Feels like tiny leaders, and tiny leaders felt constrained despite having a much bigger list of cards.
Difference is, Tiny Leaders did not have WotC's official seal of approval. WotC will keep tweaking their releases to cater to Brawl, in a way that they simply would not do with Tiny Leaders (since it was unsanctioned>
Honestly, both locally and online, the verdict seems to be a general shrug of disinterest. That's not a bias I have, either; by the end of the day that Brawl was first revealed I had five decks built. I just can't seem to find someone who wants to play. And by now, I'm also getting a bit disillusioned - it's not that fun having to finish decks out with 5-10 cards that are pure jank just to make the numbers, there are obvious spikes and dead ends beyond just Baral, and it's hard to make a deck of one particular colour identity be different from another of the same colours.
Brawl has picked up steam locally. The local FLGS owner is going to start running 1v1 events. I see lots of people playing Brawl casually at the local store. Talking with people I know who do not go to stores, it seems mildly popular at kitchen tables. I think it is just going to be a regional thing, where some places embrace it and some do not. WotC will need to address the format's problems in some way before it can truly take off.
I agree. A good way to get some more foot traffic into the store. And opening a couple of packs a week before pre-release would be fun as well.
Sadly, all Planeswalker decks will only have 1 pack in them going forward BUT their price is dropping to 10.99. So give and take.
Just wanted to add that I think this is a good thing. Boosters in intro decks never sat right with me, and this is the same thing. There is no good reason to make new players buy boosters to get their hands on a starter product.
Boosters are important because they give new players instant access to new cards, with which they can start editing their deck. The packs also increase the perceived value of the starter deck.
However, the 15 dollar price tag was too high for an introductory product, especially when competitor's products are all around 10 dollars.
I don't really think Brawl is made for 1v1. It just leads to people playing the same commanders and the same decks (hence the nickname for 1v1 Brawl is Baral).
In multiplayer games, it is much easier to play with a wider diversity of Commanders and decks, since you can a) play political games and b) the strength of decks that do really well in 1v1 cannot usually take on more than 1 opponent at a time, for multiple rounds.
Same thing is true for Commander though. 1v1 Commander is hyper degenerate. Multiplayer Commander is much less so.
The optimized 1v1 Baral list can still archenemy three weaker commanders (ie anything not Bolas, Zacama, Muldothra or Jodah) with relative ease. I've both done it and had it done to me.

\"Juggernaught" is not a real word, and appears to simply be an attempt to apply the spelling of "naught" (zero) to a part of a word that would be a homonym on its own.
Etymology time: This misspelling seems to have come by analogy with Dreadnought, itself initially the name of a famous warship and later a class of similar ships. The name "Dreadnought" is just "dread nought"; i.e. "doesn't fear anything."
1. Maybe stop playing with people who only bring competitive decks
2. Play more multiplayer. That one guy bringing Baral is going to feel some pain when he angers three+ players.
What if they made BAB promos silver border cards in the future? Granted, I get they want to give players incentive to buy boxes, and cards that can be played at FNM are more compelling than cards that can't.
My guess is that Bolas will eventually invade Ravnica but the Gatewatch needs time to gather more Planeswalkers together before he can do so. Even with the planeswalkers the Gatewtch added in Dominaria, I do not think they have enough.
If I were a betting man, I would say that the start of the Invasion of Ravnica storyline will be Archery (so fall 2019). That means we will have 3 normal sets and 2 core sets of story buildup for the big invasion. If the Gatewatch can gather up 2 Planeswalkers per non-core set, that will be 6 more added to the pool (which can be Planeswalkers we have seen, or new ones). Then the Gatewatch will have like 12 or 13 Planeswalkers and Team Bolas will have 4 or 5. On the high end, that would be almost 20 Planeswalkers gathered on one plane, at one time. I feel like that is more than enough for Bolas to enact his plan.
So, yeah, the Gatewatch needs more sets to gather more walkers together.
Am I the only one who's had major issues with card warping? I'd estimate 70% of my 7 prerelease kits from the weekend had a dimple in the middle - if I hold the outside edge of the card and push it back and forth it pops. Might just be my sweaty hands, though.
I love eminence but Edgar and Inalla pushed the envelope quite a bit. I feel like the Ur-Dragon and Arahbo were about right. Useful and fun but not broken (especially considering how your opponent cannot interact with cards in the command zone).
What they need is a release valve so they can more broadly release the promo card later, preferably with variant art (so as to maintain the uniqueness of the original promo).
or since changing paper cards is hard, replace it with another card that is the the same thing exept is can't be blocked creatures with defender and isn't called juggernaut
That defeats the purpose of reprinting a nostalgia card.
on top of that it is all round a horrible card! if it would only not be forced o attack each turn i would have been fine with it.
Well then don't play with it? I mean you do realize there are cards in this set whose sole purpose is to tell new players that the card sucks and other cards a better, right? This is literally the reason Tolarian Scholar is in the set.
and this in a set that has a 5/4 for GGG that actually has a positive effect that does something. (yes yes i , colorless vs green... but srsly every color has something better to offer than this)
Steel Leaf Champion gets to have a lot of upsides because casting a spell for is waaaay more difficult than casting a spell for . Steal Leaf Champion can really only go into Gren Decks. Juggernaut can go into any deck.

This change is a good thing, for sure.
I have not seen that but good for you?

Still, I could definitely see a lot more Planeswalker decks being sold if they were available 2 weeks early.
People do the same thing with "Astronaught"
2. Play more multiplayer. That one guy bringing Baral is going to feel some pain when he angers three+ players.
it would not meaningfully boost sales.

I have not experienced this issue at all.

No, it makes a lot of sense to be on Dominaria.
It is actually decent to good in limited.
Unblockable would be terribly broken. If they errataed it to Defender, they may as well have printed a different card.
That defeats the purpose of reprinting a nostalgia card.
