I HATE giving other people cards! The power of potential cards in your opponent's hands is devastating! That's why I always try to shut down my friend's Phyrexian Arena whenever he plays it, because I know he needs those extra cards (I traded for a Phyrexian Arena yesterday BTW, super happy!).

Also, welcome back Lady Valkyrie, you have been moved back to the new members list!

Yeah, I always love when people play things like Rites of Flourishing and Howling Mine/Font of Mythos; because people play that as their only card draw and it just helps me letting me hold mine own back. Grin

But yeah, I destroy single-person card draw all the time. Set Abominae has recently gotten a Honden of Seeing Winds for his blue decks. And it's like "God damnit". XD

I'm not saying it's going to be a "top-tier" general, by any means. It could lead to some interesting decks. There are plenty of haste enablers (i.e. Thousand-Year Elixir), that you could starting putting out fate counters on turn four. Plus, having a repeatable exile effect is awesome. You hand them a couple of cards, which is nice and political, but you get rid of something (hopefully) worse.

There are few things I dislike more than giving my opponents more cards. Especially players in R/G who tend to run out of gas first. I don't think we're going to see eye to eye on this card because I feel like it has absolutely no redeeming qualities at all.

As for the Triad, I think they could be ok. Aside from the obvious interaction with Oblivion Stone, they'll be bonkers with Ashen Rider. Just flicker the rider and exile a permanent. I thought it was going to be two, but the second trigger is only when it dies. Oh well.

But it's four mana. All of it's abilities are tapping abilities, and you have to have a fate counter on it in order to use either of it's other abilities. Assuming you don't have a haste enabler and no acceleration it's turn four before you get it out, turn five for a fate counter, and then turn six to use it's other abilities.

It's just slow and bad, I don't know. I think it's junk. Especially when there's a lot more effective blink stuff (for it's white ability) and card draw for it's black ability.

I wasn't overly impressed with Theros, to be honest. I didn't find any of the gods except Purphyros to be that interesting. I felt that Triad of Fates was particularly horrible though. Slant I was really hoping for a strong b/w legendary creature and that one fell incredibly short.

(Sorry I've been inactive, I'm bad at this.)

I don't think it entirely counts as bad threat assessment since it may just be terrible plays, but he will just cast his removal for no good reason since he has nothing else to do.

I feel like this is specifically bad threat assessment. I hate when people make a stupid/bad play and say "WELL I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO". That's one of my pet peeves and makes me kind of dismiss someone as a player, because it's so ridiculous.

We were playing a casual game at the LGS we go to, and it was at a massive world game with about six people playing in it. One of the guys there, Set Abominae, was playing a RG deck with a lot of ramp, at the point he was tapped out but he had... Sylvan Primordial, Mana Reflection, Terastadon, and Aggravated Assault. So I dropped a Hokori, Dust Drinker to try and stem the tide of his deck.

The guy immediately to the right of me decides he wants to play an Act of Treason and, due to the urging of the people at the table- and specifically Set Abominae- he uses the Act on my Hokori to run it in to Set's creatures in order to get rid of the tax effect.

So then the next turn, Set Abominae Comet Storm multi-kicked killed three people and then took the next two people out. And that was the time the entire table assessed threats so so poorly it was physically painful. ><

    What's everyone's favorite general?

My favorites are either Rhys the Redeemed or Khemba, Kha Regent. Grin

Ok good, I was thinking I might have to kick you, and I haven't done that with anyone yet.

So anyways glad to have you!

Nuu! You don't have to kick me. I've played a lot of EDH. I'm actually in a league at my local game store. (Not winning, but still. Haha.)

I pretty much only play EDH these days.

    You don't have an EDH?!?

But this is an EDH clan!!! Please tell me you've at least played EDH a little.

Oh yeah, I have a ton of EDH experience, I just took my last deck apart and haven't built a new one yet! I was thinking of making Ezuri elf-tribal all permanents save for Primal Surge.

The last I had built was R/W Aurelia. Smile

So, Spellbinder is an equipment I am trying to use in my Khemba EDH deck. I was wondering how the copied spell being cast interacts with damage.

If you were to imprint something like Akroma's Blessing to it and then, if the equipped creature did damage to a player, the copy of the spell would go on the stack. So, I give my creatures protection from the color after the fact.

Does that protect the creatures? Or are they already dead by that point? Or does this interaction work how I think it does, or would the spell be useless at that point because damage has already been dealt in order for the effect to trigger?

I love Enchantments for reals, so this is a very difficult question for me to answer. I don't know, there are so many great ones, in so many colors, and doing so much that I really love for them to do.

See, like recently, I've really been in love with Collective Blessing in my GW Populate deck, and though I love it, I also love a lot of the other enchantments in it too.

Though I guess for what it's worth my favorite is Sylvan Library. Card selection in green! Plus with all my mana fetching capability it's pretty easy to shuffle away cards that don't work for me. Plus I play a lot of G/W with incidental life gain so I don't even mind paying extra life for cards that I do want before I shuffle them away.

First of all, I wanted to note:
    Brion Stoutarm
    Legendary Creature — Giant Warrior 4/4, 2WR (4)
    Lifelink

{R}, {T}, Sacrifice a creature other than Brion Stoutarm: Brion Stoutarm deals damage equal to the sacrificed creature's power to target player.

Emphasis mine, which is the reason I never choose Brion Stoutarm. He cannot fling himself at your opponent. People forget this, commonly, and it's one of the reasons I don't play him often.

That being said, I chose Jor Kadeen. Because with his ability triggering on metalcraft. And all the good white ways to get artifacts out, plus with the reliance on artifact mana and red's land destruction, I've seen Jor Kadeen beat people so much they should rename him Ike Turner. Slant

Jor Kadeen is the most consistent RW deck I've ever played against. Gisela is expensive and paints a giant target on the person playing her- and that is even before they get Gisela out, just the threat of her is enough to paint that target.

Brion Stoutarm can benefit from things like Lightning Greaves or Thousand-Year Elixir, and you can do fun stuff like throwing Serra Avatar at an opponent.

I feel Razia is just too expensive. I like Basandra, but I don't think she's enough bang for her buck; keeping combat tricks down is going to help, but I think in the long run it's just going to piss people off, and make the person playing her a target.

And if you're going to play a pump general, obviously Jor Kadeen is better than Agrus Kos, hands down.

Especially with Open the Vaults. If you can put yourself in a situation where you're the one who gets the most advantageous board position out of it, that would be great. (Using things like Tormod's Crypt, Bojuka Bog, Nihil Spellbomb, Withered Wretch and Relic of Progenitus, in Esper. Also, depending on what general you use, I guess it'd have to be in five color or Bant, you could get good use out of Scavenging Ooze.)

I've been watching it. I think it's pretty good, I do love a good mystery. I find it to be pretty tense, but I don't find it as terrifying as the commercials say it is. Though some of the scenes do completely pander to some of my worst fears. :3

But I think it's got potential as well. I'm probably going to keep watching it.
