A reasonable thought would be to offer collateral in whatever cards you do own roughly equivalent to the value of the Legacy deck you're borrowing. I mean, clearly you want to keep your standard cards, so there is a strong incentive there to return the deck.

uh, soulstoke is a "beat blue" approach. it has nothing to do with aggro versus control, it has to do with how much blue is in your metagame. there's a reason that faeries players will double peppersmoke a soulstoke on their turn rather than let elementals untap with it, and why QnT will firespout it away in a 1 for 1 trade. you get to play things for 1R at instant speed, uncounterably. you've clearly never played legacy, or you'd understand that aether vial is absurdly good. it's kind of like that, except in many ways better, since you can put shriekmaws or cloudthreshers into play, at instant speed, uncounterably, and then they attack. that is so incredibly good that I honestly feel bad that you haven't been playing elementals with 4. you did say you've been playing with 0 or 2. try going up to 4. you board them out against kithkin, sure, but soulstoke is amazing against just about everything else. they HAVE to remove it, even more so than mauler.

why does elementals want a 2R drop that isn't soulstoke? I get that it gets hyooj etc vs. aggro, but it doesn't flat out win you the game if they don't kill it. soulstoke Just Wins Games.

The reason that Reanimator was viable back in Ye Olden Days was because it had access to insanely good cards. Let's count them, shall we? 1. Buried Alive: It's like TfK, only you get to draw three targets and discard them all! It's also playable off of Dark Ritual on turn 1! 2. Entomb: See Buried Alive, only even faster. Note its current ban in Extended. There is a reason for that. 3. Exhume: 1B for a sick effect. Dark Ritual, Entomb, Exhume. Nice deck. 4. Reanimate: See Exhume. You have 1 reanimation spell and no way to find it. TBH, it really just looks like a weird version of Quick 'n' Toast, since that, too, is a Mannequin-playing list that likes to draw cards and occasionally play Careful Consideration.

    Quote from TheChosen1
Sigh, this is exactly what I was referring to at the end of the OP. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the conversation, why post at all? All you did was randomly flame me, exaggerate my comments, then state the obvious, all while missing the entire strategy of the decklist that I posted originally anyway. You don't NEED to just sit around like a moron with nothing to do, running that list. It isn't "I play Magus of the Bazaar, then wait until I draw into Dread Return". Quit letting your childish sense of supremacy post for you, and take your elitist nonsense out of this thread until you actually have something to add.

    1. I don't have anything constructive to add because you are posting a decklist in a format where you know X of the cards out of X + ~200 of the cards. Remember how everyone thought that Teachings was going to be the Best Evar last October and it only won NY, and then only because Jim Davis played it? You're doing that, only you aren't even advocating for the best block list, you're just coming up with a concept that has rarely worked, and certainly lacks the speed to, from what we've seen. 2. The strategy of your decklist is a sort of card advantage-controlly-reanimator hybrid, I get it. The problem is that you will lose to commonly played cards like Cryptic Command. 3. If I'm "randomly flaming" you without calling you names, going ad hom, or insulting you as a player, then what is "Quit letting your childish sense of supremacy post for you, and take your elitist nonsense out of this thread until you actually have something to add."? Because it sure sounds like you're calling me childish, elitist, and nonsensical.

hey guys look at me I'm speculating as to the viability of a deck in a format where I don't know 200 or more of the cards clearly my pet deck will do well, for i can use straw man arguments and poor logic and this is all speculative anyways so basically you guys are wrong ha ha! tl;dr: don't feed the troll, this is the stereotypical post that happens weeks or months before a set is released, touting the to-be success of a deck that won't show up, based on the loss of cards and the addition of WHAT A COOL TARGET Proof: yes, reanimator did exist in this t2, after lorwyn was released. it had 8 reanimation spells, akroma, and hellkite. it played prowler and something like sift, i forget. it won against base-green aggro and lost to counterspells. to OP: unless cabal therapy gets reprinted, you are talking about this for your win condition: 1. draw target 2. draw self-discard spell 3. draw mannequin 4. resolve self-discard spell 5. resolve mannequin 6. the opponent cannot have ANYTHING that targets your reanimated creature 7. you only get 4 thoughtseizes 8. also, they can't have played gaddock teeg, or you have to have nameless inversion as well so i don't think it's really as simple as "so you have this reanimator deck, see. and then you win, since there's nothing else worth playing!"

why you are not playing 4 cryptic command is beyond me it's clearly the best card in the format and it's not even close.

Coldsnap is easy, There's hardly any that are worth more than a dollar:

    Scrying sheets
    Adarkar valkyrie

    That's about it.

Foil Snow Island is around $5, actually.

On a more serious note, Counterbalance is close to being the most expensive card in the set, but Haakon and Ohran Viper are up there as well.
