While this deck is super fun as is, its outclassed in my competitve (but not cuttroat) meta. I play more multiplayer than 1v1 and want to take this deck up a few notches. While it takes a while to get all the pieces out, Kydele gets out of hand pretty fast so it's actually not a super late game deck (Even less so if Vial is around). Plays like this: Set up the pillow fort and card draw engine. Start draining/pinging people from things like psychosis crawler, bloodchief ascension, Niv Mizzet... etc. Other wincons are the eldrazi and x-spells. While the deck doesn't overly rely on combat the eldrazi also keep shuffling my graveyard into my library. I also don't want this to start looking like a Nekusar style deck.
Hi All, need about 30 cuts. Focusing on big mana from Kydele with an assit from Vial Smasher. Wincons are Eldrazi, punishing opponents for drawing and discarding and a few x-spells. I've got mind's dilation to trigger Vial Smasher on other people's turns. Not looking to build a primarily mill deck, there are finely tuned decks out there that already do that well. My playgroup is competetive but not cutthroat. I'll not likely play all the eldrazi on the list nor all the accel. Other than that I'm not sure what's next. Thanks!
Right now this deck is in limbo. It doesn't have to kill the table but hopefully I won't die first all the time! I don't think I need to make it more controly to have enough time to pillow-fort and get the pricey avatars out. I think there is enough ramp to support the high curve. With so many components its hard to know where to stream line and add power. The other problem is my meta is boadrwipe happy. My other decks have recursion built in. At some point I may give up on avatars as a "tribe", since it's more like a theme at this point, and do a different build altogether but I wanna give this a shot. I made categories based how I see the deck functioning right now. Let me know if you'd prefer I break things into regular categories. Thanks for any advice!
@Mercury01 Did look at avatars which did seem sweet but there aren't many early drops that weren't highly situational
Well, yes. That is a big drawback of the deck, which is why I included lots of charms and other cheap modular answers.
Starting to think I'm going with a somewhat controlly/enchantress build so I might not need early creatures. Also forgot about some of the sorceries you're playing, I'll likely include some of them!
Why not go avatar tribal? There are plenty kg good avatars and then when you swing, she can get the buff too.
However, no matter what you go don't forget that changelings work in all tribes.
Edit, to answer the actual question you asked: Spirits work fine, but I've only usually seen Karador at the helm. I think either way you go it'll be fun to pilot.

Building a Karona deck and am considering elemental or spirit as my tribe. I know elemental has horde of notions but I think it's still a solid option for. Also considering Spirits because I've wanted to make a spirit deck for a while, understanding its not as powerful as some other tribes. Haven't see anyone play either with Karona. Are these viable options?
Speaking of "cute", I was thinking of running vampire hexmage to deal with planeswalkers, run dark depths or deal with anything else on an opponents board. Also, anyone run power conduit?
Haven't tried it yet. Just finished compiling all the steal, etb, and sac effects. Was just asking about non-attack ways to do counters since I'm not sure how aggro this deck wants to be and I don't plan on using enough wizards for sage of fables to be particularly relevant. No matter how I build this it seems like this deck is highly reliant on Marchesa being in play. Kinda figured even if she's not in play I could at least get a bunch of counters on the creatures in the mean time. If she's not in play it the counters also help negate the -1/-1 counters from persist.
Hi all, building my own Marchesa deck. All the discussion here about refining decklists has been really informative and I have read most (but not all) of the pages. I'm wondering if people can give me a general direction as far as how aggro or control to go before I start digging in. Looking to build a deck that can hold its own in a competitive, but not cutthroat playgroup with a meta slanted slightly towards control over hyper ramp or aggro. Let me know if I need to as this question elsewhere, tks for any suggestions!
Anyone use strionic resonator? I feel like between glissa, all the triggered abilities in my deck plus ashnod i think its a good fit but it might be underwhelming. I'd say I'd just play with it and see but I'm not inclined to tutor for it.
