I can't believe you left out Elementals. They're the perfect EDH tribe next to Dragons and Angels, with an array of small to huge creatures with big splashy effects, a decent card pool as it stands, and can fit into all colors.

    Fixed elementals added

    I did forget elementals.

I'm pretty sure that's not the same image that was on the booster mockups,
so it's probably not on the PW card.

There's likely 2 Bolas planeswalker cards, right? One in packs and one in a planeswalker deck?

    3 bolas are coming

    Archenemy 2

    Hour of devastation

    His PW deck
Wasn't it confirmed that the Archenemy Bolas would be a reprint?
    (EDIT: it was here)

I know archenemy bolas is just a reprint I just included it because it's still technically new art of Walker bolas.

I see slivers get mentioned every other post, but stepping back a second and realizing this is one of the products that is designed to draw in new players who see 'cool monsters' on the box and want to learn what game is inside the awesome packaging, I doubt slivers will actually be one of the decks this go-around. I would love more slivers and even a Sliver Queen clone/non-RL replacement, but there isn't resonance with people who don't know they want to play this game yet.

So I started thinking about what monsters would cause my nephew to make his parents blindly buy a new game if he saw them on the box, and a quick list of things he would recognize are:

    pokemon (not gonna happen)
    Dragons
Fey (fairies, dryads, or otherwise obviously 'magic' creatures)
    Knights
    Wizards
    Ninjas
    Dinosaurs
    Goblins

Of those, the four options that make the most sense are Dragons, Humans (with lots of class options), Goblins and Elves (as representative of 'fey') or Treefolk. Dinosaurs have desperately wanted to become a supported creature type (even if the creature type on the card is 'beast' or whatever) but there really aren't any good ways to represent Dinosaurs using magic cards other than a few specific cards. To that extent, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but how is speculation surrounding possible Kraken/Leviathan/Octopus as a candidate? Not quite dinosaurs, but still very cool monsters that EDH players would love to have a general for.

    Actually wizards is picky

In amonkhet there was no mummie sub-type they just made them zombies.

Dinosaurs we have a few dinosaur like cards alright but they are lizard type. So your really asking for lizard tribal.

It is set that way possible but not garateed to happen.

    What does that mean?
By the for Myr, well Eldrazi is more likely than them but they would be the subtype for that deck believe it or not.

Does "they" refer to Myr or Eldrazi? Also what deck? What is the insight here that I am missing?

    1) my poll is Based on probable

    2) they refers to Myr being a sub type and I'm talking about one of these commander decks being colorless and Eldrazi/Myr is probably just that. Wizard said a while back (forgot the source) they would not mind at all At making a pre-built colorless commander deck, heck they maybe even want to I don't remember. This is a golden opportunity to try it because it's not color focused this time.

Next poll should ask for probable. Wink

Note: A myr deck being entirely colorless would exclude one in seven currently existing Myrs (the mana Myr cycle).

I haven't played against any Leovold decks so I never learned how broken he was as a commander, I can see him being broken though.

Just picture it being 1,000,000% impossible to draw a card.

Actually I realized if we get Eldrazi which is more likely than we all think.

It will be a colorless deck.

Wizard said a while back they would not mind at all if they made a pre-built colorless commander deck. (Forgot source unfortunately.)

And like they said this is not color focused this a opportunity to try it, so if Eldrazi are in its colorless not 5-color devoid.

    5-color Dragons
Colorless Eldrazi (wizards hinted a colorless commander deck build forgot the source though)
Sultai snakes (the suposive unexspected deck.)
Maybe a human tribal of some sort

Base of most popular and interesting tribes

The most iconic tribes are not locks being famous doesn't necessary make them popular

These 4 to me smell like the ones (Eldrazi is popular for Ramp edh decks and also considered alien type for those wondering.)

I wonder why eople think that Amonkhet is out for being a source for the Tribal EDH decks. Normal sets have a larger lead time than EDH stuff, meaning that whoever would makea a Zombie deck would more than likely know about upcoming white zombies and could easily make a lord for them. The biggest problem would be in keeping the traditional of having 3 Legends that could be your commander, unless they have 2 Esper Legends that have nothing to do with Zombies.

I don't see why amonkhet would boot tribals biggest reason zombie tribal may not happen in this Commander set is they may have a esper zombie legend (good for commander) upcoming in hour of devastation

Still doubt elves because we have A LOT of legendary elves... it would create a "why bother" feeling...

Merfolk maybe since we lack a legendary merfolk lord besides Sygg.

That and commander 2014 green deck is elf tribal 24 out of 36 or 37 creatures is elfs and that deck is getting reprinted in commander anotology

Knowing stores some will split into seperate decks so incase someone only wants one of them.

    It just accured to me

I hate to say it to the haters but.

I think Eldrazi as one of the tribes is more locked than we think.

I forgot the source but wizards hinted that they would be 100% alright with making a colorless Commander deck. (This was a while ago not today so they have Ben considering it.)

Everyone is focusing on 5 color, however I'm over hear thinking this is what Wizards was hinting at back in the day when they said they wouldn't be oppossed to making a colorless commander deck if the time was right.

So here is the chance for even Karn, Silver Golem artifact tribal, or my personal guess: Eldrazi Tribal.

Exactly that why Eldrazi has atvatange popular and interesting than people thing the only haters is the BFZ/ENM stories

And people think the most iconic are getting the spots no. Dragons or slivers is the only acceptions.

By the way can I have the source of that I do believe they said that.

If Merfolk is by chance one of the tribes, I don't want it to be a monoblue deck because we already have plenty of monoblue Merfolk legends. Not to say we won't get more in the future, but I'd rather a tribal Commander product be used to open new color combination options for existing tribes, like a URG Merfolk that allows you to play Jori En, Ruin Diver and Kiora, Master of the Depths together, or an Esper Merfolk that plays well with the white and black Merfolk introduced in Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, or even a Bant Merfolk.

I suspect that the four decks could each be inspired by one or two of Magic's most notable sets or blocks to feature a tribal component.

Onslaught - The original tribal set and block, with a primary focus on Soldiers, Wizards, Zombies, Goblins, and Elves, and also some support for Birds, Clerics, Beasts, Dragons, and Shapeshifters.
Lorwyn - The most notable tribal block in Modern. Lorwyn focused on races, primarily Kithkin, Merfolk, Goblins, Elementals, and Elves and secondarily on Faeries, Giants, Treefolk, and Shapeshifters (the latter of which had the Changeling ability, allowing them to play with the other tribes). Morningtide focused on classes, primarily Soldiers, Wizards, Rogues, Warriors, and Shamans, with slight support for Knights, Clerics, and Archers.
Innistrad - Featured five major tribes inspired by Gothic Horror tropes: Humans, Spirits, Zombies, Vampires, and Werewolves. Avacyn Restored introduced some Angel and Demon tribal.
Zendikar - Heavily features Allies and Eldrazi tribal themes.
Dragons of Tarkir - Dragons were the main theme of DTK.
Kaladesh - Artificers featured more heavily here than in any previous set. Thopters also saw a resurgence of relevance.

Allies already got a good commander in the form of General Tazri, so I'm not expecting an Ally tribal deck here.

A WUBRG Eldrazi legend isn't impossible, but feels dubious to me. I'd sooner see a legend version of Ugin with a WUBRG ability, before his spark ignited who knows how long ago. Since he has a keen interest in studying the Eldrazi, it makes sense he could play well with them mechanically.

A new Dragon legend doesn't seem far-fetched, given how popular Dragons are. Question is, would such a legend be multicolor or monored? Multicolor allows for play with a greater variety of Dragons, but WUBRG Dragon awesomeness would completely overshadow anything else in the cycle, which makes me think a new monored Dragon legend might be in order as a counterbalance.

Fans have requested a UR Artificer legend for a while now, and this seems like a good a time as any to print one.

Of course, since most Commander decks have two themes for greater variance of play, maybe each deck features two major tribes with flavorful and mechanical synergy? For example, Knights + Soldiers and Dragons + Shamans.

WUBRG Eldrazi not possible. *facepalm* I see someone forgot about the devoid mechanic. But yea if Eldrazi is one more likely a colorless deck

Dragon tribal is actually the most popular we get a brand new 5-color dragon legend and will have a Scion of the Ur-Dragon reprint and for bonus the same with Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund and Balefire dragon

Yes but sultai snakes are more requested than artificers

Yep two sub tribes is likely too.

    Like clerics/demons

    Humans/angels

    Dragons/shamans

Oh one more thing to point out. (To everybody)

I don't remember the source but wizards hinted they would be completely alright of making a pre-built colorless commander deck.

So haters gonna hate most likely Eldrazis may be even more likely than we think as one of the tribes. Plus they are more popular than you think. The BFZ/OGW/EMN story's is just a smoke screen.
