So, this is an idea for a 10ish-turn kill combo for limited (more like a turn-18-oh-finally-I-got-the-fourth-swamp-combo), if you are a Johnny using a Spike, Tournament Grinder… I used cards that I could find at home, obviously with black lotus and friends it could be easier
I used 4 dark ritual, a lotus petal, 2 grapeshot, a seething song and Yawgmoth's Will (the only pricey card of the list). They were all banned in extended except for grapeshot, which is banned in pauper, and seething song, which is banned in modern. This implies that you are using a heavily black deck but red is not needed.
Turn 4: play Spike (of course you had that in your hand!)
Turn 5 (or when you get the 4th swamp): get dark ritual with Spike’s ability (you could start also by paying life, but you’ll need those later maybe)
Turn 6: another dark ritual (you can skip this turn by paying 8 life)
Turn 7: you have BBBB, cast dark ritual x2 to get BBB+BBB+BB
Use Spike’s ability x2 to get dark ritual + dark ritual
Turn 8: same as turn 7 but get lotus petal and seething song with Spike.
Turn 9: here’s when things happen. Let’s say you have 4 swamp, 2 island (or other lands) and at least 3 life.
Get BBBB+UU from your lands
Cast lotus petal, use it to get R, then use UUR to cast seething song.
You now have BBBB+RRRRR, storm counter (SC) 2
Spike’s ability paying BBB+ 2 life --> Yawgmoth’s will
Cast Yawgmoth’s will paying RRB, SC 3, you have RRR
Cast lotus petal from graveyard, use it to get B, then use RRR to cast seething song from GY.
You now have B+RRRRR, SC 5
Cast dark ritual, then cast dark ritual x3 (all from GY) --> BBB+BBB+BBB+RRRRR, SC 9
Spike’s ability x2 paying BBBB --> grapeshot x2
You have B+ RRRRR, you can cast grapeshot x2 for 10+11 life
You can skip some final passages and take demonic tutor for crow storm from your deck, if you want to win as the set intended
Some useful cards you can also get with Spike (which may let you win the match without going through all that stuff): hypnotic specter, umezawa's jitte, skullclamp, bitterblossom, smuggler's copter
So, now that Brainstorm has been spoiled, this leaderboard will completely be warped and I’m kicked out of the competition, so I can start to speculate: who is gonna win this competition? I assume that at least someone will get 10 cards out of 10: Zephyr’s guessing is pretty solid and there are so many people, at least someone will get everything right. But I believe that someone who is currently at 8 cards guessed will take over everyone else: I kept studying the people over me in the board and currently there are no people who guessed 9 card and can beat Zephyr. Talking about who was at 8 guessed and was over me, only Festivus and kyurealm can go up to 10 right guessed cards. About everyone else, guessing brainstorm right can’t help you beating the others because it is values -1630 points, it would be really hard to win starting from so low.
