Huh. I honestly like the artwork on these Walkers better than that artwork on the other ones. That includes Chandra.

So, Dovin is in this set as well. That leaves only Tezzeret for Aether Revolt.

I'm fairly certain it's Dominara. The Elder Dragons wars were fought on Dominara. It's a little known fact, but the Elder Dragon Palladia-Mors was actually his sister. As far as we know, she was not a planeswalker, so she would have had to originate from Dominara.

One thing I'm curious about: that mosaic of Kiran. If the Nalaars are/were wanted criminals, who put it up and why doesn't the Consulate take it down? I feel like it could be a hint that politics in Kaladesh are not quite as Chandra left them...

I get the feeling you're taking this in the right direction. From what they said in this story, it seems like the renegades are a fairly large movement. They might be influential enough that the consulate would be worried about angering them by taking the mosaic of Kiran down. They probably decided that since it was put up in out of the way ally, people would forget about it eventually. The old "out of sight, out of mind." Let's see how that works out for them. Wink

Could someone please post the Tezzeret art?

I do wonder if both Tezzeret and Dovin are going to be in this set. That would leave only one set for Aether Revolt.

I'm now somehow sure that Dovin Baan ain't the villain of this story. EEK!
    Don't know why... :p
nope Dovin may look like a strawman but he will be a hero of this story. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Just because they introduce a character and give them a card, does not mean they will feature prominently in the story. Just ask Arlinn.

    Why is that a cliche?

No body = not dead. This is such a prevalent cliche, it's use is one of the most reliable ways of predicting plot developments. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just cliche.

Developmental reasons aside, Tezzeret being High Judge alone does make his identity at least partially White. The rule with color identity is that personality comes first, and tools come second. Even if he still has a Blue-Black personality, as High Judge, he is playing by White rules. He is using the system, which is generally a White thing. I've personally always found this "tools determine identity" argument to be a bit flimsy, but it is the way that color identity works, as defined by Maro and Wizards.

Now, as for Tamiyo, her card might have had entirely Blue abilities, but her personality at the time was very much Bant. First of all, she was looking out for the greater good while on Innistrad. Believing you are serving the common good is a White thing. She was also practicing biology at the time, a very Green-Blue field, and she also believed in letting things play out with minimal interference. This is a Green trait. Honestly, she fits more as a Bant than Tezzeret does as an Esper.

Not every character gets a card.

No, but these are likely to be the ones that do. Liliana is obviously a major player in the set, but she just got a card last set, so she won't be getting one now. Also, there is literally no possible way Chandra is not getting a card. If it's been long enough for Chandra to get a reprint, then it's been long enough for Nissa to get a reprint, which is essential, as the story doesn't appear to have any other green walkers. Dovin is going to get a card, as he was just introduced, with a planeswalker profile and everything. That leaves one walker slot open, which I'm going to put my money on Tezzeret, because A) he looks to be the villian of this block, and B) unlike Chandra, Liliana, and Nissa, it's been several years since we got him in card form.

Okay, so it looks like this is going to be our Walker breakdown of the block.

    Nissa G
    Chandra R
    Saheeli UR
    Dovin WU?
    Tezzeret UB?

That gives us the following color distribution:

    W: 0.5
    U: 1.5
    B: 0.5
    R: 1.5
    G: 1

Kind skewed. Dovin actually needs to have a W component. Otherwise, W won't have anything.

Also please don't complaet this wonderful plane Frown Finally a plane again that looks nice and optimistic...even their gremlins are the cutest things ever. Ah well...

I'm sorry, but it's inevitable. Wizards loves screwing up everyone's favorite planes.

Im confused, isn´t Chandras parents dead?

Kiran is dead, but they never showed Pia's body. That's writer's shorthand for "not dead."

Pia Nalaar alone is so much worse than Pia and Kiran Nalaar it hurts.

Isn't this the way it's supposed to be? Rolleyes Her husband is dead. Of course she feels hollow and empty.

Okay, here's my proper evaluation of the story.

Writing was fair, about as good as we can expect. Doug Beyer is definitely one of the better writers on Creative, but not the best. The only thing that felt pushed was Liliana's corruption of Chandra. I mean, that was just a little too easy at some parts.

I'm glad Tezzeret is back, though I do wonder how he got in-vegtabled. Perhaps Bolas decided he could be useful again.

Pia is alive. Because yeah, nobody saw that coming. Rolleyes

Finally, I'm glad they finally ditched that stupid swimsuit thing for Liliana. The dress has always been her best costume.

I don't think it's a romantic relationship, but I think it has very good potential to develop in that direction. Chandra and Nissa literally shared a moment of existence. It doesn't get much more intimate than that. It will be interesting to see how it would happen if Creative decides to push it forward. Recently, their track record amounts to a lot of great ideas with very poor execution. This could easily blow up on us.
