Someone already said this. But it goes so well in an Arjun the shifting flame edh. It's a win condition just with your commander out.
I want this soooo bad.
So what are the odds of Amonkhet actually surviving this? It seems like a waste to have an Egypt plane and then just turn into a horror version of Tatooine or Bolas slurpie.
Seems to be the usual pattern: Create a cool setting, wreck it in the final act of the block. Then when you return, find a way to undo the wrecking and say "Turns out wasn't really completely wrecked...". See Zendikar (Eldrazi's everywhere!... ok, not _everywhere_, yet...), Ravnica (the Guildpact is broken! ... ok, there's a new one now), and Innistrad (Avacyn makes the horror not horrifying anymore! ... ok, but now she's crazy!). They'll have to do the same for the inevitable return to Tarkir (..ok, some fragments of the clans survived), or the less likely returns to Alara (..ok, the conflux wasn't permanent) or Lorwyn (... ok, the Aurora's somehow continue without Oona)
Same with a return to Amonkhet. If they wreck it, they'll find a way to undo it for the return.
Personally I hope they don't fix it, but still return. There are two sides to Egypt, it's ancient thriving past, and it's dead and buried present.
It would be cool if years down the line they did a set called something like Mysteries of Amonkhet, where a planeswalker discovers the plane and it's ancient ruins. Done with more of an archaeological take on the plane, it would be a good chance to have more traps/curses.
Hmmm. I'm not sure on that actually, I couldn't say if there is or isn't.
I do know Ugin wanted to trap and study them, as for Nahiri and Sorin I'm not actually sure. So you could be right.
As for number 6. It is a misunderstanding on your part.
Ugin, Spring, and Nahiri were capable of killing the eldralz. Ugin refused to in fear that he could upset an ecosystem beyond his understanding, therefore releasing an even greater threat into the multiverse. That's why Ugin was so upset the the gatewatch killed the Titans.
There is a big difference between COULDN'T and WOULDN'T.
They voluntarily went through the the effort to trap and not to kill, which would have been easier.
I have a theory, I think throughout the rest of the story, Nissa will be investigating the history of the plane, while Jace analyzes the present.
Once she discovers more about the past and the 3 old gods, in hour of devastation Nissa while reform or remake one or more of the old gods from leylines in order free Amonkhet from Bolas' grasp.
Now I know it might seem outside of her power range to form new gods. But from what we've seen from the story so far, is it really?
What I'd actually rather see is Nissa restore the current 5 gods to their original state, and after hour of devastation she decides to stay on Amonkhet to remake the gods and restore the plane to it's former glory.(because something of that scale should take a lot of time.)
Maybe Gideon would stay too.
Causing a divide in the gatewatch, and yet the gatewatch would still be color balanced. Ajani is GW after all.
I wanna see a thalid/fungus deck in GWB. We haven't had a good commander for them since Ghavu.
Beasts could also be fun and be in a few different colors.
I love the idea of esper zombies, but I'd also like to see the return of fairies, in UGR this time.
If we get Ninjas though I'm sold.
The theme may have been pretty scattered.
Honestly though I love this masterpiece series. The card frame is beautiful in my opinion, it doesn't look too different from a magic card, all the info is in the correct place.
I even like the heiroglyphic text on the names. It's not hard to read. There's even a line where the heiroglyphs end and the actual card name begins.
The art doesn't seem smaller at all, just the border bolder and more eye catching. And all the art is extremely well done.
That new consecrated sphinx.
The starkness of mind twist.
This is gonna be the first time I get a masterpiece. Definitely the Sphinx, and probably one of the gods to use as a commander.
The faceless god really threw me off. Does this mean one of the gods we've seen will be dual colored (like the crocodile being u/b), will two gods share a color?
I hope we see allied colored decks.
With 1 dual colored legend, 1 hybrid dual legend, and 2 mono colored with partner.
I'd also love to see new lieutenants.
For allied colors I could see,
UW- Narset.
RG- Domri or Sarkahn returned to RG. (Though I just have a feeling Sarkahns death could drive Narset to join.)
UB- It would have to be a new character, Ashiok would definitely not fit.
RB- Same problem as UB, honestly I can't see these two getting members.
For enemy colors I'd guess.
WB- most likely a returned Elspeth, but I'd much rather see Kaya, she may have left a man to die in her story, but she had a reason. Her sense of an eye for an eye justice would be an interesting addition to the team.
RW- I could see Koth getting this spot, or a new walker.
RU- I think Saheeli will encounter the gatewatch again, I'd definitely prefer her to Dak.
UG- I don't see Kiora joining now that the eldralzi conflict is resolved, and the only remaining Titan is sealed far away from Zendikar. Once again I feel like we'd get a new walker here.
GB- Vraskas definitely a no, but I could see us getting a GB "good guy."
I'd actually like seeing some new planeswalkers join, so far the only ones to join have been already established characters.
Also I feel that the more characters that join, the more likely it is that they're going to kill off one of the original members. Most likely one of the origin five for shock factor.
Thanks!! Traps would definitely be cool too! I like the idea of different desert subtype lands too, instead of just reprinting desert.
You could do a few things with that, maybe a caravan route through the desert could be a land that lets you tap some wastes to discard a card and draw.

Which would bump your whitemane lions.

I don't know the exact ruling but I'm 99.999% sure. Haha
