I wonder if they're reworking Amass. On Blogatog people have asked before about variants of it for non-zombie army creatures and Maro has said it'd probably be doable. Possibly a long shot, but Phyrexians and non-Phyrexians amassing armies is straight up what's happening.
The three cards shown alongside the announcement don't personally excite me. Commander is my preferred format, but the first time around my playgroup immediately decided not to run Jeweled Lotus as soon as it was previewed. (Honestly Sol Ring is too swingy for my taste but it's put in basically every pre-con even lol so we've just kinda accepted that one.) The dragon doesn't do anything for me since I already had that pre-con. I'm sure the set itself will have more interesting stuff that fits my tastes, but this is one of the first times I haven't been excited by an announcement teaser.
Huh, reverse Universes Beyond. Hasn't been as many of those recently.
I had considered the possibility with the friends I play with a few weeks ago because Smite has already crossed over with Transformers which is also under Hasbro as we all know the way they're throwing it all over and MTG feels far more natural.
There have been a few random crossovers in smite across the board of themes though lol

10 Magic: The Gathering characters are coming to Smite as skins (In addition to some other cosmetics like mana symbol jump stamp) with 5 of them coming this month.
Currently announced for this month:
Jace as Yu Huang
Liliana as Nu Wa
Chandra as Pele
Karn as Atlas
Atraxa as Thanatos
Nicol bolas is featured in the trailer for the crossover, and while not confirmed it is speculated to be Tiamat as she had been datamined to be getting a skin in the following update.
Took a little detective work but they failed to mention which plane they did this time.
this might be plan old domnaria. The abomination art the elves might have tattoos that resemble the ones from Llanowar have. And second Maarika could be in the cabal arena
and From new capenna we know these will swarm like locust and the good set booster cards appeared more. Let see if we get some good ones like last time.
They don't all need to be from the same plane. They specifically made the ones with friends forever from the same plane for the reason that flavor wise they knew each other. These ones technically don't have to be.
They don't have to be, no, but there's no reason to believe they aren't all from Dominaria - it's been a major focus of late, all the artwork feels like it fits and the Canal's out fights are a perfect excuse to bring these Fighters together. The only other planes that seem appropriate for Street Fighters would be Ravnica, Kaladesh, Kaldheim and Kamigawa and none of the arts or names feel like they belong to any of those. So, no - they don't have to be in Dominaria but I'll choose to believe they are.
I'm not saying they couldn't be or to not believe that they are, but any in universe versions of universe beyond cards don't have to automatically be assumed to be from the same plane.

They get the poison counters in addition to getting damage, not exclusively a poison counter rate as infect would give in lieu of damage. I guess the number marker is the # of poison counters that player gets whenever the creature deals combat damage?
I wonder if cards like Fynn will be errata'd to say "creatures you control with deathtouch have Toxic 2" if this is the templating of the Toxic mechanic?
If people want to buy overpriced proxies, they have the right to, but what a dumb product in general lol. Even the most cash -grabby products have had at least some redeeming features that I could see even if I couldn't justify buying some for myself.That said, I can't jump through hoops to find any good quality out of "hey, pay an insane amount of money for fake cards at the chance of opening some fake cards that you probably won't get the chance to open a real version of so this can be a replacement for real excitement!"

Almost definitely because dice rolling is already a theme of the set and unsets in general, and there has been a good amount of recent support for dice rolling and will probably be more in this one.
The mindflayers implant their tadpoles in living beings to take over and warp the body while eating the brain. It can cause all sorts of weird stuff. Won’t be surprised if they print that messed up roper (living stalagmite with paralyzing tentacles) that got the tadpole treatment. Maybe even an Alhoon (a mindflayer Lich who refuses to give up their brain to the elder brain at death).
Wouldn't it be a Brainless Dragon or a Brainstolen Dragon, instead of Brainstealer then?

Obviously its still pretty different, but they also decide rarity based on the environment the card is meant for. Some sets' rare cards are another set's uncommon cards and the like.
