Typically if I'm expecting GY hate I side in some combo of Natures Claim and Chain of Vapor. Cool, you Mull to 3 and play leyline. If I go turn 1, land chain, or claim I just win now. Or, lets say I don't have them in my opening hand. Dredge has so many draw 2 pitch 2 that you can essentially try to draw into one as well.
I might brew a Gitrog dredge deck with Blasting Station and Narcomoeba Just toss a shuffle effect like Emrakul in the deck and it goes infinite, like four horsemen.
My idea is with the Wear and Tears it can help against Boggles and affinity, though if you splash green MD Destructive Revelry You also get access to Stony silence. The main thing is with the Boros charm it gives you an out against board wipes, or can give you a quick kill with a Piledriver. You can also use Deflecting palm, it's a little niche but I've used it in my Norin deck against infect and boggles for serious blowouts.
But again, I was just wondering, since I have the lands from Norin that I could be using.
I also understand that putting green also allows the sideboard to deal with allot of threats as well.
You can also put in Ranger of Eos (If you want a 4 drop), as well as Thalia. I've experimented with white, it's not bad for sideboard, but mainboard green and black are just better.
I wouldn't want a 4 drop in the deck, I think that it would end up much too slow. As for Thalia, I feel she is better in legacy. Since she makes all their cantrips 2 and storm is a much better deck than it is in modern
Hey guys, I'm thinking of picking up this deck, I used to play goblins in legacy a while ago (like 6 years ago). Has anyone considered a white splash so the sideboard has more answers? We could sideboard things like Boros Charm and rest in peace. Just bringing this up because I don't mind Maindeck running the mono red version with fetches and some Sacred Foundry and SB having all the white utility.
The fakes are getting to the point where it's hard to tell if they're real or not just from the image.
See if the vendor is willing to do a light test for it. Or if you have a Snapcaster Mage to bring to compare it to.
If he starts making a fuss, just explain that you've gotten fakes before in the past and you can never be too sure.
ok tnx m8. I think that a uw midrage list is the right for me as it has may of the cards i like to play plus it can be decent vs creature base decks and combo... Btw the uw midrange primer is kind of dead...
I personally like the midrange version, but the shell is so versitile you can always cut a couple things and jam in more counters. If I wanted a more control list I would be splashing red for UWr control with snaps, but I don't want to buy them.
As for the Primer for UWx Midrange I feel like both that primer and this one should be merged. But I'm bad at writing up articles and such. My friend who lives on the floor above me wrote up the Living end primer, but he's been playing that deck since Blazing shoal was banned.
hi m8 i always conseder my self a b/w magic player and i play a lot in magic workstation with this list http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=11649&d=266414&f=MO . I really love this deck and i won around the 70% of the games.. my problem tho is taht in order to build it i have to sell my soul :P. So is there any way that i can built a similar working deck without x4 jaces and x4 snapcasters cause those 8 cards cost like 600$ (what a joke?). I mean can i replace them with something?????
In an ojutai's command list sadly you need the jaces & snap. However in Sun titan lists you don't need either of them and you can run resto angel (which you probably like since it's your avatar) with kitchen finks/blade splicer.
First tnx for the reply! I know the titan/emeria list but i dont think that has the same playsryle as the list i post. I titan list is a more value cratures with some blue speels for support and the list i put is pure control in my opinion, but i think that is indeed a bbetter soloution to play a full version of the titan list rather than a budget version(worst) of the control one... Is the titan deck a good one tho? i dont know if it perfoms well i havent seen this deck for ages....!!
The titan list works well, but I always felt it was soft to GY hate. For example it makes Rest in Piece allot worse to board in. I've been enjoying more of a UW Midrange with a Elspeth Sun's Champion and Gideon Finish. Though, I might try Avacyn once I get my hands on her.
Yeah maybe the midrange list is even better, but thisone is even less controllish.. :/ Also i cant find a proper midrange list cause one from the other are very different plus most of them splash for red... can u post ur midrange decklist (btw i really love elspeth and gideon and resto and the midrange runn all of them even tho i think elspeth is a bit slow...)
The reason I like Elspeth in My list, is because she lands and is instantly a threat, pumping out 3 1/1's for blockers by itself is really good. Her wraths don't touch anything you play typically, and her final wins the game. In my opinion she has the same invevitablity as Sun Titan, but doesn't look at your GY for things.
You can make a nice Sun Titan list no problem, I just prefer to use Elspeth as my 6 drop. Once I get home from work I'll work on Posting my list. I have to stop by the card shop and see if they got in the last Colonnade I need.

That's fine. I mean, If I owned 2-3 Runed Halo I would be running them over the Mage's anyway. It was more just offering alternatives to people who don't own any Halo's. Plus, I can't be angry at someone who also plays RW Norin
I really like membrane because it does a decent job of stopping big eldrazi and stompy creatures.
Scepter is just a thought because it gives a good tempo advantage even if you don't lock with it.
I don't like Cathedral membrane because,
1.) It can be lightning bolted, which isn't something that I would like from a wall.
2.) It will really only kill one Eldrazi creature it blocks.
If it could block say, 2 creatures it would be pretty cool and worth consideration. As it stands, what would you be taking out of the deck to put them in.
For The Scepter, I don't feel like it's a tempo advantage, I think it's more of a disadvantage really. Since you have to spend a turn setting it up. If Modern had orim's Chant then maybe? But you really have to build your deck around it.
I love Meddling Mage, it's one of those cards I wish I could use. But the truth is, no...the effect isn't similar. Halo is far better.
Mage is a better effect on the play.
The effects are similar in that they both shut down a single card, but one is more proactive, the other is reactive. Mage Shuts down the card before it enters, Halo can shut it down if it is in play. For this reason Halo is more Versatile. But if the card is in the opponents hand and they can't remove mage, mage is better.
Halo is also useless against countermagic.
And various cards that might wreck you without targeting you, like Living end. But that's if they don't have the beast within.
However, Mage can't stop something already in play, unless it's by blocking. It is also MUCH easier to remove.
Just try out the two cards yourself and you'll see. Again, as a Mage lover, I have to admit it's not even close. Halo can be maindeck material, Mage doesn't even make the cut as a sideboard card.
It's hard to even think of a single MU where Mage is better than Halo.
Against Ad Nauseum Mage would be better, since they don't run allot of removal and most of their hate for mage also hits Halo, but you can beat while they look. You can also call Ad nauseum in the matchup instead of lightning storm if you want to do that as well.
Against living end Mage would also be better, as you can call living end. So when they cascade they can't cast the living end. Whereas with runed halo in the matchup you're forced to call one of their creatures, which won't hinder them as much. Halo will also die to the same removal in this matchup than Mage, beast within.
It's really not that hard to see the pros and cons or each card. Like I said, mage is a proactive card, Halo is reactive.
Edit: Runed Halo IS good, it's a fantastic card. But saying Halo is strictly better than mage in evey matchup is wrong.
2 shattering spree
3 wear//Tear
3 boros charm
1 relic of progenitus
2 stony silence
And maybe up to two flex slots.
