    Snip.

Gave your cube a whirl, and I have to say it felt very smooth: at 410, I wasn't flooded with lands over playables, and the ease of fixing meant I could more happily splash 1 - 2 ofs in an aggro deck (fx. including Overgrown Tomb for Lingering souls off of a Windswept Heath).

If you would want to expand the BR sacrifice theme (Blood Artist, Carrion Feeder, Goblin Bombardment, Hissing Iguanar) to a third colour, which way would you go?

Absolutely Green - although White will always have support with it's mass of token makers; Life//Death is a house in BR Sac, and one of my favourite cards of all time. Curse of Predation (while being a bomb regardless) turns your weenies and tokens into massive threats on the swing, has some minor synergy with persist also. Spider Spawning/Worm Harvest do work, and it's not too hard to turn on with looting/symmetrical discard.

Your graveyard will fill up in BR Sacrifice, so Gnaw to the Bone and other cards which are core parts of BG Graveyard Matters slot in pretty easily. Also if you run a Buried Alive + Anger, Wonder etc package.

Honestly, if you're picking up a couple of sacrifice outlets & blood artist/cut-throat with a decent-low curve, it's value in any colour :p

We just had a UW Control deck with Arena & Darksteel Sentinel which was pretty gross. It was originally included to give green midrange some colourless removal, but, uh.

Timeshifted is a very good example of what I DO NOT have in mind Grin

It has been mentioned before, but Akroma, Angel of Wrath feels like a very big stretch for example Wink

Just don't include 'em on a power level basis! Most of us do it with Sol Ring and the odd Propoganda/Constant Mist style effect. Fx, Mana Crypt was printed as special in the gatherer promo, and there's absolutely no way I'd include it :p

    Heresy!

We're exposed to the Glare of Heresy ~ which is a proper uncommon, so I'm allowed to play it. Wink

In all seriousness, having drafted a few of y'all cubes with rare lands, it just seems to smooth things out.

For those who want Shadowmage Infiltrator, Call of the Herd & Mystic Snake (all discussed as potential downshifts in future), just include some judicious use of Timeshifted (special ain't rare, right?) and y'all get a bonus Voidmage Prodigy, Bad Moon & Stormbind!

Quick pop quiz for our regular (and not so regular) posters:

Of your cube, or anothers cube, what're some of your favourite archetypes to draft? Is what you enjoy drafting different from what you enjoy playing, or seeing played?

For myself, UB Aggro is a favourite, in both Peasant and regular cubes ~ a combination of some cool art, efficient removal and evasive beats, topped with a wee bit of disruption and card draw is a glorious tempo package! Red Deck Wins is also a reliable fall back, as well!

Conversely, what are you not such a fan of? I find that UW can be a bit dull, as can UG without a splash or flicker shenanigans - good decks, but not really ones which get the blood flowing (though I think this may be over-exposure to UG and UW durdle on the MTGO cubes >_<).

On a different note, given that our curve is generally a whole lot lower in peasant cube (less absolutely game ending bombs in the 7 - 11 range, ala Karn, Ugin, Upheavel etc), with most decks capping out at 5CMC or so (exluding ramp and othersuch), is it broadly correct to run 16 or even 15 lands?

Jamming a game last night, and had an interesting game between UR Control and a tight Brg Aggro deck.

Control player was stabilising with a Propaganda, Mulldrifter and Control Magic'd Nekrataal on board. Aggro player had a bunch of lands and a lone Blood Artist - not looking so good. Various critters had eaten Firebolts etc etc.

He proceeds to Life // Death and then Fire Covenant his own tokens for lethal.

    We were gobsmacked.

    What about y'all?

    Sure:

All cards to which my gut instinct is dislike, after looking at a few visual spoilers. Some of them are *rather* powerful. Looking at them by set, it may just be a distaste for the art direction in the last few blocks, however.

    Edit: promo Heir ain't bad.

I'm a huge fan of Icefeather Aven.

Well, I certainly think it'd look ever-so-sexy in foil!

Any folk here just... not include some powerful cards because of their heinous, heinous art? (Subjective as it is).

I recently switched from 4 SB Gutshots to 1 main deck Prey Upon and 2 in the sideboard. I've found tat we don't need Gutshot vs Delver (it's favourable enough as is), and only really love it in Elves. Prey upon works a lot better in killing higher toughness critters in Slivers, UR Fiend, Witches, Affinity and the mirror. Admittedly, some of those a just a dog anyway, so should'nt be considered *hugely* in sideboard construction.

In terms of cards printed in the future, a hypothetical Innistrad set has me hoping for something more in the GG department.

As for the special cards, I'm cubeing with commons and uncommons. If the card was never printed at those rarities, it's not legal. That's how I define my format and I think everyone else here does as well. Obviously there's Luddites that don't count online only sets for example but that's beside the point.

I notice you have painlands, but I suppose that's been discussed to death. :p Just drafted it, and the fixing feels great.

Picked this deck up a fortnight ago and am absolutely loving it: still make mistakes all the time, though!

I find I just roll over Delver, Tron, Homebrew, Goblins, Burn & UB Decks (with the exception of the heavy Dredge Stinkweed/Angler version), which is lovely. On the other hand, we're a dog to Elves and UR, and Affinity if they've 'got it'.

I have yet to play vs Familiars, but sorta assumed it be favourable - between archers, evasive beats & vines :c Anything we can reasonably do to shore things up?

Strangely, I've been having issues with RW metalcraft and UWR midrange - intellectually it feels like their awkward manabase should be punishing, but the ~ 12ish Bolts and value draw + incidental lifegain and CoP: Green is feeling real rough. Any tips?

Really, I'm just hoping for an Invigorate unbanning :i

The cube which I play in (not my own, am currently working on acquiring one with a wee bit of discretionary funds and hunting down a good proxy site!) it mostly works with regards to swinging in of a stalled board state, or enabling your white & green 2/3 CMC 2/Xs to combat more midrange threats. Now, given the focus on value and EtB effects in peasant, the damage may already be done, but it *is* very nice letting aggressive decks get in a bit more damage & board presence while retaining a seal like effect.

The more combat tricks, hexproof & equipment you run the better it is, which creates a nice tension, as you also want that disenchant effect!

That said, my perspective may be skewed, as the only card we have banned is Sol Ring, so maindeck enchantment/artifact hate is very, very valuable.

Most often, the exalted matters when dropping Pride Mage T2-3 and swinging in on an empty board or into bears, and later on, suit up with Bonesplitter/Rancor/Wargear - a 5/3 is a pretty fast clock.

Edit @ Leelue - yeah, Hybrids have their own wee section in this cube, though she's agonising over *quite* how to do flashback at the moment.

I'd bump Pridemage up to a 3 - depending on your cube construction: it, Behemoth Sledge & Reclaimation Sage are absolutely the draw to going going Wg. If you run any of the very strong & must deal with artifacts/enchantments in your cube, which many do (Skullclamp, Curse of Shallow Graves, Propaganda, Lust for War, Shrines - the list goes on), it does it's job and does it well: exalted also supports a pants archetype, which is incidentally nice with equipment, Rancor, bestow creatures etc.

    In short, it's a house.

    Carnophage (14) -2
    Vampire Lacerator (14)
    Carrion Feeder (13) +1
    Plagued Rusalka (0) -3
    Tormented Hero (9)

Feeder is one of the backbones of supporting Bx Sacrifice (generally BG Value/Rakdos Reach) and as such, does a lot more for cube composition and archetype support than the remaining cards.

Given that people tend to incidentally support Warriors over Zombies in terms of teeny tiny synergies, Lacerator/Hero gets the nod over Carnophage. Forced lifeloss doesn't matter too much if you're running it, so.
