Unlike the Theros gods, Hazoret pilots vehicles quite well. Isn't there a part-red Vehicles deck in Standard right now?

I invoke the mighty god of Amonkhet to... drive my car! Grin

So the split cards are real... Also, Flameblade adept? That's one freaking pushed one-drop...

The Ket Snek Derpopard (Prowling Serpopard) has the types of two of the gods. We also got some Zombie Jackals. Could that mean that the gods will be more tribal-oriented, like lords for their types + some in-color ability? Oketra - cats, Bird guy - birds (although the only bird we got so far is white), Gatorface - probably zombies rather than crocodiles, Hazoret - jackals and Rhonas for snakes. It would also make the decision behind Scrounging Bandar's types seem less random.

No idea what the card does, but it looks like he's taking up the challenge

Which means he either wants to die, he just wants to deceive Bolas somehow or he isn't aware that the fifth trial will lead to his death...

I'm guessing all the Gatewatch knows about it, and he volunteered to do it because of the indestructibility thing.

That's why I'm not at all invested in him. Nothing will kill him since he is indestructable.

Ob Nixilis almost killed him, so it is not all that impossible. And his mind definitely isn't as indestructible as his body, so Bolas may have some nasty surprise for him...

Why would the will of the gods be so ... imbalanced? Seems like the White god gets its way a lot (6 monowhite cards), as does blue (10 monoblue cards!) and black (5), but then red only has 2 and green doesn't have ANY?

Or did they just line up all the reprints in WUBRG order and put the first 25 in this set (including the BG and WB ones), and the reprints next set will be the rest of the reds and all the greens?

It's because green doesn't have that many oppressive (or, as Maro called them, "mean") cards.

Well the new land art basically confirms which colors they're all associated with. We got cat-face on Plains, bird-man on Island, croco-head on Swamp, and jacks on Mountains, a snake-smiles hanging out in the back of the Forest.

Okay, this is a really stupid thing to get hung up on, but it's driving me nuts. Are cat-face and croco-head ladies? The Jackal is obviously a lady, and the snake and bird are pretty buff, but the other two are less clear.

Also any guesses if these are creatures if they'll have creature type beyond god? Having a god in a cat-tribal EDH or if jackal tribal gets love.

Oketra is the Cat God and confirmed as female.

Croc is... ambiguous. We'll have to find out when they profile him/her/them in-story.

As for the typeline saying something other than "Legendary Creature - God"? Doubt it. Most of them, Croc excepted, appear to just be wearing masks, and in any case Mogis certainly isn't a Minotaur God, et cetera. The real-world Thoth isn't an ibis, he's just a god-in-ibis-shape.

Theros gods didn't get other types because it wouldn't fit on the type line. If these ones aren't enchantment creatures, they could very well have the corresponding types. Especially if we get sentient races associated with them, and with Aven and Jackals, it pretty much seems to be the case.

So far we have seen that Jace is totally useless against undead, Nissa is useless in general and she can't reach her precious leylines on Amonkhet on top of that and Gideon's favorite combat move is to throw himself literally inside the biggest threat (first the gearhulk, now the wurm). I think the chances of some of them kicking the bucket are pretty high...

Maro just confirmed on Blogatog that all gods are getting Invocation versions as well.

Not sure if it already appeared here, but Maro just confirmed all the gods as Invocatons at Blogatog.

Crocgod has rather large pectorals compared to their frame, just sayin'. Unibrow

So does John Cena. Wink In any case maybe the pantheon will appear in today's Magic story update and we'll find out.

Jackalgod makes an appearance (and is female from what Gideon notices). Catgod makes an off screen appearance via light arrow.

From what we see of them, the Amonkhetian Deities appear to be much friendlier to mortals than their Therosian counterparts.

Well they have to be friendly if mortals should have any hope of survival. Remember that the plane itself is trying to kill everything...

Bottom side of the snout. Croc is looking up, not making eye contact with the "camera".

And if CrocGod is a woman she has quite broad shoulders, yet if CrocGod is a man he enjoys wearing nylons quite a lot.

    Another nonbinary character? Grin

The black one isn't faceless, he has crocodile head. He only has his chin up in the pictures so it looks weird.
Also, unrelated to the gods, the thing getting vindicated has a mask similar to Archfiend of Ifnir.

    First reaction: What the heck?
After a while: These are actually pretty awesome!
The only thing that bugs me are those random hieroglyphs in front of some text, it's already hard to read without having to find beginning first.

    -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters.
    Bricks

If we don't get proliferate in the second set of this block, I'll be very pissed/sad.

Kinda hard to imagine actual bricks proliferating...

I might point out that a very interesting 'twist' on Devotion, if they have it in Amonkhet (which would more or less round out the abilities) is for it to count mana symbols on cards in your graveyard.

That would make Cycling (as well as almost all of SOI block) work quite well with it.

I don't think that will happen. It would require too much tracking, especially with Embalm and possibly other ways to get cards out of the yard...
