What do you think about the new spoiled card “Old-growth troll” ?
It could replace steel leaf champions in 3 cmc slot?
Steel leaf is more true to the core strategy of the deck, getting your opponent dead.
also the 5 power lets you actually kill an opposing reality smasher. this was huge upgrade about it vs Baloth.
Looks like we have a new card Sylvan Anthem
Thoughts?
Not good enough. This is primarily good only when you have the time to build wide board and your opponent also doesn't have the removal to whittle it down, so kinda rare (mostly happens vs dredge, and non red/black tribal strats).
if you cast it turn two, you effectively only added .5power/mana to the board, turn 3, only 1-1.5pwr/mana etc.
If the opponent doesn't have removal youre probably against a deck you needs to race and kill by turn 3/4.
if they have removal, youre looking to kill by turn 5-6, and the anthem suffers as well. Likely on average only adding 1.5 dmg per mana spent.
So it looks like we will be getting a GGG Legendary in eldrane. This could be huge! Rhonas was almost playable and Steel Leaf has already proven itself.
Imagine the potential of steel leaf only that it can have a bigger power budget as a lendary. Fingers crossed we might be getting a 1x or 2x upgrade.
Had a great FNM. Went 4-0 beating UW control, Humans, Eldrazi Tron, and Hollow.
Hexdrinker keeps doing so so much work.
On another note. I've been testing out blooming marshes for the last few months.
My conclusion is that they are actually a net negative to the deck. It's too bad bought a foil playset but I'm sure I can find another home for them.
And I can't stress enough how lucky I was in deciding to pick up a playset of Hexdrinker three days ago. The price has spiked more than ten bucks a card since then... Yikes!
Oh I hear you! I picked up a playset of non foils at release for $7 each. Then just bit the bullet and also bought foil playset for 32$ each. It's crazy how much more they are now. The card is super legit though. Just as a 4/4 pro instant for four is game winning is a few match ups. The instalment payment plan is also just gravy given our low land count/almost 0 card draw/filtering .
Does Veil of Summer stop the Cryptic "tap all" mode? Nowhere does that mode say "target".
Sadly, not, even if they go counter target spell and tap your team, it will still tap the team as veil only makes spells uncounterable and doesn't give them hexproof on the stack
Down on: Damping Sphere
Storm has not seen much play in while, and for the time being Tron isnt very prevalent due to all the turn 2/3 decks running rampant.
its not about budget, it never has been about budget, the origins of this deck thread was about developing competitive decks.
I own play sets of all the fetches so thats not what has been stoping me from playing them.
what do you think about a black splash with Winding Constrictor, he should work well with hexdrinker, avatar of the resolute and the new barkhide troll.
also the ability can stack if we have more the one on the battlefield...
Adding a second colour is not free(phyrexian mana doesnt count), The cornerstone of Green stompy is pain free mana base + aspect of hydra. That is our core advantage over other decks.
Winding constrictor means you now must guarantee black on turn 2. If you are going to warp the mana base to achieve that then you can do much more powerful things with G/B available and it only makes sense to go down that path since all the upfront cost has been paid. like compliment our threats with cheap discard since control is problem for the deck, or add cheap black removal since tribal strategies are a losing match up too. congrats you are now playing Rock.
also @tokaok with your current build your going to take more damage from fetching and shocking yourself that would would from just paying the 4 life from dismember, with 15 mb black sources you might as well run push as your mb removal and sb assassin trophy as a catch all. also Abrupt Decay is pretty solid.
I Agree, as i said at the begining of that post you are refering too, im dont think fetches are worth it in stompy at the moment. narnam is good, but not good enough for all work required to warp for it. perhaps next time revolt shows up and we get another comparable one drop
Also, I'm running a deck with 8 fetches for 4 Narnam Renegade. My other 1-drops are a playset of Dryad Militant and Experiment One. I would really like to implement Hexdrinker into my deck, but I'm not sure what to cut. I'm thinking about a 2/2 split with Renegade, what do you guys think? Experiment One still seems very strong, and I am not going to cut Dryad Militant for obvious reasons.
I'll be upfront with my personal bias against Narnam renegade. Up to now I haven't felt the opportunity cost was worth it for a card you will only see about 45% of games. But with the addition of Barkhide troll I am definitely a bit more open to giving it a try in a leaner shell eschewing 3 drops

You are wrong, Pithing needle does stop infinite combo.
High on:
Pithing Needle
Hits most of the fast turn 2/3 win decks, Altar of dementia, Griselbrand, Devoted druid, inkmoth nexus,Pendelhaven giver of runes, plus hits most threats in UW control Celestial Colonnade + walkers
Down on:
Damping Sphere
Storm has not seen much play in while, and for the time being Tron isnt very prevalent due to all the turn 2/3 decks running rampant.
Nissa, Voice of Zendikar
Apart from U/W, you barely see any midrange/control decks around.
