Jace won't be legal for 2 weeks (after the gps coming up) and will be reprinted 2 weeks after that.
As the dude said, waiting a little while after the reprint is good. Its very likely we'll see a big second wave of printing like we did mm3/unstable/others, which may help keep the prices down further.
If you don't own jaces, you might have a rough couple weeks while a lot of other people have jaces, but it shouldn't be too big of a deal, honestly. A lot of people may be trying to take advantage of the jace hype and play cards/decks good against him, so by not having him you may be inadvertently dodging some hate.

Man you guys are making me feel better. Now im excited instead of worried again

I just traded for cryptics, bought 2 snaps, 2 search for azcantas, 4 spreading, 2 detention sphere, 4 flooded strands, 4 celestials and some other stuff for this deck. Should i continue finishing off the deck with the cheaper plainswalkers and play it until jace becomes cheaper? I was so excited to try this dec. But now im a tad worried. I also wonder if this deck would want 4 jaces. The gideons seem to have more of a board impact. Jtms seems to be great against uninteract non aggro decks but that currently doesnt seem to be the meta. Also could 1 or 2 be ok? Thanks for any thoughts

The expensive pieces you listed are going to be used in ANY UWx control deck you want to try so there is no lost money there, and a lot of the spells that alter decks are pretty cheap, just the core pieces are pricey. I can't imagine any deck other than some miracles brew would want 4 JTMS, I think in the current iteration of UW we would want 2 since we still have cryptics, verdicts to fight for the 4 mana slot.

As far as fighting against Jace I'd look at increasing negate numbers as well as d-sphere to compensate for other control decks playing our new overlord. Pithing Needle in the sideboard would be straight gas if you're not willing/able to shell out for JTMS. Jace is also pretty weak to the gideon walkers that see play in UW lists so haveing Gideon of the trials and Gideon Ally I'd put those in and just beat down on JTMS while also affecting the board against aggro decks trying to prey on people.

If you don't own JTMS right now, DO NOT BUY until after its reprinted in A25 and honestly even a month after the reprint. If you look at any of the maters sets price histories the major cards like Noble Hierarch, Fetchlands, Tarmogoyf, etc.. drop over the course of a month or two til they bottom out, then slowly creep back up.

I like it. Im going to stick with it. Sick of linear decks anywaY (i play tron, DnT and burn normally). Uw should be a breath of fresh air

Whatever happened to GW tron? I thought that was gonna be the hot tron deck forever. Path deals with more than fatal. And running sideboard rest in peace as at least a three of shuts down dredge and storm but also makes life sad for deaths shadow. Not to mention you get all the good sideboard cards You also get to run the best land of all time, horizon canopy. Hmmmm I may have to run it at my lgs soon.

How does Gx Tron sideboard against UWR geist/queller? What cards do you side out - what do you side in typically?

If you are running thragtusk (and you should be) bring however many you have in. If you run orbs of warding or witchbane orb, those tend to be decent. Land destruction for colonnades is a safe bet. Just consider they attempt to turn into a burn deck to close the game out quickly because you are going to win virtually any game that goes long once you have tron

It's worth testing at least. Having a colorless hand refill stapled to a tutorable big body is not a bad idea for control matchups, which are getting a lot more popular nowadays. Though I wouldn't count on it resolving, and would run it strictly for the draw ability.

Yes my sentiments exactly. If you were running it, would you run the old version due to his graveyard shuffling ability. Since you are not counting on him to resolve anyway? I guess it also would have some implications vs lantern

Im running mono green for more consistancy and more focus on threats since there a lot of counterspells out there. I playtested emrakul the promised end last night and enjoyed her, although her ability didnt do much (I think the situations were the issue not her). She is almost always 10 mana which is great. I am thinking however kozilek would be a better addition to draw cards and replenish threats. Im up in the air about which one however. I am leaning towards the new one since you can potentially draw more cards and protect itself from the billions of paths out there with its ability. What do you guys think?

Since when does GW Tron play Horizon Canopy? My last info was 3/1 on Razorverge Thicket/Brushland? Playing 4 lands that are basically worse painlands does not seem appealing to me.

I am aware that they can cycle away for a mana but we already have 8 eggs and 4 stirrings to find our threats...?

Yes but in most games the cycling ability does end up having quite a bit relevance. I really like them in tron, but you don't need to use them. Also I don't think there is a point to having 3 fastlands in any tron deck. Just doesn't have a good flow Imo and if you have a shot at tron in the first few turns you usually aren't playing a colored land till later on in the game (since you have 8 colored mana rocks) so having the majority of your dual colored lands come into play tapped can be quite detrimental. I prefer to run more basics or more painlands (for example in GB I run 1 Blooming Marsh, 2 Llanawar Wastes as my dual lands). That of course is my personal opinion but I would say test canopies out online or at fnm just to see before you write them off Smile

I don't consider Humans a bad matchup for the GB variant at all, pretty even but most of my wins come from Ugin of course. Not sure about tokens as I only play in paper. While playing GB Tron, I believe a few of the top decks (E-Tron, GDS, BGx, etc.) are quite good matches for us. Made mincemeat of the aforementioned decks in tonight's tourney but lost against Affinity in Round 1: I blanked on a Stirring after O-Stoning his board and proceed to draw seven lands+nonaction cards in a row. In retrospect I oversideboarded, so if anyone can offer some insight into this matchup I would appreciate it.

I'm not saying its a particularly bad matchup. I'm just saying as a deck it annoys me and it seems like everyone on mtgo is playing it lol

I'm getting so sick of Humans, company decks and that new mardu token shenanigans going around on mtgo, I'm almost voting we all got back to GR until we hate them out of the meta, kozilek's return ftw!!! GB is the tron de jour, and is probably the best but I have been having so much fun with mono green. I saw a list with the flex slots being 3x Wall of Roots and 2x Explore. It sounds bonkers but it is the worlds most consistent tron. It runs 2xGQ and 2x Sanctum with 4 forests and the 12 tron lands. Also now that horizon canopies and groves are so down I bought four of each so I know have all trons in paper :)(and if you like testing all variants now is the perfect time). Happy Tronning!

Hey Guys, I just had a hilarious experience while playing a deck. It gave me the idea to post a thread of the funniest ways you lost a game/match due to your own ineptitude (Can be paper or MTGO). Post your funny story below so we can all revel in the hilarity!!

    My story is as follows:

Playing ad nauseum in friendly modern league. New to the deck, but had a few drinks, feeling good! Lost game one to blue white taking turns. Game 2 have 2 lotus bloom suspended turn one on the play. Get to the turn where they're cast with phyrexian unlife in play, get everything going with ad nauseam no opposition from the opponent who hasn't cast a spell yet. Somehow I target myself with lightning storm and keep clicking no new targets.I got myself to 37 poison counters!!!! Holla!

If you have a rock and roll story like me share, its better to laugh than to cry :):):)

i made the deck the way you are stating, how the f*** does this deck ever win, I have never drawn a hand that resembles anything close to what you are stating I have played 10 matches. I played against someone with this deck earlier and could not belivee how amazing it was. is there an updated list that acutally wins?

I would take out Skullcrack instead of Rift Bolt against Shadow (efficiency and delayed burn is probably better than what amounts to a Lightning Strike), but the overall strategy is sound.

A lot of shadow decks run collective brutality from the side

Here's my Boros Burn list, don't think it gets much better than this!

((I doubt Wizards will ever print another R card as strong / stronger than Lightning Bolt))

I'm running the same with one less fetch and one more mountain and 2 bridges in the board instead of exquisite and the molten. Its fun. Still not sure if I could lose anything to get lavamancer in. But I'm trying to figure it out. Thinking its the deck I will be bringing to a 10k tomorrow
