Oh my, not sure I can fit in another mobile game besides Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Though the fact that it comes from the same guys as MSF, a. k. a. the worse SWGoH ripoff, discourages me a bit...

    6) Davriel Cane will work together with "Wanderer" (whoever it is). Also expect the alliance between Karn, Ob Nixilis and Dack Fayden. And more weird alliances.

wtf? How do this make sense?

Some kind of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" scenario.
After recently regaining his spark I doubt Ob would like Bolas to strip it out of him and Dack is kind of a wildcard... He might be wanting to acquire some artifacts made by Karn or... Steal Karn himself? XD

Still, doesn't Ob Nixilis have a huge hate-boner against the Gatewatch? I find it weird that he would do anything that even remotely aligns with their goals.

what you said made me look at Blackblade Reforged. They could give the ability of the sword to his walker card, but yeah it does not feel white black... getting +1/+1 from lands feels green. Hmm, but the previous holder of the sword.. Korlash, heir to blackblade got p/t from lands.

And the original Dakkon Blackblade, who made the precedent for the ability, is WUB, of all things. Though it is a rather old card from the times when the color pie wasn't taken all that seriously. Also note that Black can care at least about the number of Swamps.
Another option would be simply giving Gideon deathtouch, as that's basically what the blade does in the story. It fits in WB and would make him rather nasty to play against.

maybe we would also get a Gideon with black mana in the cmc, 2WB? because he has the sword now. Smile

And have his trademark ability "become creature until eot" give him p/t equal to the number of lands you control because Blackblade, though it doesn't sound like a fit in WB...

    Not for long...
Well, obviously. IIRC Freyalise and Windgrace are the only ones that survived Apocalypse. Everyone else either dies on Phyrexia or dies when Yawgmoth himself invades Dominaria. Except for Tevesh Szat who... got turned into a bomb? That can't be right, right? Old MtG lore sure was wacky.

Yeah, got turned into a bomb after killing other planeswalkers, which Urza needed as a moral justification for turning him into said bomb. Never understood that logic, if he turned him into the bomb right away, there could have been more survivors...

Chandra is the 2nd most popular planeswalker and doesn’t receive nearly the amount of hate that Jace does. Maybe Jace will sacrifice himself killing Bolas? Another possibility is something similar to how Avacyn trapped Griselbrand in the hellvault. Maybe Jace and/or Liliana will trap Bolas in the eternal sun but they’ll be trapped also. That way we could have stories without Jace, Lily, and Bolas but always revisit them at a later date.

Jace getting killed right after he unlocked his memories of Vryn? Doubtful.

They made some permanent changes to Innistrad though. They doesn't change color distribution but they are changes that should impact the tribal. Like spirits more united with the humans, fewer Angels and vampires etc... Maybe some Spaghetti monster action with Emrakul in the Moon... Who knows.

It's not like they made any changes to the fundamentals, though. We still have the same tribes in the same colors, the same main themes and so on. The overall tone shifted in SOI towards cosmic/body horror, but that's temporary. In fact, they actually unmade an earlier change by killing Avacyn and essentially reverting the Cursemute, so it could be argued that post-SOI Innistrad is actually closer to the original.

After seeing the War of the Spark trailer, I've had this giant desire for the only non-extinguished candle to represent Liliana, with the top one obviously representing Bolas. I would LOVE to see Liliana successfully deceive and betray Bolas as kind of a "hat trick +1" just after she destroyed her Demons.

That would one up Legions as the single worst thing to happen in the entire lore of magic, The only ending that is acceptable for Liliana is death at this point. Her -entire- plot is her own fault including getting captured by Nicol Bolas because she could have left Giselbrand sealed away and killed the other 3 and gotten out of her deal without triggering Nicol Bolas' cause.

Not sure how much of it is her own choice and how much is the Raven Man's manipulation, so blaming it all on her is a bit premature at this point. Which is also a reason why she will likely survive, there's simply too much unfinished stuff.

That would imo be too much of a change to the fundamentals of Ravnica. Besides, we already have Tarkir and Alara as the three-color faction planes, and Maro keeps saying that three-color sets are hard to design, so there are unlikely to be more.
Currently Tarkir is a 2-color 5-tribes plane, unless there is a resurgence of the old clans. Alara only has the shards, while Ravnica could have the wedges.
Remogving the guilds would remove what makes Ravnica... well... Ravnica, but that wouldn't be the first time either: Mirrodin was changed to New Phyrexia, we saw Dominaria in a post apocalyptic state aster the invasion, Lorwyn and Shadowmoor returned to be a single thing ecc...
We will just have to wait and see.

The clans were liked more than the dragons, so any return to Tarkir will likely feature the clans. Enough seeds have been planted to make it possible, notably the frame of the Bolas story from the last core set. And Ravnica is the most popular plane, changing its fundamental characteristic is highly unlikely.

"The stakes could not be higher."
Good joke, considering the plot armor most of the protagonists have. There's no way Wizards would hurt their "most popular" characters too much, not to mention all the hanging plot threads, and the same goes for the most popular plane. Hell, I doubt even Bolas will kick the bucket, they will probably want to reuse such a popular villain.
the most revolutionary thing that will happen (I think) will be that from 10 guilds we will have 5 (by fusing guilds in couples).
This will allow to have single sets for returning to Ravnica and shake up the flavour a little.
For as much as I love the 10 guilds, they were thought for a 3sets-block design and unless they want to spend at least 2 sets every time they return to Ravnica, some of the guilds must go.

That would imo be too much of a change to the fundamentals of Ravnica. Besides, we already have Tarkir and Alara as the three-color faction planes, and Maro keeps saying that three-color sets are hard to design, so there are unlikely to be more.

I agree my favorite e planeswalkers are Garruk, Kiora and Lily. They are multidimensional characters, i think they have a lot of depth compared to other walkers right now. Kiora's only fault is her two cards were developed as "weak" cards.

Id say the most disposable of the planeswalkers right now are Arlinn Kord and Samut and Huatli. Theyre too bound to their homeworld.

They can't kill off Huatli before she teams up with Saheeli to make clockwork dinosaurs!

Not a Moderator (please don't kill me) but I figured we deserved this Thread.
As we are not expecting main plotline stories for Ravnica Allegiance (RNA) set anymore than we did GRN, and because much of the War of the Spark (WAR) set's story will be revealed on paperback and through online stories, I figured we could consolidate them no?

On the main plotline revealed by RNA's cards so far, I realized I was in the right guild for me when my first reaction to Kaya's Ethereal Absolution of the indentured Orzhov spirits was TO REEL BACK IN HORROR!!

It was perhaps the moral thing to do, but not very strategic for the guild's overall wellbeing, Without debt, consequences, and the power that the dead provide for the guild, the Syndicate has lost a lot of power. While I'm all for reforming the guild and making the indentured living and dead's repayment easier and more ennobling, even a shallow understanding of economics points to negative externalities when market forces are so blatantly ignored.

And maybe as someone in another thread pointed out, this was Bolas's plan all along. Mass inflation to increase the chaos of the plane. I believe Kaya is onto something and her ethics bears a point but even ethical action can have dangerous, and negative consequences. Road to hell is paved by good intentions.

And knowing Bolas he knew this would happen if he made Kaya guild master, ghosts would be a problem the eternal would have issues with.

Thinking on it, Amonkhet didn't have any spirits so even the eternal mages might not have magics to deal with them unless Bolas could add in knowledge to them afterwards.

Well, he managed to load all that is there to know about seafaring into Vraska's brain, I think he could load the knowledge of ghosts and how to deal with them into a bunch of zombies...

Ob Nixilis is pretty expendable too, he has nothing going on except a huge hate-boner for the Gatewatch.

Does anyone else think that Jace trapping Azor on Useless Island was foreshadowing? The Gatewatch could definitely trap Bolas on Ravnica, which I think would be hilarious if Bolas regains his ultraspark and then gets stuck. I do think Bolas's plan is to use Ral's Project Lightning Bug to track planeswalkers on Ravnica so he can merge their sparks into one to make him an oldwalker.

No. Just no. Jace pulling some guildpact crap like he did on Azor and trapping Bolas would be an exceptionally lame ending.
