Ahh... Wizards pushing sales of product with lands is getting bad. It used to be once every few years, now it's multiple times a year. Enough already.

Does it really matter? We still get normal looking lands in all standard-legal sets, if that is your jam.

I really like how unique these lands look!

I am disappointed that you only get 2 of each land type per box (one foil and one normal). Huge let down because that means one would have to buy a ton of the exact same product to get all of the lands one wants/needs. At least with the booster pack model, I could draft the format and have fun multiple times. :/

I'm legitimately not happy with this. I don't make a whole lot of money, but I saved up and bought a foil Marrow Gnawer for Christmas. And now this gets annouced and will surely tank the price of the original.

The Kamigawa art for Marrow-Gnawer is stunning. Really captures the look and feel of the Nezumi (from L5R). Marrow-Gnawer from the Secret Drop looks like a Hamtaro. You have nothing to worry about in regards to your foil Marrow-Gnawer. Guaranteed.

Had no idea Marrow-Gnawer had gotten that expensive. I was about to blast it for low value then I saw that had shot up. I'm sure price will come down big time after release though.

Marrow-Gnawer is the third most popular mono-black commander on EDH-Rec. I remember trying to build a Rat deck around when Dominaria came out (to capitalize on Rat Colony) but by the time I got around to it, Marrow-Gnawer had spiked in value.

    The rat cards look great!

My friends are fawning over this set and are talking about making rat-themed commander decks.

Meanwhile, I am over here quietly chortling with my Hungry Lynx Halo

i've got no real complaints with these bannings. especially over time its going to be more and common to see two card combos given the volume of cards designed. that said sometimes i wonder how much cards being new influences their decision making process, and it calls into question how well they can police their own formats. the posts here make it clear the majority feel urza is the real problem, but the set he's in is premium priced and relatively new compared to mox opal. banning opal doesn't really hurt sales of packs, banning urza may slow the sale of modern horizons packs despite it being 6 months old now. it could be a stretch to make that assumption, but if it isn't i'd wager that line of thought toward bannings will have more of a detrimental effect on the game than oops we printed oko ever could

Yet they've now banned oko from almost every format, which will definitely hurt eldraine packs. I think past decision making has been pretty clear that they don't really mind combos or even just powerful cards too much, they prefer to try and ban around them to make them less consistent rather than ban the combo pieces themselves. Mycosynth lattice just happened to have a nasty habit of turning affinity decks to 11 even if they don't actually play artifacts. Urza affinity is a lot less menacing or consistent when you have to manually cast a whole mess of fragile cards before winning on the spot.

Agreed. WotC's philosophy is to keep the deck viable but neuter it until it is less of an issue.

I’m glad they’re aware of the Heliod combo. Wish they’d ban a part of it so people won’t hoard Heliod for this silly and likely temporary reason.

Can we just ban Oko in commander and call it a day?

I think it's still very possible that Oko will end up banned in commander....
mainly because transforming commanders to elks is FAR stronger than removing them by destroying, exiling or whatever.
people may start complaining and labeling it "unfun" and then it becomes banned there as well.

It doesn't look like that for now, but Oko can make your commander into a Elk and then steal it next turn....
when that happens in 1x1 commander you think you need to rethink your life... lol.

A friend uses him a lot. Oko is not that bad when you have 3 opponents gunning to kill him ASAP. Would not surprise me if the committee does ban him though. Really depends on how many people start fielding him and how many start complaining online.

I wonder if the issue has to do with all of the negative reaction that the War of the Spark story received. Eldraine's story was likely already mostly done by the time WAR's story came out but it was definitely still early enough to pull the plug on the Theros story. Additionally, other posters have stated that Theros apparently had a lot of difficulty during the design and development phase, so perhaps WotC decided to cut their losses on this set and focus on Ikoria and the other products coming out this year?

What is making gold in this set? Also, I thought gold was too good, which is why WotC made Treasure.

Given this card and Elspeth's new nightmare spear, I feel like someone at WotC does not like Voltron commanders. Rolleyes

This card is amazing. It is a board wipe for mana rocks in Commander! Already great!

The card can serve as a fun mana sink to save you late game. Nice utility!

It can also be used as a political tool in Commander games. You can save someone from certain death. You could also ruin someone's turn by nuking their artifacts... Unless they do what you want.

This card is pure political power. I love it.

WotC has made a lot of cards like this. Nice budget fixing for Commander and Draft, I suppose.

    Not a bad commander card.

I was playing in an Oathbreaker game recently that went really long. I had Mirari's Wake and Doubling Season out, then used Finale of Glory to summon 30 Angels but... I had to pass the turn as I did not have a haste enabler. If someone cast this card against me, they would have milled me out.

    You only draw one card.

My bad. This card is whatever then. Frown
