And this here is exactly why Bolas can't possibly win, or the rest of Magic will just be a series of postcard sets called 'Bolas visits Ixalan', 'Bolas visits Innistrad', 'Bolas visits Kaladesh' etc., each featuring a PW card called 'Bolas - God of [plane]', with art depicting him laughing maniacly against an assortment of backgrounds. -

I like the set symbol
I mean do I lie? Even recently, Masters 25 was getting dragged and conveniently WOTC themselves sure it wasn't the American Branch just leak most of the cards for Dominaria.
Set Symbol does look nice and hopefully we got some power now that the latest degenerate artifact format is phasing out. -

MY ARIXMETHES ARRIVING AT LONG LAST!!!!! HELL YES IT'S A SLUMBERING ISLE, THIS DAMN THING SLUMBERED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THEROS BLOCK AND THE LAST FOUR YEARS OF MY MTG LIFE
But the slumber counters have been removed! I HAVE CAST MY 5TH SPELL AT LAST AND HE HAS APPEARED!
The moment I saw this, I was so stunned, I could have sworn this was a prank. LITERALLY TREMBLING AS I TYPE THIS!
omgomgogmgomgomgomg
omThassa
This literally happened. I'm so stunned but it literally finally did at long freaking last. I don't even know how to react!
I destroyed these forums, Blogatog, Reddit, Youtube comments, emails, survey comments, all of it in my path to get here. I would have interrupted Trump and Kim Jong Un to demand this card. I have been on a MISSION AND TODAY... TODAY GENTLEMEN! WE DINE IN ARIXMETHES!!!!
YES this is the Theros Atlantis from the novels. And the Lost City itself, all in one. It's one of my absolute favorite MTG Legends. I thought we would have to return to Theros to get this card, but HERE HE IS!!! I really do believe Ken Nagle and Gavin really did look online for what we wanted. This approach has been amazing and if you notice, it has yielded some of the most impressive, unique and Vorthos-friendly cards in these products that have been celebrated the most!
Thassa'lmighty I'm having palpitations. Not only did I open this thread to the ACTUAL CARD. Like not only did this ACTUALLY HAPPEN, But the design is AMAZING! It's really unique, and truly captures the lore of this mighty and elusive creature. I love the art too - it's exactly as I had imagined it (although perhaps more so at sunset, but I love getting bright, balmy Greek beach sunshine art all the same!) with the whole visible isle but Arixmethes partly visible beneath the sea surface. And who doesn't admire scale boats! The island itself even reminds me of Santorini, the real-world island that was once Atlantis. My only gripe is the city itself should have been larger and more prominent (see the new Temple of the False God) but honestly, the art captures so much perfectly that this is only minor.
I was surprised a bit to see him Simic, but part of me anticipated he may be. While it's awkward he gives more devotion to Kruphix than Thassa, the character always kinda did feel Simic, being a sea monster land. THEY EVEN GOT THE STATS CORRECT!!!! And it is so funny and cool that he is a bit similar to Thing In the Ice and the enchantment lands from Ixalan, but in a different and unique way. Trample or Hexproof would have been ideal, but I imagine Trample is awkward on something that immediately becomes a Land. Plus who needs trample when I WHELMING WAVE and smash with this. I'd have given him Hexproof, but frankly, they've gotten so much right with this card, I have nothing to do but to celebrate and finally put my crusade to rest and enjoy all the commanders games I am going to have with ARIXMETHES!
So this finally solidifies my Sea Monster deck as Simic and I am not complaining at all. I will use Time of Need to tutor Thassa and have them both on the field. JUST THAT IS VICTORY ENOUGH FOR ME.
We have Polukranos
We have Arixmethes
Thraxes left and we will have ALL THE PETS OF THE GODS WOTC I forgive all of your transgressions! -Thassa
I'll behave and be positive now.
You care way too much about small things, but get no judgement from me. I never hate on someone for being happy. You do you, mate. -

Tiro of Meletis posted a message on Arixmethes, Slumbering IsleI want to tell you guys my MTG story.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
For 12 years I played Yugioh. Got bullied in school for it of course, but stood by my hobby. As a teenager when everyone was out being immature and lying to get into parties with alcohol, I was waiting tables and buying their cards and looking forward to playing once a week with my casual deck. I loved this deck called Ice Barrier, that was designed so horribly (as all Yugioh cards are) but certain cards in the deck were the most powerful of all, so they were like $50+ each while the deck itself was terrible. I collected them against all this senseless competition, bought all these boxes of their sets to get them (Konami knows how rip you with what you love to get your money) only for them to get banned. And all throughout that time, I was in contact with Konami to just support the deck enough to survive ONE OR TWO TURNS. Every set they'd release like a $100 secret rare everyone wanted in the ONE viable, competitive format Yugioh has, and the rest would be absolute trash just to sell easy packs off the backs of Spikes. I was so upset we never got any legitimate cards for supporting anything else. Then those major cards would get banned and people would say "well at least this isn't MTG with set rotation" and I'm here staring at them lose hundreds of dollars a year like I did from power creep and the banlist and thought.... uhhh... your deck literally rotated out. There was no casual crowd, I kept losing money paying to just play my unsupported Vorthos-like deck (if there's no prize, no one in YGO will bother to play against you, there is no "fun"). I eventually saw that I was wasting my life and time on something that was causing me more problems than fun. My friend showed me some Innistrad Geists and Jace, Memory Adept and I immediately jumped ship. When I discovered Commander, I knew I was sold on MTG as a hobby for good. So many people begged Konami for years to support the deck I was playing and they never did, not even a single COMMON card.
Just look at the difference. In MTG, they actually listen to what we want. Theros was years ago and here he is, an Arixmethes card. All because we asked. This highlights the fact that MTG really was the game for me all along. -

Notably, he states that this is the case if an Eternal does it, which may mean that if something does it, it may me possible for the PW to survive.
Also full disclosure, I didn't like Domri much either. >_>

Don't have the link on me right now but MaRo confirmed on Blogatog that Adapt was the 'returning' mechanic by virtue of being tweaked Monstrosity. Knowing this, it seems that Azorius will get an entirely new mechanic.

I'm honestly more annoyed at the fact that they swore off of unique promo cards being unobtainable except for specific events like this after the Nalathni Dragon fiasco, and yet here we are.

MaRo said on Blogatog that at the moment it's possible to make minute changes to this year's fall set. Ferocidon likely wasn't as souped-up as it is now, but they had time to add small stuff (maybe the damage per creature etb clause, which does indeed stop Cat Blink in its tracks).

I don't know how it got started, but while Storm Crow is in an objective, non-meme-y fashion a card that is not very good (see Seacoast Drake), people decide to look up all the possible 'benefits' it could offer in a way to turn its badness into awesomeness.
Gut Shot? That's cute. 20 turn clock! Evasive damage! Greatest card advantage machine ever, because for the price of 1 Jace you can get 100 Storm Crows! Pitches to Force of Will! Can wield Jitte!
It doesn't necessarily have to really be sensible, but through its own twisted logic, a card that was so bad became the card that is so good. It's all about making fun of the fact that yes, it's not really a good card, by going for these delusions of grandeur.
