the interaction cards are what makes the deck good
inquisition of kozilek
thoughtseize
fatal push
smallpox
liliana
and to a lesser extent funeral charm
you can add any decent win condition and the deck will function and be good, smallpox makes demands in that regard (no goyf, confidant, death shadow, etc)
the cards that make this deck 8rack and not grixis death shadow or jund or bw pox are:
ravens crime
wrench mind
both racks
and that last part its the most interchangable, finding a group of win conditions that work well with smallpox its what makes 8rack and bw pox worht trying over the other decks with the same interaction package
the new bw pox list is making results because it has the interactive cards already mentioned and a group of win conditions that work well with smallpox, but its not clear to me if its better or not than 8 rack. lingering souls its the selling point, but bloodghast leaves a lot to desire as a creature at the battle field
i dont think you can mix racks and creatures as the racks need support in the form of mass discard (ravens crime/wrench mind), but as far as creatures go you can play any combination that works well with smallpox and the deck will funcion and be good
myth realized, young pyromancer, lingering souls, sprout swarm, bitterblossom are some examples
i know this is the 8 rack forum but in my opinion experimenting with the win conditions might be the best way to improve the deck other than having the doom blade vs smother kind of discussions. but maybe i am to optimistic because the painless + mutavault mana base its awesome and changing it to a fetch+shock manabase in order to "improve" the win conditions might not be a good move
its less eficient than the other cards in the deck, but its like a rack that helps activate itself
maybe it fits better in a more midrange version with less racks (since more than 8 might be to many), less discard and more ways to control the board and win behind lili + torment and the remaining racks
im playing with 2 flaying tendrils and 1 night of souls betrayal, so i will have to at least think about it
i dont like damnation because 4 mana costing cards dont play well with ravens crime, smallpox and lili. the one of night of souls betrayal gets the pass for me because it can be a softlock agaisnt the swarm decks that we are soft to
i have not tested hazoret yet but she she might be what the deck needs, i dont think its win more because the linear decks are so consistent and redundant that you cant control them with good generic answers, you can only buy time.
It may just just been the lingering souls kicking ass. I REALLY missed the red though, and was frustrated by the lack of it. I wasn't thrilled with 3x LOTV either. LOTV is without a doubt a better card than LTLH, but I think HOPE fits the deck better, since it fixes our issue with small creatures and removal heavy decks not exiling.
glad to see more people with the same conclusions as mine, i tried to tell that like 10 pages ago
also, LTLH its better than LOTV at grinding card advantage against decks with a lot of removal
and finaly, i think LOTV its not that good against decks where LTLH its bad, i mean against combo you still need to draw target discard, LOTV alone its not enough
collective brutality its great, but i think its to weak in the maindeck
abrupt decay its not at its best right now. fatal push, terminate and kolaghan's command cover most of the needs, i still would play 1 pulse and maybe 1 decay
yeah, maybe the online meta has fully adopted death shadow decks and paper tournaments are not there yet (the team gp might be an exception due to the unified thing)
cuting all 4 bolts its a bold move, but jund its tier 2 right now in a format with a lot of tier 1 decks. you have to try something different to move to tier 1 again

the fifth looting its suposed to be a fatal push
personaly i prefer lotleth troll instead of street wraith

just an idea
with dredge and living end on the rise i moved up to 4 leyline and 2 spellbomb, those decks dont need cards in hand in order to funcion

having 4 fatal push main and death shadow in the side helps
the burn player cant hold spells to burn you from 9 to 0 to avoid making the shadow big because we are playing to much discard
also being on the draw helps a lot, it denies him to many cards to even threaten lethal damage
you trade at the beginning and when the dust settles its a lava axe. how many times did you lost a topdeck war? the card helps in that sense

2 jund in the top 4, one of them ended up winning the event
both lists without lightning bolts, maybe its the way to adapt
