With all the graveyard hate right now (Leyline of the void), how do you feel about relying a bit less on the graveyard ?
Curious what you guys think about this version, 3 rabblemaster main (good vs KCI/TRON) , no moon but 3 alpine moon in the side ! This version seems better vs KCI and TRON , two top deck in this meta.

For some reason I can't load the picture, but Mardu Pyro got 22nd at the GP! I didn't see it listed for Day 2, so I didn't even realize someone made it. Interesting notes: 3 Moons main (!!!???), 0 LOTv in the 75, 1 Hazoret side (so 12 threats only in the main).

1st time I see a version with 3 Blood Moon main. Will try this version of the deck tonight a my local tournament. Wondering if, with only 2 molten rain, we need to bring Surgical vs Tron ?

Also , for the Blood Moon debate, I feel that if you are not playing Blood Moon you need to play Lili .

Brennan Decandio doing well at SCG Dallas with the 4c colour version splashing for Traverse and BBE package.

I like the deck, but the match up vs Burn and Tron seems worse. Matchup vs Jund and Jeskai seems to improve.

    @FlyingDelver

Why 2 Spellbomb / 1 Surgical split? No more Hazoret main? Why 2 Wear // Tear? I'm in a similar state with the graveyard hate, I'm just not sure what number of those is correct, but I really like spellbomb vs. Jund and surgical vs. other decks. Hopefully going to an IQ on Sunday, so I can represent, but we'll see if that happens.

Why do you ''really like'' Spellbomb vs Jund ?

Yeah I think Lilis are great vs Jund and Control variants, so definitely going to play those.

No not liking Molten, are bad topdecks and not impactful enough for Jund/Control. Think Fulminatzor is better to grind with.

Only aspect would be to hit basics, or to help with Reveler. Not sure that warrants the card more than Fulminator for me.

Since you're cutting Blood Moon, I feel that Fulminator Mage is better (Moon + Molten a basic can be brutal).
I'm willing to give the Fulminators a go, with 3 to 4 Manamorphose (never tried both card in the deck).

FlyingDelver : Do you have problem casting Bedlam vs Jeskai ? I feel that with that decklist you side in a lot of non sorcery/instant cards... At the same time, the games are often really long so no rush to cast them I guess.

Thanks for the tips guy. I never really tested the card actually. Was for a long time on the Leylines plan , which pretty much everybody abandoned (liked them vs Storm and Dredge but those deck disappeared in my meta).

Hey Guys, any tips on when to bring Surgical Extraction ? I didn't test the card at all and I'm surprise that Gerry T doesn't bring it vs Jeskai (pre-Jace unban).

Just because Gerry is not running Moon does not necessarily mean that it's bad - other people who I consider to be very good with this deck are still running Blood Moon, such a Galan Falakfarsa, and I feel it has enough utility in certain matchups to be worth running at least as a one-of. This deck is very good at card selection - an unnecessary Moon can be put into the bin without much of a problem.

Exactly. Also, Gerry has been posting a lot of deck list for this deck recently, some with, some without Blood Moon.

Just went 4-0 in competitive live event, Blood Moon was again a all star (vs Jund and Jeskai)

But I have to say, I kinda like that last list from Gerry. Never tried Hazoret , I've been on the Rabblemaster plan for a long time with mixed result

Hey all, a bit new to the site but I've been playing Mardu Pyro for about 3 months. Some thought on deck + about comments on last page :

1- I like the 5 cards split on Terminate/Dreadbore/Fatal Push . This is constantly changing for me (meta dependent). Since Tron and Jace are a bit popular at my local shop, I'm on a 2xterminate, 2xdreadbore, 1push (but 2 side).

2- I prefer having 2 Blood Moon main vs 1. It just gives you wins vs a lot of deck, even times when Blood Moon isn't suppose to be good (vs Burn, Affinity).

I never tried Manamorphose and I see some people who are playing 4 . This deck is hard to trim, feel that all card have a good purpose. At the same time, it looks like you are almost always happy to have Manamorphose in your hand or on a topdeck. Looking foward for some playtesting with the card + reading reports on this site!

Here is a super quick report of my last Modern tournament (3-1). I have a pretty stock list, will post it later.

    Match 1 (vs Burn) 1-2
Game 1 : I manage pretty much all creature he plays, I'm at 3 for 2 turns, he never top deck the burn spell, I win.
Game 2 : Goblin Guide again on T1, hits me 2 times, and he get there with burn spells.
Game 3 : Top deck war again, I needed to dodge a burn spells on top deck mode for 2 turns, oops, GG
Thought - I would like 4 Collective Brutality in the 75(only play 3). The card is just sick for this match-up and is needed. Guess this match up is about 40-60 but Brutality is the hope Smile

Match 2 (vs new Burn Player (with the real deck anyway)) 2-0
Game 1 : Opponent is mana screw for 2 turns, gives me enough times (and thanks brutality!)
Game 2 : Decided to keep 1 blood moon in the deck. I play it, Opponent is stuck with boros charm+helix in hands when needed a last burn spell.

Match 3 (vs GW Company Todd Stevens list)
Game 1 : 3 Voices is too much value, can't comeback.
Game 2 : I decided to keep 1 Blood Moon to stop the late game value he can get. I destroy the manadork, play BMoon on Turn 3, he never game white mana. Pyromancer+spells get me the win. He said he was surprise to see Blood Moon and didn't fetch anticipating it.
Game 3 : I 1 for 1 everything and a well timed Kolaghan's Command on a dork+EExplosives gives me the game (he was a bit mana screw.

    Match 4 (vs Esper Control w/ 4 Jaces) 2-0
Game 1 : He taps out to play Jaces. He +2 to look at my top of library. ''WOW'' he says, Dreadbore ! Oops, the other one is in my hands ! I also land 1 turn later Blood Moon, and kill him with Tokens
Game 2 : Blood Moon gives him trouble again, he also land flood. GG. I guess i'ts risky to play 3 colors with Field of Ruins !
Thought - More than happy to play 2 dreadbore since our deck can't put lot of pressure on Jace.

    Enough for today !
