I never found enough mana to use Tasigur's ability.
I agree... If I was willing to pay 5UU sorcery speed for a creature, I would go for something like the Sphinx of the Final Word, for instance... at least I know it would not be countered and it's a flying 5/5, which is a much better body than a 4/4 zombie.

Any comments are welcome... and I'll try to write some notes to report after the event.

Thanks again,
Daniel.
I started playing GDS just a couple weeks ago, and went with a very standard list, with 18 lands, a split of 4 Opts/2 Serum Visions and a split of 3 Fatal Push/1 Lightning Bolt (plus 1 Terminate and 1 Dismember)
I was also playing 1 Temur Battle Rage main.
The first week that I played it, I ended 1-3 (first match against some RG fringe deck, which I won, but then I had to play the mirror and 2 matches against Burn).

I also changed Kozilek's Return in the SB to Flaying Tendrils, just for the exile clause.
Comments, suggestions? I definitely need more practice... I really like the deck, but it's still a little difficult to pilot.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel.
