If only we had a way to not lose the game while at negative life.

You might want another fetch or two to turn on fatal push. Then with all the crap going to your graveyard you might as well run tasigur if you're not running logic knot.

My experience with spell burst is that it's great once the game is late and you want to drain your opponent t of any hope, but the rest of the deck does that anyways. Once we hit the late game we're probably going to win so spell burst is a bit win more.

How is our grixis control matchup? With the slight neutering of unfair super fast decks and the printing of fatal push I expect we're going to see a rise in GBx and grixis. Esper bodies GBx no problem but how is it against grixis?

What are people's thoughts on docent of perfection? I don't know if he's any good but I saw him in a list a little while ago and thought he looked good as a win condition. I've been meaning to give him a test run.

Wall of roots is a pretty easy cut after cutting anything that is blatantly useless, but it often stays in my deck against decks where it's never going to block just because there were more pressing cuts and nothing to board in. At a minimum it's a two mana can trip that turns your restoration angel into cantrips. For example, against ad nauseam I cut paths and wraths and leave in walls because I don't mind tapping out turn two in order to dig deeper for the relevant cards in the matchup. Half the deck is going to be chaff against that deck so it might as well be cantripping chaff.

Oh hell no. 26 lands or bust. You'll never cast an Elspeth with 23 lands. I wouldn't put any stock in the list he put there. That's just something he pulled out of his ass. You should take stock in the sentiment of being preboarded for your most common matchup (creature decks) and using the sideboard to deal with anything else.

I'm one of the uw control players he regularly loses to :D. He's a horrible person and it brings me happiness every time I beat him.

I think four condemn is a bit much but I agree that you should just focus on aggro and board heavily for anything else. That's why I believe uw control is the best control deck right now. It bodies creature decks all day long.

If you're running ojutai you should run Minamo, School at Waters Edge. I have never lost after having ojutai plus minamo out. Most people just scoop to it.

Run some telling times to set up the miracle. Also maybe that two mana draw two and shuffle a card back into your deck since it kind of blows in hand.

I ran neo's Planeswalker deck through a couple rounds in tournament practice. I'm five for five so far. People tend to suck in the tournament practice lobby so we'll see how it does in a competitive league. The decks feels pretty smooth though. There was only one match where I felt like I should have lost given the decks performance but won off my opponent being bad.

Narset is there for card advantage and to be a damage sponge. Her loyalty is so high that at minimum she fogs for a turn or two. I ulted her four times in those five games though. It's not that hard to keep the board clear when you're running so much removal and she's just drawing you into more.

Gideon was alright. I expected him to be more of a beating but he was really just okay. He worth his spots certainly. I feel like if we had more token generators he would be great with his emblem. I might try an esper list with Sorin lord of inistrad and solemn visitor along with lingering souls.

That list looks a lot better than the previous UW walkers list. When I was testing it I considered throwing in great hair Gideon to help it's slowness but didn't feel like shelling out for them in modo. SV also seems like something that list really needed. I'll have to run your list through a league later.

    Hello,

I have some questions about some things for the more controlling version of UW. I am basically playing the UW Soorani list from a couple of years ago, but there where some problems, which was too many dead cards in the lategame as Mana Leak and bad card advantage. I switched the Serum Visions for Think Twice first and with Ancestral Vision with the Unbanning. I also added 1-2 Sphinx's Revelation, but I am really unsure about that. The other thing was Mana Leak, which I switched to Rune Snag, but which is still not great. I played a Deprive, but getting behind with Lands was really bad most of the time, so I thought about Logic Knot, but I think one of the Decks strenghts was it's Manabase with only 4 Fetches and many Basics, but that would not work with Logic Knot. I'm not sure either, if it makes Snapcaster much worse and how good the card really is in the lategame, where I found myself loosing some games without able to cast Mana Leak or Rune Snag to counter a spell, but as Counterspell is not legal, I do not see any spell, which gets the job done on Turn 2. Negate would be an option and it counters Liliana, Plating, etc. but I'm really unsure about that. Maybe you have some better ideas than I have Smile

I run two logic knots and they've never rotted in my hand. That card is fantastic and as close to counterspell as we can get in modern.

That deck seems absolutely glacial. I moved Elspeth Suns Champion in my 26 land build to the side because getting to six mana was not a consistent possibility so ugin seems really greedy. I guess three timely reinforcements and Elspeth knight errant stall a bit but i still don't know how that doesn't have a 0 percent win rate against infect and dredge and such.

That said I love super durdley control decks so I'm definitely trying that build out tonight.

Haha yep. That was a waste of 120 play points. The deck was great at making sure nothing happened but could not close the game worth anything. I lost three games with a narset emblem out. I cast Ugin exactly once and had him rot in my hand five times. Ugin didn't even let me win since it was against tron and they just o-stoned the next turn.

Can't say it wasn't fun durdling with planewalkers though.
