How are you all doing? It's been a while.
Today I plan on going 'Binder Hunting' to a Trading Card Store and was looking to update my Multicolor section as I feel it lacks on power in some colors.
Currently I'm playing 5 cards in each color pair and I feel it's the right number. To support the fixing I've got Signets, Trilands and Painlands (my only rares in my Cube) so that's not an issue.
AZORIUS: (Bounce/Flicker/Fliers) Reflector Mage Cloudblazer Migratory Route Roil Spout Azorius Guildmage (on the watchlist, maybe I'll add Thunderclap Wyvern because there are plenty of fliers in U/W)
Also, have Momentary Blink as a white card
This is the part of building my cube that I've had the most problems with, 5 spots are so difficult to choose!!!
Feel free to post your own Multicolor sections and I'll be happy to help!
Thanks!
My inner-engineer came out, so I've been busy uploading all my Peasant Cube database into an Excel sheet to analyze different aspects of my Cube.
Things I believe are important to look after are:
- Curve in each color (depending of formats each color supports)
- Distribution of spells (% of creatures, instant, sorceries, etc.)
- Creature CMC Curve
1) What other things do you think are important for a Cube to be functional?
2) What CMC is the most "popular" cost among your cube cards? (Mine is 2)
3) What are the CMC's you look for in each color?
I'll tell you what archetype each of my colors supports so you can understand why my curves look the way they do:
Yeah, I mean, an unblockable 1-drop that can be Bonesplitter'd and doesn't die to random pings (Smoldering Werewolf) doesn't sound so bad in a Blue Aggro type of deck.
I don't believe its great, but it's certainly not unplayable.
I'll have to see how it performs on my Cube. Although U-decks tend to skew more onto the controlling type.
In case someone was wondering, here's the Slither Blade list that 3-0'd in the ProTour.
Sadly, it's not the powerhouse it once was and definitely not the must-include. Most regular-sized cubes (300-450 range) are usually better off running other cards.
She's still good though, being a reasonably costed beefy flyer that can play both offense and defense at the same time. I really like playing Serra in slow control decks that can protect her, and I for one will likely never cut her from my cube. I do have a beta version of her, which is basically the best thing ever. Even seeing her in a pack while taking a different card makes me smile every single time.
I feel the same way. Maybe for being the fact that she is the Serra Angel and brings nostalgia I won't cut her off my Cube.
It's alright, but it's outclassed by all the other high end white cards. Fireblast and Fireball are both solid finishers in red. The first for aggro decks and the latter for control.
Which high end cards are you talking about? I would love to know.
I mean, it's a 2 for 1 with the front side appropriately costed and the backside only costing one more. That's pretty good, and probably being underrated here.
It's a bad version of Call of the Herd...kind of. In my opinion the biggest problem is that you can't have both the creature and the token at the same time. Similar to how Treasure Keeper is a lot worse than Bloodbraid Elf. If the ability (can block two creatures) was slightly better I'd still think about playing it, so there is still hope for the other colors. Wouldn't be surprised to see an uncommon version of Call of the Herd in green - apparently they think CotH is too powerful as an uncommon the way it is, they had more than enough chances now to downgrade it. 3/3 for 2G with embalm 3G.
My Cube's got Beast Attack. The triple green is pretty horrible, but I think it does a good job at 2 for 1'ing.

There are some tweaks my Cube still needs, for example, cutting a lot of 3 CMC Creatures in Red. I'll be posting more stuff soon.
Been trying to include more artifacts into the Cube, what's your thoughts on Bonded Construct? Is it playable in aggro?
I don't believe its great, but it's certainly not unplayable.
I'll have to see how it performs on my Cube. Although U-decks tend to skew more onto the controlling type.

That sounds like a game winning play... so disgusting, haha
What's your thought on Æther Mutation?
I feel the same way. Maybe for being the fact that she is the Serra Angel and brings nostalgia I won't cut her off my Cube.
Thanks!
Also, what is your opinion on Zombie Cutthroat? I feel it goes well in Black aggro. (also, I'll consider it a 3-drop)
Didn't see it in the rankings.
Which high end cards are you talking about? I would love to know.
Acidic Soil. Wow, what a great Magic Card. Seems great to push for those final points of damage. Thanks!
