How are people not running Trinisphere in all of their lists and not running Stoneforge Mystic. It seems that this deck runs a lot of equipment and the Stoneforge would be pretty solid.
I like this list a lot because it doesn't flat out lose to Extirpate/Crypt because of the Stoneforge package. The deck lacks a power level advantage in the early game, and the Stoneforge package gives it some mmph
WotC said that they wouldn't print those sort of cards for a while because Planeswalkers are still relatively new. My guess is in about five years there will be a Planeswalker set with common planeswalkers whose ultimates would mind rot the opponent or something like that
I was playing a RGB Valakut list with Slave of Bolas, Lavalanche, Resounding Thunder. It is pretty late in the game and I have 1 Forest, 4 Mountain, 1 Swamp, 1 Valakut. My opponent has just cast a Baneslayer Angel, and has an active Knight of Reliquery and a couple dudes. I am close to twenty and he is at 17, but I have a Harrow in hand and a Kahlni Heart Expedition in hand. He attacks me for a bunch and goes up to 22 and I go to very little. He passes the turn and I draw Slave of Bolas. I take his Knight of Reliquery, float the green and use Knight of Reliquery to fetch a Valakut. I use the green and two red to sac the swamp and get two mountains dealing 12 to him, then am able to sacrifice the Kahlni Heart expedition to deal 12 more to him sending him to -2.
I was thinking of it in one of those turbo fog decks...like the mana base is stable enough to add Kahlni Gardens and the Emrakul comes in handy to shuffle back your hand. In some games you eventually hit 15 mana anyway. Also, it would probably just result in the cutting of the Wall of Omens, which I never liked in the deck since Angelsong always seemed to do more as the game progressed...
In one game I played 2 Lavaball Traps and drew my miser's Chandra Ablaze late in the game and was able to get her Ultimate off along with a couple of bolts
As much as people will tell you Mono Red Burn is not a legit contender, it is very strong. It can out race Dredge on the play, but it has a trouble with them on the draw. It can beat Zoo and DDT as well. It has no great match-ups, but definitely has bad match-ups such as mono white. I recommend it though since I think that Living End can be hated out just as easy as Mono Red.
I got sick of Tectonic edge, cut all of the nonbasics except for 4 Crumbling Necropolis and run all basics. It is not bad, I hit Cruel consistantly still, usually turn 8...turn 7 would be nice, but turn 8 usually I can stick a sphinx with counter and removal back up with a Cruel following within 2 turns. Bumped the land count to 28, it is ok
I dunno, but in Wisconsin I have learned that manners in Magic are nearly unheard of. I am usually at the top tables and I will admit, and am not proud to admit, that I am somewhat of an ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ in paper magic, even though I am quiet online and on these forums. It seems that there is a good mixture of bad mannered Magic players with pro points in Wisconsin, not Adrian Sullivan or Guadenis, but there are certain players who just are such babies. On the other hand there are the Adrians and Guadenises who are very nice and keep placing highly at events.
I think that there is a line though between cheating and being an ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺. And there is also a line between being offensive towards your opponent and being an ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ who is just doing it to toy with their opponent. I am fine with slow play (as long as it isn't a form of cheating like trying to stall from game 2 into time) and I am also fine with the people who card flick as loud as possible during their opponents turn. I am fine with the questions such as "are you done?" because many times they are asked as clarification of a step ending or turn ending.
I think my biggest peeve was brought up in one of Chapin's articles...and it is the lack of hygiene shown by Magic players. I know that my group of friends has the theory that the smellier the player, the worse he is. If you go sniffing around the top tables of a PTQ even you can smell Axe body spray, Old Spice deodorant, and if I am there, by some miraculous series of events, some of P. Diddy's I AM KING cologne.
I like the idea in the lists that run Rampant Growths and Borderland Rangers, but in my honest opinion I think that the card does not have a place in Jund. Jund's good match-ups such as Vampires would get significantly worse without the two 4/4 fliers. Also, when they cast the Broodmate Dragon against Bushwacker they now are given unblockable 8 damage as well as two blockers.
The only thing I would mention that some have not mentioned is that Baloth also does not die to Burst Lightning, where as Broodmate does.
Baloth has a place in standard: I like him in my Valakut list and I think I saw some Magical Christmasland decks running it at one point.
