Not a bad commander card. It is situationally more useful than a normal Wrath. It can be a good bargaining/bribing tool.
I was playing in an Oathbreaker game recently that went really long. I had Mirari's Wake and Doubling Season out, then used Finale of Glory to summon 30 Angels but... I had to pass the turn as I did not have a haste enabler. If someone cast this card against me, they would have milled me out.
This card has EDH written all over it. There are so many ways to minimize the downside of this card and maximize the profit.
Give the pick of the liter to the person furthest behind. They are not a threat and you have made an ally by showing them kindness.
Imagine a game where I am going. Next up is Jeff, then Larry. Larry is winning the game. I play this card and let Jeff get the pick of the liter. Now I get 5 cards and Jeff gets the best card. Hopefully together we can tag team Larry down to a manageable level.
Imagine a game where you and Rachel are in clearly winning. Play this card and let Rachel get the pick of the liter. Then, as she goes to cast it, Counterspell her!
You think they’d reprint the Titan cycle as mythics here? Eh idk if I want to see the titans on this visit with everything going on. But with sexy boy and the 5 mono color gods, that’s 9 mythics with 6 to go. They could easily do 5 titans as well. Not that I would want that. I’d prefer to get some cool multicolor cards for mythics like another Arixmethes or a legendary hydra and other on theme cards over that. We’ll see
you guys think each color will get a rare and an uncommon saga?
Hot take: The Titans will be the villains the next time we come to Theros.
also did anyone else notice how many of the spoilers are from official WotC sources? 20+ entries on the 'where to find them' page, and there's a good chance that translates to well over 50 cards. That feels really annoying, you know they could have found that many content creators who deserve a boost. Spoiler season is supposed to get the entire community involved, not just 'check various officials Wizards social media accounts for what could easily be the majority of the set. even the dump on the last day, somebody with like 200 followers but the enthusiasm to do it would probably be really excited to even get one of those commons. idk, it just bugs me
The numbers are a bit skewed because WotC showcased the ten Theme-Booster-exclusive-rares all at once.
I'm sure you don't, but your feelings of entitlement to additional creative pieces of your favorite setting aren't the same as the priorities of a large business. To them, the reasonable action is to ensure that all components of their operation are aligned with the goal of selling more product. They appear to have deemed their creative department to be a potential risk to longterm profits and they are pausing to address it. That *is* reasonable because their approach isn't "share creative pursuits to a niche demographic of fans", it's "make money" and the lore you feel they're witholding from you is just a marketing tool in that approach.
A marketing tool that was, I think we can all agree, more consistent when it was in house rather than farmed out.
I'm still confused by this, consider Brawl decks could always contain EDH staples, there's no reason why they need to skip Brawl while promoting EDH, especially after their attempts during Eldraine only months ago.
I’m sure hearing a lot of “no” with Theros this time around. No brawl, no book, and with more hype being made for Ikoria while we waited for spoilers, no damns given either evidently
I am certainly more hyped for Ikoria than I am for Theros. It seems to suffer from middle child syndrome - not as good as the eldest child (Eldraine) and not as fun as the youngest child (Ikoria).
Can't wait to play it in Pioneer in a UW flier deck. Looks fun.
Why would you play this over Curious Obsession? One of the biggest reasons Mono U was powerful last season was the ability to go T1 1-drop T2 Obsession-Dive Down/Spell Pierce for your removal spell. The lifelink ability is relevant against aggro decks, which tend to pack cheap removal spells to clear blockers, and get a free 2-for-1 against somebody playing Auras.
This card may surprise me by becoming useful in Standard, but I'd never consider it for Pioneer when Obsession plus CMC 1 counters are already available.
Because you do not need to sacrifice the new card if you do not attack.
I can see emrakul and aetherfulix is still alive I see it will be a matter of time though that either one will get banned
And therein lies the problem. If the cards from RTR forward get banned in Pioneer, the same as those in Modern, then what's the point of Pioneer?
They should've thought about this a lot smarter. It's just causing a cluster**** of problems. Eitehr that or the player base doesn't know how to adapt or adjust accordingly.
'buster
What is the different between Modern and Pioneer if the same broken cards are banned in both? Well, there are more than 30 sets that Modern has access to that Pioneer does not. Also, Pioneer does not allow Fetches. Additionally, there is a huge disparity between the availability of cards printed in Pioneer-era sets compared to Modern-only sets.
So the Pioneer is way more accessible and affordable, the mana base is weaker (making 3 color decks harder to pull off) and the amount of legal cards is way smaller.

But stuff like this makes me want to spend less, not more.
