Hey guys, I have been out of the game for quite a while now looking to jump back into it. The last tournament I played in was an extended PTQ where I top 8'd with a Zoo deck in early 2010. From memory the list was
Just wondering if I could get help on updating the list and what sort of a sideboard would be considered if going to a tournament for the first time and if possible how certain match ups play out. Thanks
This is what im testing atm and im still working on a SB plan.
Your creature list is identical to mine. Except i now use 4 Martyr of Ashes and 3 Spark Elemental instead of Lightning Serpent because of the aggro in my area. I was wondering if anyone is having problems with Riftsweeper as it is so annoying to have a Gargadon shuffled into your library with half of its counters gone.
Pickles isnt really "pickles" without Vesuvan Shapeshifter. IMHO, since ive been playing this deck for about 5 months now, if you dont have Shifter, you dont have the deck. I mean its how we win against control, how we help the aggro match, and how we absolutely own the mirror, which is a very hard match indeed. I would defnitely look into getting 4 of these if you have none, as they arent really an expensive rare(about 5 or 6 on ebay), and if you cant get them my best advice would be to give the deck up.
LOL I actually forgot to put the Shifters in I already have a playset of them. Got them for around $12 for the playset when it just came out. And yes, without the Shapeshifters there wouldn't be much reason for playing the deck.
Where are the Shapeshifters and Duals?? I don't see why you would play Brine Elemental and Hermit if you play no Shapeshifter.
If you can't get Breeding Pools and Coasts, you should probaly just play Mono U. That way you only need 2 rares in the deck (Teferi and Shapeshifter)
Also some Trickbinds would be very good SB against projectX and Storm.
Crap i forgot the Shapeshifters, I'll fix it up right away. I can get my hands on Breeding Pool and Yavimaya Coast it's just i was giving a rough indication on how many blue and green sources to use.
Hey guys i was wondering if something like this could work. If you guys can do the testing with this that would be great! I would really want to take something like this, this Friday. The only time i actually get to play magic is at FNM. Keep in mind this is something off the top of my head. Thanks
Shouldn't Ghitu Encampment have a place in this deck for those situations where Wrath of God or Damnation and your next few draws have no creatures in them but I was thinking that 4 cip lands is a bit too much.
Keldon Magaliths are all you need. Last week i was playing my Dralnu deck against a RDW with white splash for Lightning Helix and flying Skyknight guy (can't remember name) anyway i had stabalised with him being Hellbent with a Megaliths in play. I was on 7 and him 17 after being hit by my Teferi Mage of Zhalfir and I was just destroying/countering everything he threw at me. It looked like i was going to win the race, then he drew a SECOND Megaliths and i knew that was game.
Conclusion is Ghitu Encampment is worse than Keldon Magaliths as it is prone to more removal as there is a heap of them these days at instant speed.
Hey guys i need help to make my decks as competitive as it can be post tenth. I have two versions, Gargadon and non Gargadon. I would also like some help with a sideboard. I am able to accomodate a green splash as i have Karplusan Forest on hand.
I feel that at the very least, MonoGreenAggro can get away with a 20-20-20 build.
When i say that, i usually like to explain by saying "1/2 your mana dorks don't count." It's Like the 3/5ths compromise of old. When i count spells, I want atleast 20 usable creatures. I usually count Birds of paradise as a creature and Llanowar Elves as not. Now, I know that the elf will be swinging, too, but it keeps the confusion down on what creatures are really "Pumpable"
This is basicly the build I've ran for forever...It does pretty well, though i like haste better
Thanks for the input guys, might be changing my deck to something similar to jake's but i will be using Ohran Viper as i have spent soo much on it. However i might use hunter's snow lands for mouth of ronom but not scrying sheets seeing as how i usually have don't have 3 mana open.
