The dude's clearly a scumbag but seeing cards has at least made me interested in the set.

Wow that cute devil almost makes up for all the ugly art in the set alone.

Question about how this would work: An equipped planeswalker no longer counts as a planeswalker, so would they lose loyalty counters when taking damage? Or would those loyalty counters simply act as de facto +1/+1 counters on an otherwise 0/0 creature (along with every other counter)?

No longer being a planeswalker means the damage removing loyalty doesn't apply.

Oooh a nice looking creature art in the sea of disappointment.

I like how the three arts for the Elspeth card are great, but this one looks like someone in drag trying to look like Elspeth lol.

The amount of animal people in this set is super disappointing to me. And using an awesome title like "Mayhem Diva" on one of them especially :/
A lot of the cards seem fun, but the cheesy references that people definitely love, while expected, are a bit much.
I know I'll want a good number of cards from the set to play with but thematically this ones not for me.

I'm confused - isn't this just the buy-a-box reward for picking up a Collector's Box? Presumably no one is buying that box for the bonus - they want the premium flavor of cards in the box, or to re-sell it.

Spend $200+ to get a promo token......

Country specific or not that is awful.

Comments like this for example - you pay $200 for the box, that's why you are there. This is just icing, I guess. It's not for me, but I don't understand the ire. Be angry at Collection Booster boxes instead?

Interesting... and I don't think someone has mentioned it.

A RETURN OF THE CEPHALIDS!!!! Return of the Cthulu-esque Octo-people...

    Now I'm hungry for calamari...

well some of you were hype for their return but I got some bad news

this is what Cephalids look like on new capenna

they got the same fate the slivers got in the core set.

I thought the new slivers looked way better. These I'm pretty indifferent about. The top one looks kinda like a merfolk vedalkin mix which is fine, but the bottom one looks more like a wet cat person and I really don't like animal people lol. I guess the originals were at least non-human enough to not show up on my "made for furries" radar. These ones it seems like it'll vary art to art for my taste.

There is literally no reason this couldn't be done in paper.

It's more-so that they would have to do it differently if so. Conjure doesn't care whether or not you own the cards or have them on hand. Obviously with forests there's no reason anyone shouldn't be able to get them, but the ability itself is functionally different than pulling from your sideboard or even out of the game in general.

Well based on the response Maro gave about the current ones all being on Innistrad so it would make more sense for the friends forever mechanic, these ones won't necessarily have to all be on the same plane.

For licensing, its reasonable to assume that the in-universe cards won't have the same or any "flavor words" since wotc can't print things like Shoryuken on their own cards.

I'd almost expect the SF cards to be cast as fighters in Valor's Reach on Kylem (from Battlebond), as the pit fighter aesthetic is an obvious match (like how Innistrad fit with the horror themes of Stranger Things). I'm also curious where the Walking Dead cards will land, because Innistrad would be an obvious fit there too, but would they reuse the setting for another batch of SL cards?

I didn't consider the battlebond plane! That could probably work out well without even stretching stuff for flavor

So the Stranger things cards are being reprinted as normal Magic cards....... but in a Secret Lair, not a set? Ok then

Nah, they're on the list and if I recall correctly they show up more frequently than other list cards.

So looking at some of the SF cards, it seems like it would flavorfully be weird to transition some of them to "MTG versions" since they would have to keep their creature types. I have a few thoughts on how they could justify the flavor of some of them.

The mtg version of Dhalsim, Pliable Pacifist could just end up being a monk who retreated to live among spiders in the forest for some reason since he helps reach creatures.

    E. Honda, Sumo Champion is super weird to think of, but if they wanted to make him a Theros human who trained under a hecatoncheires somehow I guess that could be some way to forcefully make it work. Or He could represent some phalanx leader though they are usually soldiers and not warriors.

Blanka is another awkward one as it is a human beast warrior. Could be some gruul character that gained beastlike features though some sort of magic (or forcefully through a simic experiment) but they could also probably make it some sort of Innistrad thing.

The other ones seem easy enough to transition though some are spell-slinging soldiers which doesn't seem to happen so much.

They could even use unused planes as a basis for some of them. Any other thoughts on how they might go about the ones that are typed weirdly with their abilities (or in general)?

I'm thinking one of the factions will get exalted to play well with the Samurai in NEO.
