    I'd love to talk GJ.

Could we talk about Brinatoo? Me and Blos just iso'd him.
Would you be for lynching Atog instead of Ghosting?
Do you believe Seppel that the laptop is one-shot only and therefore already expended?
Do you believe Ghosting's alternate win con? Is he just trying to survive as long as he can by sticking to the story?

What's your view on the game state? Who's the scum (besides Brinatoo)?

Actually, I thought the same thing. I was reading Off the Grid too. I actually wrote in my notepad file that I wanted to lynch Atog first, but then I ran across that other thing and I wasn't as sure. Those were the only two times those slots even talked to each other, for the most part. So I'm not actually certain they're unaligned. Slant

    What do you think?

Shrugs just about sums up the game for me at this point. But I guess Atog is more likely to flip scum than Brinatoo on the whole, and if he flips scum I think that Brinatoo isn't likely aligned and the last scum is in Hunger/Seppel/Huntz.

    Anyone need Sakura-Tribe Elder 5-8?

    Primal Druid

We already had Sakura-Tribe Elder #5-8 in Viridian Emissary, so this probably won't contribute anything to Modern unless the 0/3 body is more relevant than a 2/1 body for some reason. Still, it's a nice card to have in Standard/Limited.
You know, I took a break from Magic right after that rotated and it totally slipped my mind.

Druid might be better in one of those Assault Formation lists in the Forest Belcher thread, I suppose.

I missed the name of the guy I was voting for. That's a little too sloppy for me, even around RVS. Slowed it back down a bit. Let's hear a response.

I assume the "slowdown" is also why you didn't revote the correct player?

I understand your confused reaction at the James Bond claim. It's a natural, townie reaction to wonder why on earth a townie would do such a thing. Why didn't you give any thought to why a scum would? What does "trying too hard" mean?

On one hand you're confused about why NAG would claim the name in the game for no apparent reason and think through the reasons aloud. On the other hand, you're confident enough that it's either "fake" and "trying too hard", or a "terrible move", and you vote. The reasoning is flimsy, and the "lying or playing badly" accusation is a false dichotomy scum love to use. Combine that with the sloppiness of getting the name wrong, and the backpedaling 'slowdown', it looks a lot less like trying to figure the situation out and a lot more like fear of James Bond.
I agree with how wishywashy the statements are but don't believe this is a natural, townie reaction as I described above. I believe it is a natural error by scum.
Is this how you contradict a scum buddy? Maybe. On the one hand, it's almost like "hop on this wagon with me." On the other, it's so... "You're just wrong." Null, I guess, but it's nagging at me.

Jobie why'd you go and post that? I was hoping he'd move onto Bloscovi next and I could land him... In America! Ah well UNVOTE, Vote Hunger [\b] Stop lurking and give me something to read -.- like your thoughts on Proph or Ghosting's recent silence.
Emphasis on "something." Less than 3 weeks to add something, anything tangible with his V/LA in play.
I don't know if I want Atog dead if Brinatoo flips scum. I don't think he'd call further attention to his scum buddy's lack of participation. Of course, then there's this...

@Kraj, Proph, Brinatoo, Hunger Pick a number 1-25, there is likely a wrong answer, but there may not be a right answer. If you do not respond within your next two posts you will be voted for.
10, what number do you pick?
Which Jobie never responds to and Brinatoo never follows up on. Could have been an easy interaction between scumbuddies. Ugh.

I plan on being MC Hammer.
I forgot about this, he already breadcrumbed his item has something to do with the lynch.
    Quote from Brinatoo »
I wanted to be the hammer in case there was a quick wagon with opportunistic votes on him (which there could have been because his wagon was 4 votes at its peak iirc.) I was watching Mindreaver's wagon with the same mindset/considering my scumreads. And if I have to explain myself even further about this I think you're not understanding my position and should figure it out. Smileup if you can't touch this.
Breadcrumbed it hard. So I guess something happens if Brinatoo hammers. We'll have to wait for the claim to see what.

There's some questionable stuff in his iso, but he's brought up some points that I'm not sure scum in his position would, like the Ghosting run up in #1481. Even though it was too late, he seemed legitimately upset that we might have quick-lynched like that.
Overall: Null / 10, would allow the lynch but not push the wagon myself.

Eldritch Evolution will see play, as a budget Chord replacement if nowhere else. Lupine Prototype might see play in 8-Rack as a fast clock, they were brewing with it on the 8-Rack thread I think.

    Anyone need Sakura-Tribe Elder 5-8?

    Primal Druid

Also I'd like whoever noticed what I did prior if it is telling, never been in a predicament like this and would like past examples that I could compare to.
I think this is directed at me, but I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Are you asking for examples of where scum in another game did the same thing you did? I just felt the mindset you were approaching the game from was "not-town," not that anything you specifically did was a scum tell. Like I said, I put myself in your shoes and couldn't see why you would say that as town.

Of course, that's contingent on you recognizing that Mindreaver was obviously joking about his read on JD. If, as you say, you weren't sure, then I can see most of what you said being reasonable as town even if it isn't what I would have said.

I also think Brinatoo should claim.

Take Inventory was dang good in UR Delver as Ancestral Vision's speedy little brother. I was commonly casting 2-3 Take Inventorys in games, and the CA wins games.
Not a delver player, but have you tried Think Twice in the same spot? Take Inventory is sorcery speed and isn't card advantage until you find and cast the second one for +1 cards, and doesn't beat Think Twice until you cast all four for +10 cards versus +8.

I'm sure you have, it just doesn't look that great to me on paper when you're trying to gain card advantage. Although I suppose it plays a little bit better with Snapcaster Mage, letting you get 10-14 cards if you draw the playset instead of just 8 depending on which Take Inventory you flashback.

Stunning Growth into Splendid Reclamation has me wondering again if the translations here are truly correct. I thank all of you for the translations but you can see why I keep having doubt. Those two card names aren't even close. Frown
I know this is pretty non-intuitive to those who aren't familiar with the language in question, but there's many many factors at play here. For example, the WotC Japanese localization team may have chosen words with slightly different meanings for the name to make it more poetic in that language, or there are several words in English with the same meaning when usually one word serves in Japanese.

Regardless, there's a huge difference between the wording used in names and the wording used in rule text. A native speaker who also plays Magic would certainly know whether the text says your graveyard or all graveyards, or whether it says tapped or untapped, etc. without necessarily knowing the exact name chosen by WotC for the English name. Egg on my face if they're wrong, but I suspect they aren't.

  • posted a message on A Brief Report of MTGS Mafia Player Numbers
Well, I'm sort of new, but I think part of the apparent volatility of micros is that the recent ones have had strange gimmicks. Blackout Mafia has multiple lynches per day and random role and alignment selection, Prisoner's Dilemma was entirely about gaming the mechanics of the lynch vs escape, Courtly Intrigue was Kingmaker with a Jester, Iso's Micro #2 had a bomb and essentially mason-lovers, Drunken Tracker had, well, a bunch of drunk trackers.

Those games all looked fun, but they made the games end very quickly or at least gave them the potential to end quickly due to a misplay. A micro should be fine for new players if it's relatively straight. When I played face-to-face games we only ever had 10 players at most. It's not exactly the same thing, but it's comparable.

Personally, I'd love to play in a themed set of four games with increasing complexity. But some people may not want to sign up for four-ish games in a row before they even know whether they like the game or not, so that should be taken into consideration.

I was thinking a Naya shell with Countryside Crusher and Knight of the Reliquary.

EoT - Realms Uncharted for Valakut, Mountain, Sacred Foundry, Stomping Ground into Stunning Growth would be pretty good, too.

The laptop just has 1 shot, so it doesn't matter what day anyone has the laptop, so long as it still has that 1 shot.
Right, but like NaG said Seppel claimed that already.

Is there anything else about it, though? That's what I'm asking. Unclaimed stuff.

Dredge - Valakut combo? Probably too cute for Modern, but I can dream...

Maybe Loam could play it with Valakut though?
