I am pretty sure the arts with the sword in your face is gislesa and the more cartoony art is Bruna.
I think it is unreasonable to expect them to be modern playable, the old cards weren't bad cards, they were splashy cards and they are all quite good in commander.
I wonder if they are also flip angels, other than Sigarda.
Yeah, being modern playable would be a stretch, but it'll take a lot of Wizards to make up for the Last Bruna to me XD. And trust me, White needs help in modern, heh.
Sigarda is actually modern playable, and Gisela isnt, but is a well designed and strong card non the less, for more casual brews. Bruna is toilet paper :*(. Ive always been a White Blue player, and Ive never gotten over the disappointment from Bruna, hahah.
Huh, you seem to be in an ever-growing minority here. From what I can tell, most people here (who lezbi honest are pretty critical) are digging the set. I've heard stuff like, "best set since last innistrad" etc... What's interesting is that wizards isn't even officially in spoiler season yet, meaning more big guns are on the way. Hopefully you will get what you are looking for then.

I played a *ton* of Standard during Innistrad/Phrex and Innistrad/RtR(It was great), and these cards dont get *close* to reaching those levels(minus the new Zombie). I really like the new zombie XD. But it is early like you said, but after a few very disappointing sets, Ive been feeling Wizards has lost their creative talent(For fun cards).
If Wizards makes up for the last Bruna and makes a new Modern Playable one, we'll be more then good though, hahah(#Make W/U Midrange Playable Again 2016).

I would be hyped about this set if I didnt think most of these cards will end up being duds.
But based on what ive seen, I think this set is going to be another *huge* disappointment for me(I loved the last innistrad set with a passion)
I'd kill to have the people who did the 1st Innistrad do this one as well, they knew how to design some awesome/fun cards.
