What do you guys think is the most competitive +1/+1 counter deck? I am in a commander league and am in the final three going into the last week so i will be in a three person game with the other two for the final week and really want to win. While i want a competitive deck i am also a budget player (i have never spent more then $5 on a card) so there a lot of good +1/+1 cards i don't have at my disposal, notably; Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, Bloodspore Thrinax (really wish i bought this when it was a dollar :frown:), as well as other cards like Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Supreme Verdict, Wrath of God, Mirari's Wake, Rhystic Study, Tamiyo or any good infect cards (i don't like using infect). I do have just about every other good +1/+1 card, have bought the Atraxa & Ezuri precon, have Cyclonic Rift, Chromatic Lantern, Contagion Engine, Lux Cannon, Aura Shards, Dictate of Erebos, Birds of Paradise, Avenger of Zendikar, Woodfall Primus, Craterhoof Behemeth, some tier 2 tutors with Dark Petition, Sidisi, Green Sun Zenith, Traverse the Ulvenwald, Congregation at Dawn and Morir Vig and some budget planeswalkers with Elspeth vs Kioria, Nissa vs Ob Nixilis, new Ajani, Vraska, Dovin Baan, newest Sorin & Nissa VF.
I would say there is a 50% chance one of my opponents is playing Derivi, no idea who other guy is playing. With all this being said who do you think my best bet would be to go with, also feel free to comment on who you think the best +1/+1 counter commander is disregarding what i have (feel free to pick someone other then the three i mention) the only cards that i mentioned that i don't plan on getting any time soon are probably Doubling Season and Vampiric Tutor.
I would side out 1 land, Arlin Kord, Ulrich, Green Hulk, Cruiser, 2 Hydras,2 Trackers and 3 Attune with Aeither for the 8 one drops and 4 Bushwhackers to go all out aggro. Note that this isn't my absolute optimal deck, there was some one selling Green Hulk for less then $3 (at the time next cheapest was $10) so i pre-ordered one so i will be happy if i get just the 1, but if i open another at pre-release at would probably take out Ulrich for it. Also i only have 3 Cinder Glades, will probably get a 4th if this turns into my main deck. Have pre-ordered a lot of the cards for this deck already (no Cruisers tho), only ordered 1 Aether Hub, am hoping between pre-release and draft next Friday i get at least 2 more, but where do you see the price of this card going?
If this deck were to run any 5 drops what do you think the best option is? It seems most would say Verdurous Gearhulk, which is probably right, but seeing how it is already at $15 what's the next best option (or possibly better?); Reality Smasher (seeing how we are already running 4 colorless sources, would probably have to add a couple more tho which might make it not worth it), Ulrich of the Krallenhorde (if you are going for a werewolf sub-theme which i might), Mirrorwing Dragon (if you are running a lot of pump spells or maybe sideboard against control, although this is the only one that doesn't do anything right away so probably not), Skysovereign, Consul Flagship (seems good), Nissa, Vital Force (not much cheaper money wise), and Decimator of the Provinces (obviously not technically a five drop, and wouldn't really work if your running Fleetwheel Cruiser as a four drop, although i really like the idea of sacking Lathnu Hellion to it if you're out of energy but that would make this a 6 drop then).
I don't think i want my main deck to be quite this aggro, but i think i might put 8 one drops and 4x Reckless Bushwacker in my sideboard now for games i go first and probably against decks with no board wipes.
I dono if i would call either of those energy decks rather just R/G decks that happen to use some energy cards, neither seem that aggro either, although i am surprised one of them is running 4x Bristling Hydra.
I have been very tempted by it but I just don't know how I feel about it. Mostly because the exile ability isn't a may ability and it's a 1/1. Real killable and then you just lose all those exiled cards. I feel like I'd end up wasting spells trying to protect it for a pile of cards that I don't know what they are.
Why does it matter that it's a may? I doubt there is going to be any mil decks in standard so i don't think you need to worry about that, also if it does die wouldn't you be able to still get the exiled cards by playing a second one or does each one make their own separate pile?
The Looters Scooter is pretty beast. Looting away extra lands and getting what you need is key. I do think that it is better in a more token type deck. However it won't stop me from trying it out more. I might drop it to a 3 of.
Kessig Prowler is perfect for crewing the Fleetwheel tho, also i'm not sure about Filigree Familiar in a aggro deck, might be a decent sideboard card but i'm sure there's another artifact creature you could run if you are trying to get to 8 for delirium. Speaking of delirium does any one know if vehicle counts as it's own separate card type, iv'e tried searching online and couldn't find anything (so it's probably a stupid question).
I just thought of a decent combo, Electrostatic Pummeler with Built to Smash. Paying 3 energy makes it a 8/8 with trample, or if you happen to have 6 energy 16/16 with trample or if you have 2 Built to Smash/pump spells a 14/14 with trample or if you somehow happen to have both 6 energy and 2 pump spells a 28/28 =). Not sure if it's good enough for standard, but just a thought.
Mana is super loose but hasty beaters are better than non-hasty beaters.
Seeing how you are running 4 Kessig Prowlers wouldn't it be a good idea to replace one or two of the Brazen Scourges with Geier Reach Bandits. I think all the upside is worth the 1 less toughness, can become a 4/3 and if it is flipped your Prowlers come out flipped as well, plus it is only single red instead of double red. Also while on the topic of werewolves if running 4 Lathnu Hellions i think Lambholt Pacifist would be a good 2 drop, especially if you still plan on running Larger than Life over Built to Smash.
Does the new Liliana fit in a Delirium deck even without any zombies? It does have self mil and Planeswalker is another card type in itself to help activate Delirium. Also what about the new Delirium spider? I can't decide if i want to lower or raise my curve of my current deck, raise with Emrakul and maybe spider, or lower with Gnarlwood.
I don't like the idea of having the same deck as everyone else, do you think Tangle Golem over Leaherbaack Baloth is a bad idea tho, or does this deck get stuck at 3 mana a lot.

If you are going to use Smuggler's Copter maybe you should try out Bomat Courier as a one drop.
