Because our forum has the cure for cancer and this place doesn't Grin

We don't NEED the cure like your forum does. Spam infraction.

All I will say is cake + eat it too; now I will take my leave of this thread, I gots no more to say.

The "cake" is currently under one set of rules, which I abide by. He chose not to. That is not my issue.

I think the irony is that the other dude got suspended, but that's just me.

I'll give rianalnn the benefit of the doubt and assume that's what he meant.

There are different types of idiocy. I'll admit that there is irony in this situation; but ONLY if you haven't been able to comprehend what I'm getting at. You are truly a fool of the highest order if you can't see the difference in this instance compared to what I've been discussing.

Not to mention that, assuming the rules are the same, you should receive an infraction.

    Looks like you did.

You are allowed to disagree with me. I have not called you names, nor have I told you to "shut up". If you cannot be civil, I suggest you refrain from this discussion.

If you think being mean will drive the stupid away, you clearly never participated at misetings when it was thriving. The stupid was ruthlessly savaged at every turn; the stupid continued to flow. + at least there, we had the numbers on our side.

I was not involved in the MTG community during misetings' heyday, though I guarantee they did a better job culling the masses than MTGS.

Allowing them to run rampant, hey? I see the mod staff putting a fair amount of effort towards curbing the stupid.

You're stubbornly clinging to the idea that new, over-excited players aren't going to continue signing up to the forum at speed.

All you're suggesting doing is replacing "stupid" with "mean + stupid". Quality.

Honestly, the mods do not curb the stupid I am referring to. I am referring to people whose opinions and thoughts are idiotic, but not breaking any rules. Under the current atmosphere of this site, nothing can really be done about these people.

There's nothing stubborn or clinging about it. If the site had a reputation for getting rid of stupid players, they would still sign up in droves, but would be pushed away as well. You sound resigned to this as inevitable, instead of actually trying to change this.

That's not what I'm suggesting at all. I'm suggesting inserting stupid with mean. Once stupid leaves, so does mean.

    This isn't complicated!

And we don't want the site's atmosphere to be quite so juvenile idiotic. I'm not sure I can make that concept any easier to understand.

By allowing idiots to run rampant, this is exactly what you do.

Somehow, you guys just don't get it. It's not like you get put into a box declaring you stupid or not stupid. If you say dumb stuff, people make fun of you. It's as simple as that! I don't know how else to possibly make this concept any easier to understand!

    Quote from rianalnn
You skipped the 'vastly outnumbered' part, + the part where we set a tone for the board that only encourages stupid people to get snarky.

People that think conflux is a quality piece of cardboard generally don't/won't have the mental capabilities to be too snarky.

it isn't acceptable to randomly declare group X better than group Y and allow group X to do whatever they want.

    This is where we disagree.

The site would be better if group x (smart people) were better than group y (dumb people).

Feel free to disagree. Though I hope rational thought would overcome.

This has not been my experience across the many flame-boards I have participated on.

Idiots don't know when they are losing, + it is a self-perpetuating cycle. Sure, there are weak fools who cave + run, but that is like, one guy out there.

eds - that's not going to work on this site anyway - the influx of new stupidposters will continue to vastly outnumber the random quality kids. If we set a tone that is nasty, all it does is give the stupid a place to vent. We will be outnumbered a thousand to 1.

I'm talking about the type of idiots that pounce on conflux as the next bestest card everrrrrrrrr

Those dudes cave like nothing else. It's beautiful.

Whether or not you're "changing US law" is irrelevant. You're suggesting the rules of this site be changed to allow arbitrary group X to do whatever they want to arbitrary group Y with zero justification for this change and zero justification for classifying person Z as group X or group Y other than "your opinion."

We're not "changing US law". THAT'S THE POINT, ACTUALLY. You somehow misconstrued changing forum rules as ******** on the rights of gay and black people. Which is absolutely laughable.

You nailed it to a T, up to the part with "zero justification".

I already articulated my justification several times, if you can't read, comprehend, post, then there's nothing I can do about it.

Furthermore, iRebel, if you feel someone is a moron (I'd be willing to bet you put me among them), I believe you should feel free to ridicule them. I have no problem with this. The point of ridicule is to make someone feel unwanted. Which makes them leave. If they still feel wanted in light of your ridicule, then they are probably not hated by the majority of users.

Brains work differently on mtgs Crazy

Also, the rich probably should be given preferential treatment in court. I'd be willing to stake a lot of money on their recidivism rate being significantly lower. But that is neither here nor there, because it is completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

Here's a hint: If you don't like it, then leave.

Laughing at an actual argument is so ridiculous it isn't even funny.

You know how to navigate away from the page, so do so. You're the kind of user that pollutes the site.

I laughed because it was so utterly beyond ridiculous. We're not talking about changing ****ing US law or anything. Of course being a moron is subjective! If enough people think they are a moron and chase after them however, it is clearly a majority opinion. In this instance, the majority opinion should be the ruling opinion.

If you think this site should function like a legal system (laws protecting minorities, ie morons and other undesirable posters), you are clearly out of your mind.

Oh, and our society does give preferential treatment to intelligent people, so gg.

I, for one, don't understand your arguments at all. They all seem to be in support of my and AP's side of things.

Also; "if you don't like it, leave" isn't an argument. Although, it can easily be applied to an extreme (and utterly ridiculous) metaphor as well:If you don't like the way the US works, then you can geddout!

And you're significant lack of material in your posts, and things like "cool story", add nothing to the discussion/argument.

Binary didn't add too much with his statement either, brah. Honestly AP's response was pretty much spot on. What would you prefer?

    "OK"
    "Glad to hear"

I mean, it was completely irrelevant and there's not really anything to be said about it. If you wanted to be an ass you could say "well I really hope this changes then, LOL" but that's about it.

    Really now?
Therein lies our problem. Users post whatever they want, and voice opinions on whatever they want, even if they know nothing about it.

That is the root of the problem.

That is the root of the problem. You are 100% correct. The way to fix the root of this problem is to allow other users to chase the dumb off the site.

    Quote from iRebel
So, should the rich be given preferential treatment in court? Should whites be given preference to blacks when it comes to job opportunity and pay? Should women be given better airfare rates than men? Should heterosexuals receive priority health care over homosexuals?

The answer to all of these, and, in turn your suggestion, is a resounding no. A "moron" is nothing but a subjective opinion that some may or may not agree with. I can name a few people I'd consider a moron and you would look at me as though I'm crazy. Why? Because it's all subjective.

The second you begin giving preferential treatment to one group over another, the rule of law becomes subservient to a tyrannical regime that is allowed to do whatever because "they're better posters." It would destroy the credibility and image of this site in a New York second.

    I lol'd. I really really did.
