  • posted a message on Anarchism cannot coexist with a free market.
A pure anarchistic society would also be be a pure free market society. Ludwig van Mises, Murray Rothbard, Lew Rockwell and Thomas Woods have all made this point many times.

There would be no government restrictions to trade.
There would still be private property and methods of maintaining it other than the appeal to state authority. Private security\police exist even in our society to protect goods. There are also alternative means of dispute resolution other than violence, such as shunning and voluntary family or clan systems. Living in a smaller anarchistic society would require interdependance and trade with your neighbors. Theft would not be looked upon kindly by the community. Also, back to violence, understanding that everyone could fully defend their own property with armed violence would be a deterent.

Thinking that currency requires a government is kind of naive. Any scarce resource or the rights to use that resource will do. Nongovernmental currency systems that currently exist are gold, cell phone minutes, frequent flyer miles, and bit coin.

for me that is an argument which hints strongly for thoughtseize.

    ill explain why:
SCG wont drop a card by 15$, which would get even more expensive now(since others got reprinted in MM, while thoughtseize didnt get more copys). but they lower the price by 15$ now, which is for me a sign, that they KNOW that it will get reprinted and want to get rid of as many as possible before people know that its in the coreset and the price drops dramaticaly.

i know that still is no proof, but i kinda think its a big sign.
because without a comming reprint, Thoughtseize would get even more expensive since the demand rises, even if its only a little while the supply is the same.
so its kinda weird that they lower their prices now.

What if they are dropping the price because they realize that other sites often mirror their prices? They are currently out of stock. This allows them to keep their buy price low and to potentially buy out their competitors.
On a personal note, I own 4 thoughtseize that I have had since shortly after their release. I hope they are reprinted at rare so that I can play them in standard again.

    They ignored my complaint.
I pressed the card back into shape with some books and though the warp is noticable holding it sideways, in a sleeve it is playable. My friend seemed happy to get it, so it wasn't that big a deal in the end. Still I will neverr order from them again and would recommend that anyone who cares about the condition of the cards they buy not to as well.

I just received a purchase from mtgfanatic. It was a $40 card and they didn't put it in a toploader. They just stuck three lands on each side, wrapped it in bubble wrap and sent it in a padded envelope. The post office bent it and now my friends present is seriously warped.

  • posted a message on Question about Grand Prix Trials
Well I kept digging and according to the judge handbook, http://www.wizards.com/dci/downloads/JUDGEHNDBK_Nov_06.pdf Trials are to be run at REL 2 which requires a Level 1 DCI Certified Judge. I guess I will go anyway so I have one more reason to hate the place when I show up at the GP and can't get my byes.

Is a Grand Prix Trial required to have a level 1 judge, and if it does, can anyone post a link to that information?

I am asking because a shady shop near me is having a GPT tomorrow, but the owner, who is not a judge, says that he is judging it himself. I don't want to go if the results aren't actually going to get me three byes.

Actually, it is very true. A lot of reasons charges are dropped in a criminal case is because the DA won't go to court due to a lack of evidance. The diffrence of the evidence is that in criminal, the state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendent is guilty, while in civil, I don't remember the exact legal terms, but basically: "more likely than not" the defendent is guilty. Even if Wizards won the civil suit, they would need a lot more work to get it passed at criminal level, and I am guessing that it would be more trouble that its worth.

You are pretty close. The term I remember from my business law classes is "the preponderance of the evidence." In other words there has to be clear and convincing evidence of the defendant committing the tort, but it is much looser than the criminal standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt." So you can have situations where someone is found not guilty in a criminal court and then has to pay damages for the same incident in a civil court, like OJ Simpson.

I wonder if this was in northeastern Alabama. I tried to go to a magic game day listed on the wizards site on Halloween of last year. The store just wasn't at the listed address and none of the places in the area had ever heard of it. The Tournament Organizer also never responded to any of my emails to him. It really made me angry and wasted most of my day.

Well if I screw him out of sales maybe that will make up for some of the ones he got through his overinflated feedback.

Edit: In his letter begging me to change my feedback to neutral he said he would stop asking for early feedback. Now my neutral is buried on page 2. This guy is a liar and a scammer. I suggest anyone involved in this file with Paypal now and leave negative feedback.

Well I just got a message from the seller begging me to take back the negative feedback. Since I did get my money back and it didn't effect me I changed it to a more appropriate neutral feedback.

I too had my money refunded. Smile

Sweet. I was afraid the guys who left feedback would be screwed and this guy would walk away with everyone's money. Sorry if I said some harsh things about you guys at the beginning of the thread, I was angry and sometimes I can't see things from others point of view.

The only sad thing is that the price of Jace everywhere else went up $5 in the time it took to get my money back. I notice zafarious hasn't listed any in a few days. I wonder if he was selling so many that he was suppressing the price for legitimate dealers.

Action!! Paypay is showing a reversal of the charge to my credit card. As I consider the transaction completed I left negative feedback. Hopefully, no one else will fall for this.

It isn't impossible to sell that many. I am worried about his ability to pay for the 150+ boxes he will need to satisfy his chase mythic ebay preorders though. I went ahead and filed on Paypal as well. Though, I can't quite leave him negative feedback on Ebay yet. If it didn't ask if I had allowed reasonable time for delivery I would.

Assuming that he is honest and has "good intentions" this guy has sold over 900 items so far. He is looking at a major personal loss and his initial email is essentially saying that he doesn't have the money to pay his supplier unless he collects upfront. He is in way over his head. At a rough estimate, depending on where he is getting his boxes he will need to shell out $12,000-$15,000 just to have good odds of popping what he has sold so far. Someone preselling a playset or two is nothing, this guy has presold 68 jaces so far on ebay and there is no telling how many of them that are listed on his just established prostore account at $17.99 a piece. Every playset that he sales actually makes his situation worse, unless he is a scammer.
