Thanks. That's how I thought it'd work, but I've had people argue against it in the past.

If I have a master transmuter or a card with the blink ability on the battlefield and an opponent targets it with a spell to destroy it, would it be destroyed when it re-enters the battlefield or would it no longer count as the target because it left the battlefield before the spell resolved?

Let's say my opponent casts murder and I use master transmuter's ability to return itself to my hand and then place it back on the battlefield. Would it still be a valid target since it left the battlefield, or would it be the same as playing a separate copy and it wouldn't resolve because it is no longer the target?

I didn't think of it that way, but you're right. In that case, I could deal enough damage to beat him before he'd make me draw out to begin with.
If I play several instant spells all in a row, would they go on the stack if they have no effect on each other or would each one resolve separately, assuming that no one else plays a spell in response?

If you would lose the game with spells on the stack, do the spells resolve or would all of your spells be removed from the stack?

The context in which this came up was this:
I play omniscience and then use it to cast enter the infinite and cast all the burn spells in my library. In response, my opponent casts ancestral recall to make me draw three cards. Would my burn spells still resolve after I draw out or would my spells be removed from the stack due to me drawing out?

My friend and I assumed they'd be removed, but I'd just like to be sure.

If you would be required to discard more cards than your library contains, it works the same way, doesn't it? Or am I wrong? Because that's what was gonna happen.

I was playing a game with my friend and played Psychic Spiral. He would have put his entire library into his graveyard because of Psychic Spiral, but Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre was placed into his graveyard this way. He says he would shuffle his graveyard into his library because of this before Psychic Spiral's ability finished and then he'd finish placing the assigned number of cards into his graveyard after the shuffle. I say my spells ability would have to finish resolving before his would trigger because it goes on the stack and mine was still mid-resolution. Would he still lose from discarding his library or would he shuffle his graveyard back in and be fine?

  • posted a message on Kurkwsh, Onakke Ancient + Moltensteel Dragon
Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient has an ability that states "Whenever you activate an ability of an artifact, if it isn't a mana ability, you may pay 1 red. If you do, copy that ability. You may choose new targets for the copy". Moltensteel Dragon has an ability that can be paid with either 1 fire or 2 life. My question is this: does it still count as a mana ability if you choose to pay life? So if I had Kurkesh out and wanted to use Moltensteel Dragon's ability, could I copy that ability if I chose to pay life rather than mana? Moltensteel Dragon's ability isn't a target ability but just affects itself. But the concept still applies for other artifacts that may have a pay life ability.

  • posted a message on Non-Basic Land for Mono Green EDH/Commander
I'd like some suggestions on some non-basic land cards to go in a mono-green EDH/Commander deck. If possible, I'd like cards that add more than one mana such as Jungle Basin. I'm having trouble finding ones like that, especially since I'm mono colored and EDH/Commander only allows one of each card apart from basic lands. Basically, I just want the most efficient lands I can get.

I'm aware of that much at least. But thank you for making sure. I was just naming that card for the sake of my question.

Thank you. I had to double check because people could argue that it's just targeting creatures with that name. Just trying to save myself a debate in the future.

  • posted a message on Name-Specific Effects and Shroud
Let's say I give a card Shroud and its ability requires that you tap it and it puts a +1/+1 counter on itself. For example, Chronomaton has an ability that says pay 1 colorless and tap to "Put a +1/+1 counter on Chronomaton." It doesn't say target. It named itself by name. Does Shroud prevent this ability from being used or does Shroud not affect it since it doesn't say target? Basically what I'm asking is if it counts as targeting when it says a card name rather than "target creature" and if effects such as shroud would prevent it.
